Jake and Frankie are hot on the trail of Allen’s mother

PINEHAVEN HOSPITAL

Jake, dressed in a shirt, slacks, and tie, walks up to the receptionist, an older woman with a lab coat on. Frankie hides unseen close by.

Jake: Hi.

Receptionist: Umm…hello?

Jake: Can you tell me where the Human Resources office is? I was supposed to have an interview today.

Receptionist (curious): For which position?

Jake: Security.

Receptionist: Oh. That’s on the fifth floor. The elevators are right down the hall.

Jake: Oh can you show me where the stairs are?

Receptionist: You’re gonna take the stairs?

Jake: I’m claustrophobic and…I can’t ride elevators.

Receptionist: The stairs are right next to the elevators.

Jake: I’m sorry…I have no sense of direction whatsoever. Can you walk me to the stairs?

Receptionist: I can’t leave this desk sir.

Jake: Come on it will only take five minutes.

Receptionist: Look I told you where they were. I can’t leave the desk.

Jake: Well then let me speak to your supervisor.

Receptionist: No…no…I’m already on a written warning, and one more complaint and I could be fired.

Jake: I won’t complain if you walk me to those stairs.

The receptionist gets up and walks out of the office with Jake, but leaves her computer up, and Frankie quickly runs in and brings up the account number on the bill that Allen had, but it does not tell her the name of the occupant. “Room 1030.” She says.

Allen is with Tyrone in the interrogation room alone.

Allen: How’s everything going bro?

Tyrone: We haven’t spoken in years. Now all of a sudden you need my expertise?

Allen: That’s on you. Your anger is misdirected. You’re angry at dad for having another child outside of his marriage to your mother.

Tyrone: You’ve been in Bay City all this time and you haven’t bothered to contact me til now. Why?

Allen: Because you’re gonna help me beat these charges.

Tyrone: And if I don’t?

Allen: Well then God help you.

Tyrone: What the hell are you talking about?

Allen: You’ve been seeing Donna haven’t you?

Tyrone: What are you suggesting? I would never cheat on Marley.

Allen: Well, bro, I’ve got evidence that would suggest the contrary.

Tyrone: You leave Marley out of this!!!

Allen: I will…if you represent me.

Tyrone: What are you up to?

Allen: Don’t worry about all dat. Just get me out of here…or you can worry about your marriage being destroyed.

JACK’S OFFICE

Jack and Toni Burrell review the evidence.

Jack: This is getting interesting.

Toni: The bullet casings are all the same, and now Sharlene Hudson is missing.

Jack: And all her psychotherapy notes are gone along with Dr. Taylor’s computer. Have you been able to look at the surveillance footage?

Toni: Yep.

Jack: What did you come up with?

Toni: Dr. Taylor didn’t have a whole bunch of patients. I wonder how he even stayed in business.

Jack: Someone is bankrolling his operation.

Toni: I can venture a guess….Grant Harrison.

JACK’S OFFICE

Toni: I had his bank records pulled, and I see several deposits to Dr. Taylor’s bank account.

Jack: You’re talking about the guy who’s gonna run for Mayor right?

Toni: Yep.

Jack: I just looked at the footage myself. I saw the guy that was just in here.

Toni: John Hudson?

Jack: Yes.

Toni: You’re considering John as a suspect?

Jack: I won’t know until after I question him.

Toni: Guess we’re gonna be a tag team huh?

Jack: Why you say that?

Toni: I’m going to go question Grant as to why he has deposited several dollars into Dr. Taylor’s bank account.

INTERROGATION ROOM

Allen awaits another visitor, and not one he really wants to see…Reginald.

Reginald: So you got pinched.

Allen: Bail hasn’t been set yet.

Reginald: Who said I was posting it? You were stupid enough to get yourself caught.

Allen: I was careful.

Reginald: Well not careful enough apparently.

Allen: After all I’ve done for you, you’re gonna just leave me here?

Reginald: Why should I help you, when I don’t have any guarantees, except that your mother will stay at where she is.

Allen: I’ve done everything you’ve asked! Now let her out! You and I both know she’s not sick, and she shouldn’t even be staying in that hospital.

Reginald: Well then you better keep quiet about my involvement, because if you don’t, your mother will NEVER get out of Pinehaven.

PINEHAVEN HOSPITAL

Frankie, disguised as part of the cleaning crew, and they head right for Room 1030. She encounters a big, burly orderly in front of the room.

Frankie: I need to clean.

Orderly: I’ve never seen you before.

Frankie: I started recently.

Orderly: How come we weren’t told? Only certain people are allowed near this room.

Frankie: I’m sorry if you weren’t informed in a timely manner, but they did tell me to clean this room.

Orderly: I’m gonna check. I’ll be right back, and don’t go in there.

When the orderly leaves, Frankie uses the master key she stole with the uniform, opens the door, and walks in.

Frankie: Nobody’s here.

She notices something on the bed. They’re newspaper clippings of Allen’s arrest.

Frankie: Whoever this person is, they must have gone to Bay City.

The orderly returns…

Orderly: I thought I told you not to come in here! You’re in big trouble.
