I have no idea what I want, but I think I'd like a new TQ Ficathon banner. I like this one, and I like that it connects with the theme of the community, but I'm itching for a change. And your banners just rock the Casbah, you know? I'm coming up with a massively groovy bunny for Prompt #40, aka The NeverEnding Situation. I'm on my fourth bunny, but I think this might be the one. Maybe. Perhaps.... Oh, who knows???? Ya'll love me, even if I am a complete flake. EDIT: Just finished reading the chat transcripts. The quote from Luke is "Et tu, Alice?" It's Latin, and basically means, "You, too, Alice?" The reference is to Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. When Brutus, Caesar's right hand man, joins in the assassination, Caesar turns to him and says, "Et tu, Brute?" It's usually said when someone--a close friend or ally--betrays you. Class dismissed. Please read act one of Shaw's Mrs. Warren's Profession for tomorrow and be prepared to discuss Edwardian morality in Industrial Age England for a grade.

Hooked, I like your way even better. They haven't been sleeping together--only everything but. Yeah, that making out on the couch thing is not really an "old married couple" way of handling it. Of course, they probably have tried, only to be interrupted by Ghost!Alan. Yeah, I feel better now. I love coming here. You guys make me feel much better.

Because it needs to be said, and because it just really blows all my whining and griping out the water-- I think I will never hear a sexier phrase ever committed to film than Jane Elliot as Tracy whispering "oopsa-daisy." Enough said.

Oooh, ILTQ, you have made this palateable. And I promise, I loved loved LOVED the way TG/JE played these scenes. The tenderness, love, and respect between them is so apparent when they talk, when they look at each other. I overlooked the awkwardness, though, but in retrospect I see it. My brain can make this work. Thank you. Now I just have to fic the puppy to at least make it fanon....

Thanks, KNH. You clarified my feelings on the whole topic. I think it would have been perfect without that reference, and I just feel...hollowed by it. Like this is just a thrown-together thing, like they aren't worthy of a build-up given to couples like Maxie and Coop, or gods save us, Ric and Sam. Not to mention that this states Tracy has been putting up with Luke's philandering and that whole Laura thing while she was sleeping with him! It really makes her look a little pathetic, imho, and Luke looks even more callous and cruel because of it. Simon. We need a Simon for Tracy. That's it--until further notice, I'm holding out for a hero. A real hero, for Tracy. (Of course, further notice will probably be "The Morning After" they do it at the MetroCourt. I'm so damned easy.)

I am the single most ungrateful wretch of all time. We've had more LuNacy kisses and touching in the last week than in all two years of their marriage combined. You know what? I'd trade it all for one kiss as meaningful as the one they shared on the patio the night of Justus's funeral. Don't get me wrong--I love that LuNacy is going forward, that they're acknowleging their feelings and their relationship. I love that they're being portrayed as a sexual couple (finally! a real couple over 40!). I love that they're getting screen time. But I hate the revisionist history, the assumption that these two sexual beings have been sleeping together forever without any prior allusions or acknowlegement, and the arrogance of TIIC to think they could just CHANGE the dynamic of the LuNacy relationship without precedent or context and none of us would notice! I want love and romance for this couple, but I want a context. I want it to mean something, besides the writers deciding one day, okay, let's put Luke and Tracy in bed together. I know I'm asking for a lot. I'm asking a soap to have good writing, to be consistent, to have at least the same editorial standards of the most basic fanfic. I know whatever the monkeys with keyboards come up with, Jane and Tony will knock out of the ballpark. But I mourn the loss of my context, of my build-up, of my chance to see these two go from enemies to friends to lovers. Because, man--what a trip that would have been! That's the last I will moan about this, okay?

I agree with Hooked. I think the ultimatum might not be so big a thing. If it were JaSam, Liaison, or Lulu/3 Stooges, we could expect an ultimatum lasting several weeks with endless dialogue on the nature of the ultimatum, how the ultimatum will affect all around them, the guilt attached to the ultimatum, the potential for damage if someone else finds out about the ultimatum, and of course, non-stop chatter about said ultimatum by Epiphany, Bobbie, Mike, Max, Alice and all other non-involved parties who need justification for their paychecks and are thrown in randomly to prop the Big Spring Ultimatum Storyline. But we're talking LuNacy, so I'm thinking three lines, tops. Oh, I forgot to mention the six new characters brought in as players in Spring Ultimatum 2007: The Year It All Changed. I'm thinking Cruise of Deception, minus the intelligence.... But we're STILL talking about LuNacy, so it will probably wind up on the cutting room floor.

It made me uncomfortable because I see this as a sign of possible things to come--that TIIC will never take Luke and Tracy seriously as a couple, and their entire romance will be just randomness thrown together for "comic relief." They are the most interesting couple on the show, imho, and they're just...well, you know....
