  2. Scarlett Spears, the eight-year-old actress who is currently making waves in Hollywood with roles on “General Hospital” and “Wicked: For Good,” is opening up about loneliness in the latest episode of “State of Mind with Maurice Benard,” premiering Sunday, December 7 at 1:00 p.m. ET/10:00 a.m. PT on YouTube. In a remarkably candid conversation with Maurice Benard, who also plays her TV dad on “General Hospital,” Spears opens up about loneliness and fear of silence, telling Benard about what makes her sad. “Yeah, sometimes it would make me sad if I’m being ignored… I just don’t like being alone… like being in my bedroom… it scares me when I’m alone and I’m like ignored.” She adds, “Whenever I’m playing with my dolls… I’ll ask my dad to turn the TV on, and when I hear voices, it feels like people are actually in the room with me… I just don’t want it to sound like silence.” “This is a mental health talk with an eight-year-old. It’s amazing… You have to be comfortable in the silence,” says Benard in response to Spears’ revelation. “Now that I’m thinking of it, I am getting that way, that I don’t need the TV anymore to keep me company… Something I like to do in silence is draw because I can actually think [for] myself,” reflects Spears. “You’re smart for your age… I didn’t think we would have this conversation,” shares Benard in response. Watch the clip below. Spears can be seen in “Wicked: For Good,” the wildly successful film starring Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda. In the movie, Spears portrays a young Glinda. Meanwhile, on “General Hospital,” Spears appears in the recurring role of Donna Corinthos, the daughter of Sonny (Benard) and Carly (Laura Wright). Launched in July 2020, “State of Mind with Maurice Benard” focuses on mental health and mental health awareness. The podcast is hosted by Daytime Emmy Award winner and New York Times bestselling author (“Nothing General About It: How Love (and Lithium) Saved Me On and Off General Hospital”) Maurice Benard. Following each episode’s release on YouTube, an audio-only edition is later made available to all major podcast platforms, including Spotify, Amazon Music, iHeartRadio, Apple and Google Podcasts. 3. Greg Vaughan has been a prominent fixture of daytime television for nearly 25 years, having played several key characters across “The Young and the Restless,” “General Hospital” and “Days of our Lives.” Still, it’s his new role on “Beyond the Gates” where he gets to come alive, playing his first original role after having previously portrayed recasts. Beginning Monday, December 8, Vaughan makes his debut in Fairmont Crest as Dr. Kial Rollins, a widower and father of two grown adult children, both male, and an orthopedic surgeon. Kial (pronounced like Kyle) is athletic, personable, and spontaneous. After his wife died a few years ago, Kial became a traveling physician, allowing him to explore the country, experience different cultures, and meet interesting people. Kial has romanced women, but hasn’t met the one who could get him to settle down again – will a blind date change his mind? Kial’s game to find out. Family Life, Move to Texas & Connecting To AtlantaThat said, filming “Beyond the Gates” in Atlanta rather than Los Angeles marks a big adjustment for Vaughan, though he says, “It’s really only been the best for me and where my life is right now.” Greg Vaughan “Pre-COVID, I moved out of Los Angeles, so then I was on ‘Queen Sugar’ in New Orleans, and so when the shutdown happened and all that … and then I was living on the East Coast for a bit, and then I moved to Texas four years ago, four and a half years ago, and then let me tell you, I can get to Atlanta much faster than I could to L.A., but the beauty with getting to L.A. is I could literally leave the same day and be on set at nine in the morning,” Vaughan continued, referring to the time difference between Texas and California. “At 7:00 a.m., it was 5:00 a.m. there in L.A., so I could fly in and land around 8:15, 8:30, and be on set at 9:00 a.m. every day. And it gave me that window, just like for me, it was great. I could sleep in the comfort of my own house and make sure my kids were at school. Everybody was good.” As for Atlanta, Vaughan loves the area, particularly because it’s not far from the University of Alabama, where his eldest son, Jathan James Vaughan, attends as a freshman. “For me, I’m less than three hours to get to him. So if I got a day off, I’m like, ‘Hey, you want to go to dinner? You want to go to lunch? I’m coming.’ But sometimes I’m more excited than he is. He is like, ‘Dad, I’m busy. I got to be at my house. I got a fraternity party that night.’ I’m like, ‘I’m your father.’ He’s like, ‘I see enough of you already. You come in every month.'” Welcome to Fairmont Crest, Kial RollinsWhen offered the role of Kial on “Beyond the Gates,” the only thing he knew going in was that his character would be a doctor. Since then, Vuaghan notes, “Kial is a widower of two adult young men, and he’s a traveling orthopedic surgeon. So he’s a bit of a nomad, to a sense, because as a widower, he’s just trying to, not only, I mean, he’s a father. He has two young men who are trying to find their paths in life. So he’s been rooted in this world that he wants to share with his partner in crime. And so not having that mirror extension of yourself, it’s kind of like he’s dove into all his work, and along the way he’s made new friends at medical conventions and stuff like that.” Revealing what brings Kial to Fairmont Crest, Vaughan says, “[Kial] gets called to come to Fairmont Crest to be at the hospital and runs into one of his old friends from a medical thing, wherever those doctors go or those conditions. So that opens the door for friends and acquaintances, and it just becomes this little turnstile. It just opened up. And so he travels. He’s not there all the time. He does leave, but he’s not rooted there. He doesn’t have roots there.” While there will definitely be some characters Kial interacts with more consistently, Vaughan shares that his first day of filming included spending the entire day with more than 20 cast members for 15 or 16 hours, which isn’t surprising given that the WinterFest celebration currently taking place marks his introduction to the canvas. Greg Vaughan Though he’s recurring on “Beyond the Gates,” Vaughan is looking to spend as much time on the show as the producers and writers allow, including if that means establishing the Rollins family as another foundational family like the Duprees. “Wow, that’d be a legacy family name,” responded the actor when asked about the possibility. However, he says, “That’s something you’d need to talk to [series creator, head writer, executive producer and showrunner] Michele Val Jean about.” Ditto for why the show opted to spell his character’s name differently from the traditional “Kyle” spelling. At present, Kial’s children will not be joining him in Fairmont Crest, though Vaughan emphasized that the two males are within the college age of 18 and not the older 25+. While that could change down the road, considering the ages of the current crop of young adults, it does make one wonder where they might fit in if and when the show chooses to write them in formally, and who they might interact with. That said, considering the diverse canvas, there is nothing currently stated about the race of either child, with Vaughan clarifying, “There is nothing established. I have mentioned them in conversation, and at some point, I do feel that they will be brought to the show. I hope so. That would be great. I mean, to actually introduce me, I mean, I’m a father of three boys, and it works great. There’s a lot of mixed race on the canvas already, so that hasn’t been a conversation that Michele and I, or anybody else, have had.” Fresh And NewWhile not on contract at the moment, that could change in the future. “Yeah, it was something I think they wanted to see,” says Vaughan, referring to establishing his character first. “I think this is the show, as we all know, and something I’ve already said that ‘Beyond the Gates is so fresh and new, but it just feels like… I mean, I’ve done primetime, nighttime television and daytime, so it just feels like I’m going to set, but I’m surrounded by a lot of people, and it is so different. It’s not something that’s got a 60-year timeline. It doesn’t have 14,000 episodes. This is 200 plus.” “They just got their pickup for 250 episodes,” adds Vaughan, talking about the show being picked up for a second season, which begins airing in early 2026. “I think Michele just wanted to put in this dynamic and weave it into her amazing quilt of this show that she’s cultivated. She’s got this world going on, and however my Kial Rollins intercedes and leaves seed, or whatever, to make more children and maybe a family name would be great. I don’t know.” Ultimately, Vaughan shares that while things remain undetermined for now, for him, the excitement and professionalism are all there. “They’re just getting, I mean, like I said, my first two days, it was like 14-hour days, I think 15-hour days. And I was like, ‘Wow.’ They were like, ‘We have to push things.’ They’re not for it. We live under such a thumb and the tight budget, they’re very restricted of how much we can’t go over. This is a hardworking group, but nobody shows if they’re tired or not. They got smiles on their face, they’re excited. They’re like, ‘Wow.’ They love big moments that are happening. I’m just like, ‘This is different, I haven’t felt like this in 10 years!'” Kial: The RomancerAlthough he couldn’t give much away about Kial’s upcoming blind date, Vaughan did share, with a smile on his face, “It’s going to be magical. I mean, I’m just letting sparks happen wherever, and if they happen, they happen. I’m just letting it settle out.” Greg Vaughan, Daphnée Duplaix Core DifferencesAs for how his character on “Beyond the Gates” differs from his previous soap roles, including Diego Guittierez on “The Young and the Restless,” Lucky Spencer on “General Hospital,” Eric Brady on “Days of our Lives” and even Calvin on “Queen Sugar,” Vaughan points out, “Lucky and Calvin were both cops. And then Eric was a photographer, then found God in faith and became holy, then became a priest, then became a photographer again after he was denounced and defrocked. So this character is brand new. It’s not a recast. It’s the first time [I’m originating a role], and Michele gave me that freedom and just said, ‘Greg, I want you to do this. I want this to be yours.'” “I was given such freedom,” basks Vaughan. “And also because of my experience in daytime, I think it was very well respected. I’ve been just given this environment to come in and be me, and without really direction in a way that’s not, that it’s not being offered, because I’ve been on sets that were just like, ‘Hey, here’s the notes, here’s your blocking.’ There were past ‘Hey,’ conversations about your choices, or we’re doing what we’re trying to gain here. What are we setting up? What’s the path?’ [Meanwhile], this has become like, ‘I love what you’re doing. Just do you.'” Growing TalentWhile several of the show’s cast members are new to soaps, Vaughan’s being a veteran isn’t going to his head. He points out that there’s no, “See, that’s a professional. This is how you do this job. That’s why we have Greg V on the show,” noting he’s “not that guy.” He does, however, feel validated compared with previous experiences. “I’ve been so validated in so many ways that it gives me reason to do what I do, and I love what I do. I show up to be my best and let that person be their best when they have to be.” During his time at “General Hospital,” Vaughan reveals that some of the young talent on the show at the time were always at their best, and the same can be said of some of his younger co-stars at “Beyond the Gates.” Julie Berman, Greg Vaughan “I’ve seen such young and vivacious risk takers on this show that I’ve only seen twice happen before: Julie Marie Berman [ex-Lulu Spencer] was the first, and then Natalia Livingston [ex-Emily Quartermaine] from ‘General Hospital.'” Vaughan adds, “When I saw Julie, as she was the first girl who played Lulu, I was like, ‘Did y’all see what I just saw? I’ve seen that twice already on ‘Beyond the Gates.'” Unsurprisingly, Berman and Livingston each won a Daytime Emmy Award for their roles on “General Hospital.” Vaughan later took home the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2018 for his role on “Days of our Lives.” “They have really found some really, really powerful talent. And I’m just like, ‘Wow, this is, and everybody, I kid you not, what is being scoped and presented to the audience, to the viewer, about ‘Beyond the Gates’ defies by leaps and bounds, everything, and it just mirrors everything that ‘Beyond the Gates’ is interior. They laugh, they smile, they’re happy. So dig in.'” Why Fans Should Tune In“I’m a fan of ‘Beyond the Gates.’ I’ve become a fan of a man who hasn’t seen, or I’ve witnessed by watching, or by being present,” states Vaughan, when asked why fans from all the shows he’s been on and should find their way to “Beyond the Gates.” “I’m very excited about what is being written, the storytelling that is being shared, that is being cultivated, and all these families, no matter just the conflict, rejoice, and when they come together, and I mean, it’s a beautiful show,” continues Vaughan. “It’s really pretty: costumes, the set, the talent. This is a very unique and special show that’s happening, and I’m just very glad to be a contributing thought to that I could bring value.” “I love each and every one who supported me and appreciated the work that I’ve done over the course of many shows that I’ve been on,” continues Vaughan. “But I know that they will love this show, and because they watch it, we have the opportunity to keep making this magic.” While there might be some detractors, and he’s become aware of them, Vaughan says, “A lot of people, I mean, I’ve heard stories where people are like, ‘Why?’ And then it’s like, ‘Hey, I’m going to make people rethink, tune it in a little different, I’m ready to reshape something, a narrative.'” Note: The post ‘Beyond The Gates’ Newcomer Greg Vaughan: “I Haven’t Felt Like This In 10 Years!” (EXCLUSIVE) first appeared on Soap Opera Network. 10. Need To Know Despite a minor week-to-week decline, “The Bold and the Beautiful” remained the highest-rated soap among Women 18-49 (0.20 rating) for the seventh time in nine weeks, including ties. “General Hospital” continued to see week-to-week increases in the key demos, setting season highs among Women 18-49 (0.19 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.27 rating). “Let’s Make a Deal,” “The View,” “Beyond the Gates” and “NBC News Daily” tied or set new season highs among Women 25-54. During the week of November 17-21, 2025, “The Bold and the Beautiful” was again the top soap among Women 18-49, outperforming its lead-in, “The Young and the Restless,” for the seventh time in nine weeks, including ties. The half-hour drama held a +0.02 rating advantage over its hour-long sister series in the key sales demographic, while both shows were tied among Women 25-54 (0.34 rating), along with “The View” and the first half-hour of “Let’s Make a Deal.” “The Bold and the Beautiful” was up +0.01 week-to-week among Women 25-54 (0.34 rating vs. 0.33 rating) and up +48,000 among Total Viewers (2.617 million vs. 2.569 million), with the soap attracting its second-largest audience of the young 2025-2026 television season. While it also attracted its second-largest audience of the season with 2.925 million viewers, “The Young and the Restless” ranked 10th among Women 18-49 (0.18 rating), tying its second-lowest performance of the season. Its performance among Women 18-49 (0.14 rating) is a bit concerning, however. The soap was up +61,000 viewers week-to-week and up +341,000 over the year ago performance of former time slot occupant “The Talk” (1.614 million vs. 1.273 million). “The View” tied its season high among Women 18-49 (), while setting new season highs among Women 25-54 (0.34 rating) and Total Viewers (2.483 million). The long-running talk show was up 0.02 year over year among Women 18-49 and Women 25-54. It was also up +0.01 week-to-week among Women 25-54. With 1.447 million viewers tuning in, “GMA3” set a new season high among Total Viewers, Women 25-54 (0.22 rating) and Women 18-49 (0.16 rating). The program was on par with its year ago performance in the demos, while gaining +94,000 viewers compared to the same week last year. 12. Need To Know A special standalone episode of “The Young and the Restless” will air on Tuesday, December 9. The episode will feature highlights from Lauren Fenmore’s (Tracey E. Bregman) and Michael Baldwin’s (Christian Le Blanc) 20 years of marriage. The next standalone episode of “The Young and the Restless” will air on Tuesday, December 9, and it will celebrate the 20th wedding anniversary of Lauren Fenmore (Tracey E. Bregman) and Michael Baldwin (Christian Le Blanc). First reported by TV Guide Magazine in its latest triple issue (December 1-21, 2025), on newsstands now, Le Blanc told the outlet he was surprised when he got word that the show was looking to honor the anniversary of his and his co-stars’ alter egos, saying, “Tracey knows dates, times, years, everything. I was not clocking it at all. I was like, ‘Ooh, what? Yay!’” Look for flashbacks to be a central part of this episode, with Le Blanc saying, “Those montage episodes are sometimes very difficult.” He adds, “I had to see as much as I could of the clip before coming in or out of those memories. I think you are all going to love the stuff they picked for this.” Crediting the show’s writers for keeping the couple vibrant even after two decades, Le Blanc notes, “We have been very, very lucky with the writing of this couple. There’s so much fun to it.” Note: The post ‘The Young And The Restless’ To Celebrate 20th Wedding Anniversary Of Lauren Fenmore & Michael Baldwin With Special Standalone Episode first appeared on Soap Opera Network. 