  1. Thanks. I guess Kim may have dated him, as I remember her being out with someone in the summer 1984 episodes that are on Youtube, but I don't remember hearing anything about Fairchild and Barbara.
  2. Those are great. I was reading a late 1983 Digest, close to the end of the year, and for ATWT news, they mention John Phillip Law arriving as Reed, who would be in a triangle with Lyla and Maggie. We'd talked about that before. They also mentioned Leon Russom as Zachary, child psychiatrist, who would get involved with Kim, and Norman Snow, as "mysterious" Richard Fairchild, III, who would fall in love with Barbara and also have a story with John. Did all this happen?
  3. No, she hasn't. I think she aged pretty well - even about ten or fifteen years ago when they did one of those Dukes of Hazzard reunion movies, I thought she looked as good as Catherine Bach, or a little better.
  4. Is that how she looked when they fired her
  5. May 1, 1990 Digest.
  6. We will probably get to early 1978, at least, so that covers the end of Kate Mulgrew. I like some of the material now, it's just some is so draining (Jack/Mary) and other material is full of the whole "This couple are fated to be and Delia is stopping them" stuff that I kind of roll my eyes at. I always thought the show should have really gone for Pat/Dee, since he only had chemistry with one Faith, and that was when they weren't really together. I also liked Jill and Seneca. It's a shame that had to end so badly.
  7. I've heard about her teaching speech - what did they think of her? I hope she knows how many fans she gained when her RH run started on Soapnet. I hope she also knows she even made the We Love Soaps top 50 actresses list. http://www.welovesoaps.net/2010/01/50-greatest-soap-actresses-36-sarah.html There was something so real and honest in her performances. She was a very fearless actress. She also had effortless chemistry with everyone. I still can't believe ABC let her go.
  8. Thanks so much for reading them, and commenting! I type all that up but sometimes wonder if it just seems like blather. I'm glad you enjoyed. It's been almost 10 years for me as well. Actually I think it HAS been ten years. I remember it was a few months before 9/11. My first episodes were when Siobhan (the real Siobhan) arrived, with her leg in a cast, and Finn McCool. I loved her from the start. I'm not a huge fan of the stuff currently on RH, so watch sporadically, but I'm trying to stay attached, since this is it. If they just make it a few more years, somehow, then they will surpass their ABC run. And all on only half the show's episodes. I just hope this has helped the careers of the actors. I think it probably has, somewhat - I've always wondered if one of the reasons Ilene got OLTL was her RH glory being broadcast again. BTW, if there are any particular actors you want to see interviews from please let me know.
  9. Louise left the first time because she wanted more storyline. She said she didn't realize, as this was her first soap, that you often have periods of downtime. She was also outspoken about stuff she didn't care for (like feeding Laken her pet pigeon), which probably didn't help.
  10. Media darling "T-Paw" fumbles when trying to explain why he uses "Obamneycare." Presumably he felt that he needed to go back to being nice. The real question is why he came up with a dumbass line like "Obamneycare" in the first place, since most people already associate the two without a cloying catchphrase. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0611/56904.html Minnesota will still be represented by another media darling, the ever-extreme Michelle Bachmann, who is the media's chance to get the Sarah Palin they wanted.
  11. A November 1973 Afternoon TV says that "several months ago" Diana Walker had to abruptly replace Jacquie Courtney for a day due to Jacquie's daughter being hospitalized. I'm not sure if this was the appearance listed as 1974 or if she returned to replace Jacquie again in 1974.
  12. Would this have been Doug Marland? Or DePriest? I guess this was after Mike was widowed? I do wonder if they considered Ann. In 1978, I think it was 1978, Geraldine Court was one of the actors who said she would never want to go back to the show because of writing which offended her. It's certainly a very interesting story which has someone believing they are terminally ill and then when they learn they aren't they're still unhinged and plot this ghoulish plan to get what they want.
