  1. Due to Twitter being so difficult for anyone to read now if they aren't on the site (or even then) I can't really post the links, but there's been days-long meltdown from a deeply disturbed writer at Current Affairs (the "left" publication that fired many of its workers when they wanted a co-op, and whose gadfly head was deeply involved in coaching Tara Reade), as her attacking the Buttigiegs and their kids led to a rabbit hole of "Matthew Shepard was killed in a drug deal gone bad," propaganda, pedo apologias, belittling and doubting a woman who was raped due to the claim that she didn't want to have anal sex, a long history of ranting and raving about the horrors of gay marriage and how evil white gay men sicced their dogs on her, and how she is "politically queer," which apparently from various comments made by people who know her, and by her own incoherent screeds, means that she only sleeps with men and has no interest in women, but just feels queer. All of this stuff is a great reminder, if any was ever needed these days, or just how virulently homophobic so many on the left are, even if they mask it in fancier language than their friends on the right.
  2. I know people don't really care for Politico, but this reminds me of the upcoming campaign finance ruling the GOP is hoping they can use for their gain. https://www.politico.com/news/2023/08/29/gop-campaign-finance-citizens-united-00113235 Swan is another who became too memed and loved online for his own good. I remember a lot of hype over Jeff Roe due to his work with Ted Cruz, but he mostly seems to be known now for bleeding money. Even if it's a tactic, he's very much right about Nikki Haley - everything about her screams unpleasant and phony. Fawning media coverage goes a long way, but I'll never forget her calling for Sen. Warnock to be deported.
  3. That was also just the limit of early television. Beyond that, black and white can definitely be more forgiving - I still remember how much cheaper Dark Shadows looked to me when they switched to color. I do notice many of these early episodes also seem to deliberately be set at night to help offset some of the issues. Even then there is sometimes an interesting set or visual surprise, like this old painted backdrop at dusk, which simultaneously is very cheap yet also oddly affecting to me [similar to something from Wizard of Oz or the opening of Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore]. I hope a more restored version of this episode will pop up someday.
  4. He made some valid points - they have chased the streamers and in the long run lost.
  5. I'm seeing this in various places - very heavy reminders of either there being no point in voting, or pushing Cornel West, or people pushing the narrative about how black people now think Trump is cool because he has a mug shot. I've also been seeing even more of the old smears against the Obamas - Michelle is a man, their children are another couple's children, Obama is gay, Obama murdered his chef (that's an old Clinton favorite). I see that !@#$%^&*] Carlson is now laundering the Obama gay stuff on his increasingly irrelevant Twitter stream. At this point they seem to have no real strategy beyond just cranking out material as fast as possible in order to survive...that or bringing in their friends to give them jobs while they still can. I do wonder how much interest the whole Trump trainwreck still has compared to 5-6 years ago, even with people who want to see him locked up.

  7. Meg Ryan has directed and is starring in a new romantic comedy.
  8. A reupload of the 1953 episode put up a few days ago. (the uploader said the original had some issue)
  9. That's so hard to watch - the fear and confusion in his eyes. I notice again how gracious many, especially in the press, have been to him in these circumstances compared to Dianne Feinstein.
  10. Glad to hear she's still making new music.
  11. Charles “Chip” Dox Dies; Former Production Designer Was 80 – Deadline
  12. Nicholas Hitchon Dead: Boy’s Life Was Chronicled In ‘Up’ Documentaries – Deadline Michael Apted's "Up" series was well-known, and loved, by generations. Many of the kids inevitably had very mixed feelings (and one had a very ugly falling out with Apted), but Hitchon was one who stayed to the end of the series, where he said he knew he probably wouldn't be alive for the next one. (given that Apted passed a few years ago I'm not sure there will be a next one)
  13. John de Lancie talks about his time with Arleen. Arleen Sorkin Death: John de Lancie Honors ‘Days of Our Lives’ Co-Star – TVLine
  14. I could definitely see Felicia being bitchy (even if we were supposed to see her as the sympathetic figure in this plot), but seeing that clip all I could think was that Cecile, around the same time, and made into a one-note villain in her return, made the comment about Charlie's heart condition that led Frankie to slug her. A "bad" character saying that and a "good" character saying the above just reinforces how amoral the whole canvas had become under JFP.
  15. Even with all Eddie Drueding's old writeups of how unpleasant and plot-driven this story was, it's still tough to take - hearing Felicia shame Sharlene for becoming a prostitute through sexual abuse is just despicable.
  16. This is also true of France: Funny how the people who keep saying take the deal now because all productions will flee never mention these other countries.
  17. https://deadline.com/2023/08/joe-the-plumber-dead-obituary-1235529538/ Hard to believe this incident was once seen as out of the norm. Anyway, I'm sorry to his family.
  18. Same as it ever was. I do think social media helps with this a little bit, getting more knowledge out, but I thought of this comment thread when I saw her Deadline obit that went into great detail about her other work then reduced her time on DAYS to one sentence.
  19. Thanks @Dion So clearly a big transition period.
  20. Thanks. I forgot Stu wasn't involved at Jo's first place. I wonder how long this Henderson House was even around.
  21. Thanks! I checked in the cast thread but didn't see the change as the search on here is hard to navigate. And thanks for answering my question. I can never remember if that's the place Jo and Stu ran in the '50s or another place. The little details we find in these uncovered episodes just help with the overall experience - like finding small puzzle pieces.
  22. Now that we've seen Les Damon playing Jim Wilcox in a 1953 Search episode I guess his credit there runs from 53-54 instead of just 54?
  23. Thanks @j swift
  24. Daily Wire is a trash site run by grifting hatemongers.
  25. Thanks @te. ! I could swear I've never seen this episode before. Have any of you? Is this the first time we've seen the exterior of Henderson House in the surviving episodes? @vetsoapfan @slick jones do you know? Can't remember. The attempt at making up the entryway to the place, with the chairs and "tea dansant" sign, give this a little more life than some of the usual barren soap sets (one of which we see later in the episode). Even if it's not a very exciting episode, somehow 3 characters in 15 minutes still makes me care more than 20 in the hour episodes of today.
