  1. Svitolina annoys the sh*t outta me because when she faces Venus or even Serena, she plays like nothing else matters even after she loses a set but she just faded fast after she lost the first set against Mertens, who was by no means blasting her offcourt or anything.
  2. Oh honey, you don't want to know. Let's see Pizzagate likes, white supremacists likes, homophobic tweets, xenophobic tweets. I don't venture onto his twitter page but others have screenshot them . Svitolina just got her butt whooped! She seemed to give up after she lost the first set.
  3. Tennys Sandgren trying to delete his offensive tweets in a hurry faster than. via GIPHY
  4. I've been watching Chung since he was playing in the Challengers. I enjoyed him when he competed in Milan at the NextGEN Championships last year. I'm happy for him! He needs to take out Sandgren the Trumpist now since Thiem couldn't do it.
  5. Just in case, there are still people who think/hope that Kelly is a moderating force.
  6. Love her and glad she's still acting!
  7. What a beautiful little girl!
  8. Some media entities really seem to be emphasizing the financial undercurrents regarding Trump and Russia, suggesting that money laundering may now be the focus of the investigation. Reading this article was interesting in how, on its face, it discusses the possible purge of U.S. intel sources while examining, once again, how mob-adjacent Trump Inc. has always been (this time it's the Russians) as well as how comfortable the Trump organization seems to be at playing this kind of shell game with money (e.g. the golf course section). Fusion GPS: Kremlin ‘Purged’ Suspected Spies After Trump Dossier Release The reality is that Trump has likely been practicing more money laundering through his various companies than the Godfather did through his olive oil venture but the sad news is that if he's half as proficient in covering his tracks as his mentor Vladimir, the evidence may not be found for years (if ever).
  9. I posted this in the Politics thread but I realize, it probably should've been here first, so I'm linking it. Mozilla just filed a suit against the FCC to protect net neutrality
  10. Yeah, it did happen, right after Meg and Tonio got married when her family didn't show up for her "reception" that she arranged at the Yacht Club. You missed it. Tonio was disappointed and sort of berated Meg, saying something to the effect that she had now made their marriage into something of a business "transaction". To that, Meg said something like "I thought you'd be happy..." That moment told me that Meg thought she and Tonio would be genuine partners in every way. It was later on when Meg finally got the message that Tonio was exactly who he's always been, that her stance hardened and she became more determined to get the other things (e.g. material wealth) that she could still extract out of the marriage. Later with Josh, she'd want to be completely out of the marriage but in the beginning, it appeared to me that she loved him and believed she could change him. How Tonio felt about Meg is a whole other chapter...
  11. One news outlet report stated that they thought that this was more important than some garden variety sex scandal, due to the fact that Trump Inc. created a Delaware-based LLC. in order to pay her the 'hush money' just a month before the election. (my guess is they are trying to delineate where the money came from--personal accounts or campaign cash?) They may be thinking about Bannon's money laundering allegations and tying it into Trump's shady financial dealings (especially since the WSJ was the first media outlet to report this). I'm not sure how significant this is but I do believe it merits higher than mere distraction (though personally, I'd rather not hear the gory details of his sexcapades because...vomit). From the land that created the Kalashnikov (the man and the assault rifle)? This doesn't surprise me in the least. The U.S. and Russia are both major arms dealers with networks that span the global to the grassroots. The arms trade is likely more connected than the global drug trade. Actually, they likely go hand-in-hand.
  12. This is why I can no longer read the news during meal times.
  13. Stan definitely should've sat this one out. No offense but I doubt he had a whole army of sponsors pressuring him to return. He better hope he didn't set back his recovery somehow. Speaking of Stan-adjacent. Donna Vekic also lost her match, right? I heard she was complaining about a crying baby? Supposedly the chair umpire said "I can't kick a baby out of here" (or something like that). Why was that baby in a heatwave?? The baby was probably crying out of misery from all that heat!