  13. If she's going to stir things up then I can see her having some conflict with Tracy. Unless this means she's going to tell Sam she isn't good enough for Jason or whatever. Years ago I used to complain about all the "It's my house" stuff but if it led to some fun comedy I wouldn't mind seeing some of the bickering again.
  14. Thanks for the recap - good to read more about some of the story with Doreen and Carolee. I was reading an interview done with Petronia Paley in the early 90's, and she said that she was very intimidated while at The Doctors, because she had to get used to all the camera equipment and such. She also said they brought her in to have an interracial love story with the son of one of the main doctors. They dropped the story because of the backlash against Valerie and David on DAYS.
  15. I think Robin said she had a lot of issues with the role itself. It's been a while though, I can't remember.
  16. If I were Gina I'd stay away from the rest of the soaps - Victoria is a dead character, no matter who plays her, and Y&R seems to just spit out talented actresses and make them look bad in the process (Maura West being the latest). I hope Tracy can find some happiness.
  17. It's confusing because I think the first Rick left due to not having a story and being put on recurring. Then when they recast he got more story. I think the idea behind Rick was so juicy, I don't know why they didn't mine story out of this especially since they seemed to always struggle with writing for Curtis.
  18. Thanks for the extra insight! I was hoping you'd share some of your thoughts. I'm glad the story wasn't as bad as it could have been. It's a shame that Cruz and Eden left under those circumstances. It seems like they ran out of ideas for Cruz quite a while before A left.
  19. It seems like they weren't entirely sure where to go with Rick, as he was bad, then OK, then really bad. Did you see any of the recast Alex (Robert Dubac)? Thanks for sharing your memories. I think that's most of the Loving stuff of that era I have but when I find more I'll post.
  20. I think she was supposed to stay longer, if she just suddenly vanished with no exit. I'd like to know what the initial long-term story plans for the teen prostitute story were. Was the stuff about the man who was obsessed with April and had murdered his family a quick fill-in story to replace the teen prostitute story? Perhaps they didn't think they could afford Jacquie in a long-term role, or they may have thought she was too identifiable, but I wish they'd tried. I can see her feuding with Gwyn for years. The interview is kind of sad, because she says that she wanted people to know that her absence from daytime was not by her own choice.
  21. I love those old photo shoots SPW used to do. That's also one of the few Loving moments that is on Youtube. Did you get to read any of the stuff I posted, or had you already seen it?
  22. Bleh. I have to say that I liked Bergman a lot more before I started reading soap boards.
  23. Is it Peter Bergman who worked to block any Keemo returns, or does no one care enough to even propose bringing him back?
  24. I think the Abbotts would have had potential if their younger generation (Billy and Colleen) had not been ruined and if the show had not let Ashley and Jack begin to stagnate. For one thing, they shouldn't have still lived in that house. I had a lot of issues with John Abbott, mostly that I thought he had served little purpose (beyond scolding) as his kids got older, and I can understand why the show was at a loss of what to do with him, but the Gloria story was a big mistake and it's still bizarre to me that anyone felt the way to end the story was with John dead and Gloria as the victim of the evil Abbotts. At this point I would bring in Keemo, phase Jack further into a supporting role (or write him out altogether), bring Traci back full time, have her adopt a troubled teenage girl, pair Ashley with a younger, dynamic man who is a big contrast to her but who genuinely respects her, write Billy out for at least a year or two, and fix the embarrassing writing for Abby that entails a woman who looks 30 continuing to behave like a very immature teenager. I would also like the Abbotts to cut ties to the Newmans as much as possible. I would like to see Ashley and Jack, with Ghost John's blessing, destroy Jabot, inside and out, and start all over. The Newman/Abbott stuff is so played out and any scene with Victor mumbling and huffing as Jack purses his lips is about as thrilling as a test pattern.
  25. This is from an early 83 Daytime TV. I wasn't that interested in the article (if you want to see it let me know), I just love this photo, which I hadn't seen before (now someone will tell me it's in 300 different places).