15. “One Life to Live” alum Dan Gauthier (ex-Kevin Buchanan) has joined “Days of our Lives” as a recast of Peter Blake, TV Guide Magazine reports in its latest triple issue (December 1-21, 2025), on newsstands now. Jason Brooks Set to make his debut in Salem beginning with the Friday, December 19 episode of the Peacock exclusive series, Gauthier replaces Jason Brooks (“Baywatch”), who last appeared in the role in 1998. Though he’s new to Salem, Gauthier will find himself surrounded by familiar faces, particularly his former “One Life to Live” co-star John-Paul Lavoisier, who previously played Rex Balsom on the ABC soap and now appears as Philip Kiriakis. “I knew John-Paul Lavoisier and Stacy Haiduk [Kristen DiMera], so it was really fun to reconnect,” Gauthier says of his first days on set. “Everybody was so kind and accepting and welcoming. I couldn’t ask for anything better.” While it’s been more than 27 years since the character last appeared on the long-running soap opera, which recently celebrated its 60th anniversary, the timing offers a new opportunity for story for the actor. “I went in with ‘Whatever the dialogue and the storyline are, it’s just my own take on this,’” explained Gauthier to the outlet of his interpretation of the character in 2025. “I didn’t watch anything or do any research as far as what had happened in the past. I just took what was in front of me and went that way.” Though details on what Peter has been up to over the decades remain to be seen, look for Peter to reunite with his family, the DiMeras, including Billy Flynn (Chad DiMera), Thaao Penghlis (Tony DiMera), Dan Feuerriegel (EJ DiMera) and Haiduk’s Kristen DiMera. “I don’t want to give up too much because that’s the fun,” he teases. “The surprise to viewers is him being there or how he is there.” Look for Gauthier to also share scenes with newcomer Tyler Joseph Andrews, who plays Theo Carver, Peter’s nephew through the character’s late sister, Lexie Carver. Meanwhile, Gauthier’s time is reportedly limited, though he’d welcome a return to soaps on a more consistent basis, saying, “I had a great time, and it was nothing but positive for me.” In 2007, Gauthier received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Kevin Buchanan on “One Life to Live.” He portrayed the role from 2003-2007, and returned for a second and final run from 2009-2010. Outside of daytime, Gauthier’s credits include roles in such shows as “Lost,” “Make It or Break It,” “No Ordinary Family,” “Hot in Cleveland,” “Faking It,” “The Mentalist,” “Criminal Minds” and “NCIS: Los Angeles,” among others. He also starred in several TV movies, including this year’s “The Girl in the Garage: The Laura Cown Story,” “Help for the Holidays,” “The 404” and “Game Shakers,” among others. 16. Need To Know “The Bold and the Beautiful” was the highest rated soap among Women 18-49 (0.23 rating) for the sixth time in eight weeks, including ties. “General Hospital” recovered from its week ago series low performance during the second full week of the since-concluded Disney/YouTube TV carriage dispute. “The View” tied its season high among Women 18-49 (0.23 rating) and set a new season high among Women 25-54 (0.33 rating). While the two-week Disney/YouTube TV carriage dispute didn’t resolve until late Friday evening, November 14, it didn’t seem to deter “General Hospital” fans from finding other ways to watch their favorite ABC daytime drama series. For the week, the long-running soap opera was up +0.03 week-to-week among Women 18-49 (0.17 rating vs. 0.14 rating) and up +0.01 among Women 25-54 (0.22 rating vs. 0.21 rating), though the show remained considerably down in the latter category compared to its performance during the same week last year (0.22 rating vs. 0.32 rating). With 1.803 million viewers tuning in, the show was up +14,000 viewers week-to-week. Although its performance will not factor into its official season average due to being retitled “View-ABC” under Nielsen rules, “The View” averaged 2.345 million viewers for the week, and marked season highs among Women 18-49 (0.23 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.33 rating). At CBS, “The Bold and the Beautiful” was once again the top soap among Women 18-49, marking the sixth time in eight weeks that the half-hour drama has beaten or tied its lead-in, “The Young and the Restless,” for No. 1 among soaps. Meanwhile, both half hours of “The Price is Right” remain tops in both key sales demographics. With a 0.23 rating, “The Bold and the Beautiful” was up +0.01 week-to-week among Women 18-49, though it lost some ground among Women 25-54 (0.33 rating vs. 0.35 rating). The