  1. I blame this mostly on Megan, which may not totally be fair, since I think Frons, ABCD and Disney were just as accountable for taking out their displeasure with an actor on the character, which lead to many OOC moments and just mean spirited storylines.
  2. IMO, Edmund was wasted by keeping him the mourning widower for way too long because TPTB desperately clung to Edmund and Maria as a supercouple (which I don't necessary buy into because years later it seems that they had less fans than touted by the show),and hoped that they could lure ELR into a return. When they did pair him up, it was with TKFP (who looked like a sort of cheap blonde version of ELR), and then with his ex-sister-in-law. While JC and FH had some chemistry, I think FH had more chemistry with MN's Dimitri. In 1998, after the Jim fiasco when Brooke and Dimitri were flirting, it could have lead to reunions for Brooke/Edmund and Erica/Dimitri. Given the Maddie kidnapping, the foursome might not have all lived at Wildwind, but it would have made Brooke and Erica family, and that was the opportunity missed in 1994. It might have also sped up ELR's return, and brought her back to the canvas within three years rather than five. Yep, Megan was definitely burning out, and this is when she should have been replaced. Probably because Megan wanted to spit on Edmund some more by later having Jonathan move into the home of the man he killed, and she couldn't come up with any other dumb way to put Edmund and Jonathan in the same room.
  3. ABCD had a real hard on for Eva LaRue, and believed her Q rating would be equivalent to a ratings bonanza. The story was a mess from beginning to end because they had to try real hard to make Brooke the villain in the piece, which is hard to do when the actress in question was so good and the history of the character, still made the audience want to root for Brooke. They then destroyed Edmund several times over (reverting back to his self-destructive behavior from 10 years prior), and made sure that he wasn't sexually viable throughout most of Edmund and Maria's reunion, and then brought on TK's Zach as the sexual stud (even through were where originally lead to believe that Maureen lived as a nun during her time on the run). I actually liked Maureen more than Maria (way less whiny). It was also realistic that she wouldn't just morph back to Maria, but be more of a blend - Maureenia. However, when ELR decided to leave instead of giving the fans a "walk off into the sunset" ending for Edmund and Maria - they killed off the veteran character, let Brooke, sort of, have the last laugh, and then just had Maria move on... all around, not worth it.
  4. I prefer the photos that really capture the characters. I can't help but count the number of lines on the forehead in Cam's photo and compare them to those of Walt's.
  5. Actually, Tim was the match. Brooke only went looking for Maureen Gorman as a back-up in case something didn't work out - she remembered that Laura's initial donor turned out to have cancer, and therefore, wasn't a viable donor. It was only after Brooke discovered the "Wildwind" drawing that Brooke suspected that Maureen Gorman might actually be Maria Santos.
  6. This material is approaching (if not already hit) the writers strike of 1988, so it a little murky.
  7. The peeps at PP should watch this!
  8. DC and BE may have had chemistry, but the characters should have never been together given the history between them - and they neutered Adam to make it even slightly plausible.
  9. KWAK was one of the worst characters of AMC - you couldn't even hate her enough to like her.
  10. I, for one, would absolutely not want this to be the result of the cliffhanger - just too damn sad. I would prefer that JR attempted to shoot the room up, but was caught and stopped, and entered Oakhaven - the show could start with him coming back to Pine Valley. Brooke, Adam, Marian and Stuart have moved to Pigeon Hollow, and could always come for a visit - after all Brooke owns Chandler Mansion.
  11. Years ago, they had a CD released for Y&R, you could also check Amazon.
  12. I suspect the tail end of Dixie/Tad/Brooke was definitely wrapped up and set up because of MEK's departure (and hopeful return). In 1990, even though Brooke lost Tad (after he most definitely pursued her), she gained a child - something she was told would never happen for her again, and made all the more sad by Laura's death - so the scale kind of balanced itself out. In 1993, I just wanted to smack Tad and Dixie (a couple that I liked even though Dixie had a big hand in destroying Brooke's marriage to Adam) because they couldn't get their act together, and dragged everyone around them down. They were too selfish to root for, and then the writers didn't seem to have any plans for them after the torrid affair. Brooke got to be both angry and mean, but I wished that Tad and Dixie had suffered far more.
  13. Tad pursued Brooke pretty hard in 1990, and when he left Brooke thought she got what she deserved for allowing herself to fall in love with him, and he returned to Dixie. That history is also why Brooke went slightly nuts in 1993 when Tad cheated on her with Dixie, after Brooke said good-bye to Edmund at Willow Lake.
  14. Like just cut and paste link?
  15. Can anyone explain how to put up a YT video?
  16. I always thought that Erica and Adam had chemistry, and a lot of it, but it stopped for me with a kiss. They just didn't go there for me. I just always thought Adam's love for Erica bordered on obsessed, when it was in the romantic arena. I never got the feeling that Erica was "in love" with Adam. In 2008, it might have finally been the chance to take their relationship to a real romance, but with Pratt telling the story and the ageism at ABC, if it was happening at all, it was off-camera. I think their relationship was best summed up by Erica in 2010 when Brooke asked her Erica to help out with Adam - despite their love/hate relationship, she would always consider Adam a friend.
  17. Erica cared for Adam as a friend, and even that was always put to the test. However, I also think that Adam's love for Erica was obsession, never actual love.
  18. I never thought of Erica and Adam as a romantic love - more like frenemies.
  19. Tom & Livia would have been an interesting in the political arena, and it could have fit nicely into the story as Livia moved up the judicial ladder. It seemed liked they kept Edmund on the canvas purely to lure ELC back to the show, and IMO, she wasn't that big of a commodity. For that matter, ELC and JC actually seemed to become more of a liability at the end when their real life relationship became a factor. Although I also believe the show put too much emphasis on real life romances in stories with Edmund/Maria and Mateo/Hayley in the '90s. The structure behind Maria's return was monkeyed up from the beginning - when no one comes out a winner, why would anyone want to watch it?! It is like no one in the writers' room ever asked that question. The show should have skipped the Alex/Edmund/Anna mess (Richard Culliton was at least smart enough to pair up characters with chemistry and conflict), and had Brooke and Edmund reunite after the fiasco with Eliot. It was a prime moment to take the leap of bridging Edmund and Brooke's friendship back to a romantic relationship. Comfort leads to something more, and then Brooke and Edmund spend the next few months wanting more, but both are afraid to admit it. They could have married them off in May of the next year, and then the following May, in pops Maria to cause the happily married couple some grief - and conflict, which is needed for happily married couples.
  20. While I think Adam could be villainous, IMO he was a gray character. DC wouldn't have lasted on the show for almost thirty years being all dark. Zach definitely seemed like a replacement for Edmund, but it seemed like the show was done with JC shortly after his reunion with Maria, and it was reunion that was always intended to be short-term - Edmund's paralysis interfered with his ability to be a real husband, and then, Zach's arrival. Maria's back from the dead storyline failed for many reasons, but one of the biggest problems was that Edmund seemed to be the least important character in the equation - and it was the beginning of his character assassination. Edmund came off as a jerk throughout most of it.
  21. Edmund's senate race was ludicrous - Maria's absurd past came back to haunt him, and was partly to blame for Edmund losing the race. They also had some blonde chick - don't recall her name - hired by Adam to seduce Edmund, so his candidate Calloway (I believe) would keep the office. As I always think, it would have made more sense for Maria to have caused a scandal with Edmund and Brooke as husband and wife - it would have also had greater impact because of the history between Adam and Brooke.
  22. The Brooke Engiish House as it was renamed is still supposed to be up and running.
