Your daily (or nightly) thought
The Dad looks familiar but it's not Don Murray. Yes the little boy is Phillip McKeon who played Tommy on Alice and is Nancy's brother. The blonde guy in the Dial ad recently played Gil on The Doctors.

Thanks for the uploads. I was watching as a kid off from school during this time. I will get around to watching these when I get time. Speaking of Amy in Airplane, Doug Davidson's wife Cindy had a role in Airplane II: The Sequel. I also remember Amy Gibson as the *itch who made fun of Jo on Facts Of Life about her mother being a waitress. Blair smashed pie in her face. It was in the episode The New Girl Part II.

Dallas Discussion Thread
Hard to believe it's been 40 years since Dallas premiered. I was born the same year. There will never be a show like it again. I saw the reunion video. Victoria Principal never participates. She did the Return To Southfork, but that was it. She also declined doing the reboot a few years ago and said Pam was dead. The 1970's and 80's were a great time for programs. You could escape reality and go into a fantasy world to get away from your problems. Today we have reality crammed down our throats. Most shows today are depressing and vulgar.

Kind of like all that crap created by Seth MacFarlane. I bet there are some skeletons in that closet.

According to imdb, she has no acting credits after 1980. It says she is now an acting coach in another state. Her husband is the one who alerted on facebook about purchasing episodes with her in them. I wonder if someone should contact Tammy Taylor via youtube and send her scenes as Patty to her for her page ?

I think that is him. According to his bio he went into the swimming pool construction business after leaving acting in 1981. I wonder if he played the part before Brett Halsey or if he was just filling in ? He looks like Terry Lester. According to his birth year, he was only 12 years old when Terry was born in early 1950. I know that doesn't mean anything in soap world, but interesting. I think he would done great as John from what little I saw of him in those scenes. I actually like Bond Gideon as Jill. I liked her scenes with Liz and John.

He always came across as seedy in everything he has played in. His career since leaving Y&R has pretty much consisted of low life characters. I remember reading an article from the early 90's when Y&R was celebrating the 20th anniversary, he slammed his time on the show and called it a "hair show". He said he learned he never wanted to do a soap again and that any actor on them that complained of how hard they are to work on, long hours, lots of dialogue etc... is full of it.

Thank you for the 1980 episodes. Wings Hauser was so horrible and campy as Greg. I wish James Houghton had stayed in the role paired with MTS. Interesting that Victor brought flowers for Nikki before their big romance. Tammy Taylor is really good as Patty. I remember only Lilibet in the role. I wonder why Tammy was dropped ? Bond is pretty good as Jill. One interesting thing about the cult. The blonde girl Nikki talks to is played by Cindy Fisher, Doug Davidson's wife. She reminds me of Daryl Hannah. Cindy played small roles on the show over the years. She stole Victor's car at one point.

I didn't know that Joseph Mascolo appeared on Days in 1968 before his run starting in 1982. I remember Jeanne Cooper said that Kin Shriner appeared on Y&R in the 70's prior to his GH role. She said he played a delivery guy who brought groceries etc... to the Chancellor home. He has always been close to the Y&R cast and you can see him at cast parties going back to the 70's.

Stars who didn't conquer TV
Paul Lynde was also shoehorned into sitcom Temperatures Rising after his own sitcom failed. The original format of TR was well received, but they retooled it several times and changed the cast. Cleavon Little was the only original cast member kept for the entire series. Joan Van Ark was in the first season, but was let go with the retooling. The wikipedia entry is a good read about all the backstage and network antics. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temperatures_Rising

Stars who didn't conquer TV
Geena Davis has had several short lived series. The Simpsons even made fun of her by having Homer watch several of her failed attempts on a retro channel he became addicted to.

1979 was also when all the crap hit the fan with Leslie marrying Lucas to hide the fact she was pregnant by his brother Lance. Lorie finds out and goes ape. Leslie later goes bonkers and leaves Lucas and Lorie to raise her son Brooks Prentiss. Lance is in the dark the whole time about being the father (it would be 1982 when he finds out) and Vanessa plays a game of cat and mouse with Lorie threatening to reveal all. Nikki slept with her college professor, killed her father, married Greg Foster and joined Rose Deville's modeling agency not knowing it was a front for a cat house. One of Nikki's John's dropped dead of a heart attack and the body was dumped in an alley. Jill trapped Stuart Brooks who loved her mother Liz into a sham marriage by faking a pregnancy. 1979 was one heck of a year for Y&R.

What Are You Listening To?
I always liked Andy Gibb. I love all that late 70's/early 80's soft rock/pop/ Top 40 stuff like Andy Gibb, Player, Bee Gees, Michael Johnson, Ambrosia, Pablo Cruise, Paul Davis etc...It's relaxing to listen to late at night or on rainy days.

Yes. I assume they had access to the entire Columbia Pictures library and they borrowed from it to add on to their originally composed themes for the show. All the old background music really set the tone for the show. They kept using it up till about 2000 when they started to phase it out in favor of new material, which stinks.

Thanks for all that info. I saw a 1970 episode of a short lived series called "The Interns".....starring Mike Farrell and Christopher Stone. In one episode they were playing a background theme that I had heard in the episode where Jennifer Brooks discovers the lump. The music cue starts at: 20.00

I remember a really great episode of Hart To Hart with Don Chastain where he has a one night stand with Mimi Rogers and she murders him.
