  1. Biden does lie unnecessarily though. He needs to stop ASAP because he is going to be held to a higher standard then Trump. Don't ask me why because I've never understood why Trump gets away with what he does. It doesn't even matter that journalist call him out on it he just does it endlessly and his base doesn't GAF. Not sure how I feel about Biden choosing a woman as VP. Of course women deserve a chance, but after the unleashed misogyny we've seen over the last 4 years, I just hope it doesn't stop him.
  2. I see this as good news. I would be fine with just keeping it at community college and giving more federal grants to at risk public schools, but whatever. We need to compromise and come together as a party.
  3. ^ Hell, yes. Now this is the lane Bloomberg should have stayed in all along, imo.
  4. It only looks that way because they didn't mention the number of people who are still active cases. Thank God. Here is a website that spells it out more clearly: https://ncov2019.live/data
  5. Who knows? Maybe it would have turned out differently or maybe they would have split the moderate vote between them. Biden does have some real negatives, after all. Those clips people are putting together of Biden putting his hands (and mouth) all over teenage girls give me the creepy crawlies, for example. So icky, so entitled. I would have voted for HRC over him any day. Nevertheless, next to Trump he looks like an answer to prayer.
  6. It pisses me off. His supporters were the first to tell other people to drop out. Bernie should do the same now that he basically has no chance. Get behind the nominee. Of course those hypocrites won't, just like they didn't 4 years ago.
  7. They aren't even trying to stop this. At least that's how it seems. What a time to have such a leadership vacuum.
  8. I wish Jill Stein would FO already.
  9. Yes, on many fronts. For the first year or two of his presidency I was in such denial I kept telling myself "We can fix it. We can undo this once he's out". Bullshit. Children have been traumatized, it can't be undone. The environmental destruction his policies are enabling, can't be undone. The additional deaths his incompetence will cause cannot be undone. At best we'll be able to pick up these pieces and go on. I'm not even worried about Corona for myself, I'm worried about the people who are more demographically at risk. What a time to have a huckster in charge.
  10. I hope Ronan Farrow drops them like a hot potato, assuming he's not under contract. They did him dirty.
  11. I love Robert Reich. I think he's for Bernie Sanders because he really believes in the progressive agenda especially economic justice for the poor and working class. At the same time, he has also spoken highly of Warren and has said we have to get behind the nominee. That's the difference between legitimate progressives and the nuts who are Bernie or bust. Even worse, Bernie or they will make us all pay by voting Trump. Another difference is that Bernie really is an ideologue. Carville was right about that. It's all about economics and class for him. I think he really believes that economic justice will fix all of our ills. He doesn't acknowledge the intersection of race/gender/poverty. It might be more precise to say he will when pressed, but he tends to shift the discussion right back to economic inequality in general. I can even understand why he believes these things. It's a type of intellectual, white tower way of thinking, but it doesn't connect to many people's experience of the world. RR always acknowledges the extra challenges faced by women and non whites.
  12. Why the hell would she ever put herself or her family through that? Mostly when people say they are not going to run I roll my eyes, but I believe Michelle Obama.
  13. Let's hope so. It seems like things are coming together for Biden. We'll see.
  14. ^ I just saw that, along with this:
  15. Yeah, even though it's hard to get people pumped for a primary, I thought this time might be a little different. Guess not. Seems like that might be a good thing for Biden.
  16. Maybe his day will come down the road.
  17. "Teachers left,” Brown said. “They were crying and they were offended. Their faces just look disgusted. I know they had a talk with him after, like, 'That's not okay.'" I wonder if they didn't intervene because they were worried they would ruin their students chances? I don't know. It's weird that they left their students with this guy, even if they were upset.
  18. I hope Warren stays in because she is probably weakening Bernie.
  19. Thank goodness Biden won this one. Hopefully donations will roll in now. Of course! I had a feeling you two would be prepared.
  20. Are you counting Biden out? I'm still hoping he can pull it off. I basically agree that Bernie isn't as bad as Trump, but does the bar get any lower? If Bernie is the nominee and he picks a reasonable VP I'll be more in favor. I remember actually liking Bernie four years ago, but his nutty followers have really turned me off. Plus I'm not as naive as I used to be.
  21. Yeah. He has done a lot of f*cked up things, but this easily cracks the top 50. So irresponsible, it's unreal and the Fox crowd just eats it up.
  22. Of course. Glad to hear your family is protected. Just in case anyone needs a laugh. To me this isn't funny for the obvious reasons. It's more just the absurdity of where we are. Please let tomorrow be the start of Biden's recovery.
  23. It's also body destroying and leaves people in pain for a life time. I hate that anyone has to do this kind of work. I fully admit that I wouldn't (and frankly couldn't). I guess the good news is that legal immigrants move away from this work very quickly. Almost anyone with papers can get an easier job, thank god. It's awful to think the undocumented are being exploited. There has to be a better way. Maybe a guest worker program with rights (breaks, slower work pace) and benefits. Of course, that is a dream under this admin.
  24. ^ The combination of incompetence and tendency toward authoritarianism is truly frightening. We are lucky that the disease itself doesn't seem to be "the big one".