series did manage to gain +103,000 viewers compared to the previous week (2.569 million vs. 2.466 million), and it posted its best overall performance among Total Viewers in four weeks. Also seeing week-to-week gains and marking season highs were both half hours of “The Price is Right” (4.319 million – part two / 3.853 million – part one). Despite being down week-to-week among Women 18-49 (0.21 rating vs. 0.24 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.36 rating vs. 0.42 rating), “The Young and the Restless” still managed to see an slight uptick among Total Viewers, up +11,000 (2.860 million vs. 2.849 million). “Beyond the Gates” was up +22,000 viewers week-to-week (1.553 million vs. 1.531 million), while remaining flat among Women 25-54 (0.25 rating) and ahead of time slot competitor “General Hospital” (0.25 rating vs. 0.22 rating). The new CBS soap opera was down -0.01 among Women 18-49, and down just a bit compared to the year ago performance of former time slot holder “The Talk” in both demographics. That said, “Beyond the Gates” attracted +332,000 more viewers this year than “The Talk” last year (1.553 million vs. 1.221 million). “NBC News Daily” continues to shine this season, up +196,000 viewers compared to the same week last year (1.356 million vs. 1.160 million). Another standout is both half hours of “Let’s Make a Deal,” each marking season highs among Total Viewers (2.541 million – part two / 2.163 million – part one). Wrap-Up What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of November 10-14, 2025 among Women 18-49 rating, Women 25-54 rating, Households and Total Viewers, including week-to-week and year-over-year comparisons. Note*: Figures under the 2024 column for “Beyond the Gates” are compared to the performance of the former time slot occupant, “The Talk.” “TODAY with Jenna & Friends” is compared with the performance of its predecessor, “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna.” Meanwhile, “GMA3” is compared with its predecessor, “GMA3: What You Need to Know.” Additionally, 2024 comparisons, particularly Households and Total Viewers, were unavailable to this publication for most daytime broadcast shows, unlessed stated otherwise, until at least February 2025. Further, starting with the 2025-2026 television season, ratings are based on Live+Same Day Big Data + Panel, while figures under the 2024 column are based on Nielsen Live+Same Day Panel-only data. During the two-week carriage dispute between Disney and YouTube TV, “The View” was retitled “VIEW-ABC” while “GMA3” was retitled to “GMA3-ABC.” Week of November 10-144, 2025 Rankers Women 18-49 Rating Rank / Show / NetworkThis WeekLast Week2024*1. 17. The Monday, December 1 episode of “Beyond the Gates” will feature an appearance by “The Real Housewives of Potomac” stars Gizelle Bryant and Dr. Wendy Osefo. As revealed in a preview for next week, the reality TV stars will appear in scenes alongside cast members Lauren Buglioli (Vanessa McBride) and Karla Mosley (Dani Dupree). In the episode, Vanessa fires back when her business decisions are called into question by Dani and some fellow club members (Bryant and Osefo). As previously reported, Bryant and Osefo are following in the footsteps of Karen Huger, their co-star from “The Real Housewives of Potomac,” who made an uncredited cameo appearance on the daytime drama when it first premiered in late February, where she made the infamous statement, “Welcome to Fairmont Crest,” after Hayley (Marquita Goings) received a well-desrved slap across the face by Dani. “It’s going to be great because it brings authenticity to the setting of Fairmont Crest, and so I think it’s going to be fun for the fans,” said Daphnée Duplaix, who portrays Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson, during an appearance this summer on WKRC Local 12 News. 23. Need To KnowLauralee Bell is developing a primetime soap opera with “As The World Turns” alum Martha Byrne. Michael Damian was one of the producers of “The Wrong Paris,” the Netflix global hit film starring Miranda Cosgrove (“iCarly”) and Pierson Fodé (“The Bold and the Beautiful”) that even overtook the juggernaut that is/was “KPop Demon Hunters,” ranking #1 on the chart for a single week. With their fictional characters’ on-screen wedding now a thing of the past following the conclusion of their two-part celebration on Monday, November 24, “The Young and the Restless” stars Lauralee Bell (Christine “Cricket” Blair) and Michael Damian (Danny Romalotti) are keeping themselves busy off-screen, with outside