  14. @adrnyc I actually do think that Meg cared for Tonio, I think she got sick of his oppressive nature that sprung from his unabashed machismo. Think about it: Meg left the farm, that she believed was oppressing her with arbitrary rules (getting up with the cows to milk them was never for Meg) that she felt were a part of always being regarded as the youngest and living on her family farm. She eventually finds a measure of freedom at Lyla's. At Memorial, she is one of the top students in the nursing program. She has more confidence in herself than she ever had as the teenage girl who had once only been known as a farmer's daughter. In Tonio, she saw what she wanted to see: a misunderstood, scorned revolutionary that was passionate about his country. A man who was supposedly evolving. Meg was convinced that Tonio's terrible marriage to Sierra was only because Sierra love Craig and Tonio held onto a childhood dream of a life with Sierra for too long. Also, Meg enjoyed the thrill of keeping a secret of seeing Tonio before his divorce was finalized. She also saw Tonio as being 'on the come up', someone she could have the life of privilege with (the way she once daydreamed about with Dusty, 'The Harvard Grad' but with more passion and in a more experienced, mysterious man. And all those "bad" habits (Tonio's obvious chauvinism)...she was willing to over look them, if she could get most of what she wanted. Besides, Tonio was still knew to the country and she would "love" him out of that way of thinking. I do think Meg was determined that she would not be 'thrown away' by Tonio (she was aware of his womanizing) and wanted to ensure that Tonio wouldn't abandon her. She was not going to get taken advantage of and sought to bind her and Tonio together the only way she knew how--by become a partner in every way. Tonio frowned on this, viewing it as Meg being cold and businesslike but I don't think that is what Meg intended at all. She believed that if Meg was tied to and part and parcel of everything (including the business) that it would forge an even stronger relationship between them. Pretty naive, yes but I think she was sincere in wanting to be his equal partner in every aspect of their lives together and she knew how passionate he was about the business and she wanted to be a part of that. Ironically, her involvement in the business eventually helped drive a solid wedge between them (that and, well, I don't want to spoil the rest for you I do believe though, that in her way, Meg did love him and thought she could change him ("the love of a good woman" and all that...). It's a shame that you missed so many key episodes and you don't have that memory to recall. There's actually quite a bit missing from You Tube. I wish I could see some of those episodes again but at least I have memory of rushing home from school to see certain storylines and also watching VHS tapes (before they got taped over, etc) of what had been recorded that day. There's nothing like being there in the time period watching it all unfold. I posted a 40th anniversary clip about a page back and watching it, I realized how many little snippets of scenes I hadn't seen since they first aired because they've never been posted on YT. Getting fond of certain characters/couples is all about the day to day and when you're missing so much, you can't really expect to get an attachment out of thin air. It's too bad really.
  15. It was hot when Hsieh and Muguruza played but it wasn't 103 degrees! Chris Fowler of ESPN claimed that Djokovic was asked if he wanted the evening session and he declined. I think that is Agassi's hand. Years ago, Courier mentioned how Agassi relished playing in the heat because he thought he could torture his opponents and have an advantage over them in the meantime. I did see Djokovic screaming at someone yesterday, I guess we should be grateful it's not ballkids this time. I saw some of Thiem's match, when he was on the brink of being booted out. Strange, some Thiem fans claimed they thought it was one of the worst matches they'd ever seen from him. To me, the Hsieh/Mugurza match was the best of the tournament that I've seen so far. Before anyone ever plays Garbiñe again, they should watch that match for tips on how to play her.
  16. I went back and looked and all I see is his bio and his title "Assistant Professor". Interestingly enough someone else who has the Assistant Professor title has her bio, title and Course listings, which he doesn't have. I'm wondering whether he's even actively teaching or not. It's possible that they forget to take his name off the Faculty listings. I'm more interested in the fact that Vondie Curtis Hall is going to be teaching there soon.
  17. I am disgusted. If I were those students and I found myself in his class, I'd want my tuition back!
  18. GUYS!!! I just found out that Chris Goutman is teaching at one of my former alma maters and I think I'm going to be sick, LOL. At least it's not in my former department, it's technically in a lower school but still...! I don't know what to do with this information. I do know that they're not getting a red cent of alumni dollars from me (they aren't currently but still, I have some funds coming in from some work I'm currently doing...lol). Very discomfiting!
  19. What does Children's Insurance have to do with a FUckin' Wall!! The two shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath.
  20. And North and South Korea will be marching as a unified team. North and South Korea agree to form first unified Olympic team
  21. That Djokovic-Monfils match was horrible to watch! When the weather gets above a 100 Degrees Fahrenheit, what's the point of playing??
