Elaine had a very raucous life and career. She had one of those very rough voices but with the best timing. She may be best known for "I'm Still Here" from Follies, and for her work as Alec Baldwin's mother on 30 Rock. (that and a Cosby Show episode where she choked on a pill or something - I can't remember) I'm Still Here - Elaine Stritch Best Of Jack's Disappointed Mom, Colleen (ft. Elaine Stritch) | 30 Rock Here's a champagne ad she did in the years she lived in the UK. Elaine Stritch Mumm Cordon Rouge advert (1985)

Thanks again @Maxim There was a side of Cord which was always controlling in that Buchanan man way (even if he didn't know he was a Buchanan until around 1986), but I do think he was softer and better natured in his first run. Malone didn't know what to do with him (or a number of other characters). The Dorian clips are very much worth watching. I have to admit when Cassie gets involved and when Dorian starts screaming, I zone out a little, but I did like Cassie thanking Jason. The softer moments with Dorian and Jason, her praising his body and his using his scar to try to get through to her, then the teasing about her lack of friends, are just beautiful. We get a very complex picture here. I also liked the scene where Dorian said she was being paid back for her schemes. I did laugh at Dorian's sexy music being Kenny G. I don't think so.

I think they've been hurt by the Drew story being on pause and as said not moving forward with Michael's own story...and by being so hesitant to move forward with Brook Lynn and Chase splitting (I'm not sure if this baby plot is a backtrack or if they are just adding on even more angst for when they split). They should try to give Tracy a story of her own while Jane is still there.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I was watching a video (it was from about 3 years ago) which chose worst sophomore seasons for a Housewife. They chose (no particular order) Alexis (OC) Leah (NYC) Braunwyn (OC) Siggy (NJ) Teddi (BH) Would you agree with those?

If the actors had ever left at the same time it might have helped, but they probably should have just had Tucker break up with Dinah Lee and leave, reconciling with Trisha offcamera. The actress is the fearsome and ferocious BarBara Luna, who played Maria Roberts, the mother-in-law from hell.

Thanks. A shame they didn't try more with Curtis and Lotty.

How much of the issue with 9 to 5 was ratings and how much was the backstage clashes?

GH: Classic Thread
Thanks again @Franko I appreciated seeing the timely 1986 SOD review. They had similarly good quality reviews in the early '90s before shifting to the mindless and "snarky" tripe of Carolyn Hinsey. Funny how much they echo commentary of today - yay Quartermaines, where is the hospital, where are the vets. Reading your reviews I see how glacial all the stories are, not just Laurelton. I am genuinely stumped about why they drag out the Felicia and Frisco beats so much. Martha Scott was a very well-respected actress. I wonder if she ever spoke about being on GH. Probably just happy for the work. I never knew Penny Johnson was on GH. She was, along with Susan Sullivan, one of the better parts of Castle, before she was dumped so they could give the mediocre leading lady her job (the show was canned that same season).

Thanks @alwaysAMC As you can see, the show had little use for Eleni (and had little respect for whatever didn't move the plot along) to just dump her off even though she and Frank had survived worse. I was not happy with the death of the diner, even though Rauch had made the set look more like a rich child's play version of a diner compared to the previous set. So much history and it always made the Coopers more unique.

A promo for the short-lived 1983 show Masquerade which chooses not to show most of the actual cast members but does show guest stars Cybill Shephard and Richard Roundtree.

RIP: In Memoriam Thread
He was a big Trump booster, so I guess this is what he wanted. I have nothing to say about him beyond that, other than that my grandfather loved Walker, Texas Ranger, so I thank him for giving my granddad a show to love. Just a few days ago I read about a conflict he was having with some construction people over his house, so I'm a little surprised, but I guess every day could be your last. When I first started reading Buffy fan comments (probably around season 5), I quickly realized how hated the character was. I could understand why, as even in his "better" moments Xander was judgmental and passive-aggressive, but I did have a soft spot for Xander in the first few seasons of the show. Brendon had a good way with the quippy Whedon dialogue, was eye candy, and did work well with Charisma and Allyson (onscreen, anyway). After that, everything went south, clearly offcamera as well. I hope he is at peace.

@Maxim This is certainly a strong review to leave off on. Your description of the War of the Buchlords is gripping. Sloan scheming to boot Clint from the Banner is something I knew little about and is a fascinating what might have been. I also like that we are seeing the slow decay of Viki's close relationships with her children. The Dorian scenes are wonderful, showing her fears, most of all, her pride. We get different sides of her with Jason and with Cassie, and as a cherry on top, the scene at the doctor's office with Viki where she just keeps lying and Viki is gracious enough to not say anything to her. The Jason/Dorian relationship has so many layers, with the way he challenges her yet tries to respect her. So much that could have worked for years.

There's some footage from about 11 to 14 minutes. I think the Ava and Alex scenes may already be around, but a few snippets are new to me. Most notably a promo for Steve and Trisha's wedding, which looks gorgeous. If there's footage out there of their wedding, I had forgotten about it. @dc11786 @Kane @Sapounopera @Joseph @Forever8 @Paul Raven @Soaplovers @TheyStartedOnSoaps @Franko @Khan @Vee @rsclassicfanforever @chrisml @Maxim @CrazySexyQ @alwaysAMC @Manny @vote4llama @EricMontreal22 @Soapsuds Just tagging people because there are a number of other soap clips in here too (AW, OLTL, ATWT), and I didn't want to put it everywhere. Most of these clips are probably already around but I am never sure (especially with ATWT).

@CassieFan That's a nice photo. I've barely started the show so I can't help. @dc11786 Beautiful thoughts as always. Very timely as the show was canceled around this period. Post by @tvdidyousee.bsky.social — Bluesky Post by @tvdidyousee.bsky.social — Bluesky

@slick jones John Gabriel's OLTL credit - not sure just how long his run is but he's playing Doctor Hoffman on April 14, 23, 26 1993. I've gone into mid-May but haven't seen any more of him - someone else may know more though.

@Khan The closest Stephanie Williams got to a soap role with a personality (I did like her on Y&R). Anne Marie Johnson re-used some of that performance style on Melrose. @alwaysAMC Happy anniversary! I haven't replied to your recaps as much lately as I have less to say about that period of GL but I still appreciate reading them and will try to pop up more. I appreciate all the time you take and your passion for a show that was a stranger to you.