projects that are either currently in development or recently released. Martha Byrne In the case of Bell, she’s getting into the primetime soap opera producing game with a project she’s developing alongside “As The World Turns” alum Martha Byrne (ex-Lily Snyder), which comes more than a decade since Bell netted her first-ever Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Class — Short Format Daytime Program for “mI promise,” the 2013 short drama, she wrote, direcected, executive produced and starred in. Watch “mI promise” on YouTube “It’s weird because the business is so crazy, it’s quiet, and then it gets busy again, and now there’s a bit of interest coming at us right now, so we’re just waiting to hear if this company wants to dive in. But yeah, it’s a primetime [soap]. Well, I still talk like we’re in the nineties, but yes, it would be, I love that. It’s like a ‘Dynasty,'” says Bell, giving a tidbit about the untitled project’s premise. Comparing the traditional concept of “primetime” with today’s hybrid version when factoring in streaming, Bell notes, “My daughter and I, we were watching ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ [on Prime Video] over the summer and she’s like, ‘Oh, my gosh, I can’t believe I have to wait a week and whatever,’ and I’m like, ‘I love television like this.’ I love that agony of having to wait, and you can’t wait for Wednesday night, or for a certain night. That’s how I grew up. I mean, I couldn’t wait for ‘Knots Landing.’ I couldn’t wait for ‘Hart to Hart,’ we’re going way, way back. I couldn’t wait for ‘Love Boat’, all that. So, yeah, I mean, I would love it to be like that, where you have to really be excited.” Lauralee Bell Chiming in, Damian was surprised to hear of some of Bell’s favorite shows growing up, pointing out how she never told him. “I mean, ‘Hart to Hart' was so, so long ago. Well, ‘Knots Landing’ was my all-time favorite,” responded Bell to Damian. “It’ll be one of those,” Bell continued, referring again to the type of soap opera she’s developing with Byrne. “Be careful what you wish for, because we’ve definitely been pursuing this for a while, but it seems like the timing is pretty good coming up.” In the meantime, Bell is excited about some of the changes taking place in daytime, particularly behind the scenes at “The Young and the Restless,” where the show’s decision to renovate the Newman ranch last year was a welcome one. Melody Thomas Scott, Eric Braeden “I was just so excited to see the Newman Ranch, to see Victor [Eric Braeden] and Nikki [Melody Thomas Scott] move back in and have that be their home again, and to see them dance in the living room or have a conversation about their kids and how they’ve grown,” says Bell. “To me, just that is so representative of ‘Y&R.’ It’s just this solid, strong, iconic Newman couple that has gone through their life together and seeing their kids and grandkids come in the door, and again, there’s very few shows that can say they can do that, and it’s just every time I see them on the couch having a scene together, it’s such a heart grabber for me.” Michael Damian: The Hit MakerIn September, Netflix released Damian’s latest film, “The Wrong Paris,” starring Miranda Cosgrove (“iCarly”) and Pierson Fodé (“The Bold and the Beautiful”), which debuted in second place on the Netflix Global Top 10 Movies chart, behind the juggernaut that is/was “KPop Demon Hunters.” Miranda Cosgrove, Pierson Fodé The film follows a young woman named Dawn (Cosgrove), who thinks she’s joining a dating show in Paris, France, only to land in Paris, Texas. Although she comes up with an exit plan, she ends up sparking the fiery-hot cowboy bachelor, Trey (Fodé). “The Wrong Paris” is the latest among several in which Damian has been a producer alongside his wife, Janeen Damian. The film ranked first on the global chart during the period of September 15-21, 2025, with 21.8 million viewers (38.9 million hours viewed), topping the animated cult phenomenon by 600,000 views (21.8 million vs. 21.2 million), and more than three million additional hours viewed (38.9 million vs. 35.4 million). The film was #1 in 53 countries that week, and went on to spend four weeks overall in the Netflix Global Top 10 Movies chart. During the period of September 22-28, 2025, the film ranked in the Global Top 10 in 65 countries. Watch the trailer for “The Wrong Paris” below. While Damian was unable to reveal what’s next for him from a producing perspective, he did share, “I’ve got a bunch of different projects in development, and I was thrilled that everything went well with ‘The Wrong Paris’ being the number one streaming movie in the world, which is pretty awesome. And I’ve also been pushing, working really hard on the new record, the new album and the new single that I sang on the show.” Michael Damian In October, Damian performed an acoustic version of his new single “Let Me Into Your Heart” on “The Young and the Restless,” which was part of a special storyline moment in which his alter ego shared the stage with cast members in a heartfelt musical sequence. He’s hoping the show will provide future opportunities to showcase Danny’s musical success. Michael Damian, Patty Weaver, Michael Graziadei “That would be great,” Damian states when asked if he’d like to perform more on the soap opera. “I think that’d be fun and that would be awesome.” As for what else he’s been up to musically,” Damian says, “I am working on a bunch of songs for a complete album, so as songs are finished, I’ll be sending them to the show and see if they work out. But I think it would be really cool to bring… I think that’s a really nice added element that worked really well for many, many years in the past. So, I think it would work organically now, especially with Daniel [Michael Graziadei] becoming a wonderful guitar player and getting into music and singing, which lends itself to coming together for some family music. It’d be fun.” Less than two weeks after its release, “Let Me Into Your Heart” jumped to #29 on the Mediabase Adult Contemporary Music Chart. The song, written and produced by the Grammy Award-winning hit makers Larry Weir and Tom Weir, is the first track to be released as part of Damian’s highly anticipated upcoming album. The single is now available on all major streaming platforms, and the album will be released in January 2026. Lauralee Bell: The DirectorWhile acting and producing are the focus right now for Bell, she wouldn’t say no to the idea of directing episodes of “The Young and the Restless,” or even “The Bold and the Beautiful,” both of which were created by her parents, the late William J. Bell and the late Lee Phillip Bell. At the same time, her brother, Brad Bell, has spent the better part of three decades spearheading “The Bold and the Beautiful” as executive producer and head writer. Lauralee Bell “I mean, I haven’t really thought about it, but I never say never,” Bell says when asked about potentially directing either soap or other shows, considering her prior experience in producing and directing “mI promise,” plus her well-received work with several behind-the-scenes featurettes highlighting key events and moments from “The Young and the Restless” in recent years. “I never say no, but right now I’m so happy that Heather Tom [Katie Logan, ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’] is directing/writing at ‘B&B,’ and now Lizzie, Elizabeth Hendrickson [Chloe Mitchell, ‘The Young and the Restless’], is directing here, which is incredible. So happy for her. So we’ll see. Right now, I’m just happy we’re back on a bit more and able to tell this story. Yeah, I would have to be asked first and probably do a lot of studying.” Soaps Bring ComfortWith soaps being some of the longest-running television programs still in production, it’s no wonder they’ve become something fans have relied upon to get through their day, which Bell says, “In this day, now more than ever, there’s such comfort in finding your show that just makes you feel safe and at home, and you can count on. And ‘Y&R’ should always be that for our fans.” Speaking of fans, for anyone who did not watch Danny and Cricket get married for the second time, the full episodes are now available to stream on Paramount+. Meanwhile, the couple’s first wedding, originally aired on November 16, 1990, will be rebroadcast on Thursday, November 27 (Thanksgiving Day) in place of an original episode. “If you’re a viewer and you remember watching the show with other family members, it’s also a very nostalgic moment for the viewer personally, because this is just a really heartfelt feel-good show,” comments Bell, talking about the first wedding. “So, if you’re going to watch one, this wedding should be it, because maybe you’ll think of that time you watched it with your grandma, or when you heard it in the background, or whatever. This is the episode to grab your personal heartstrings as well.” Watch a behind-the-scenes featurette from “The Young and the Restless” below that highlights how Cricket & Danny’s special celebration came together from a production standpoint.
