Ashford to star in URINETOWN

Matthew Ashford fans in the southern California area will have a chance to see him live onstage when he performs in, Urinetown the Musical. Presented by the Interact Theatre Company, Urinetown will be playing at the Matrix Theatre, 7657 Melrose Avenue, West Hollywood, CA. from September 16th to November 11th. Matthew Ashford will be playing the roll of Senator Fipp.

Urinetown is a Tony Award-winning musical set in a Gotham-like city struggling to deal with a ecological disaster. It’s a story of greed, government corruption, love and revolution as the people in the story must deal with a government ban on private toilets. The right to relieve oneself is no longer just a call of nature but it is regulated by a malevolent corporation that profits greedily from one of our most fundamental needs.

Fans can also catch Ashford in the reading of 1776, at the The Horseshoe Theatre, L. Valley College, 5800 Fulton Avenue, Van Nuys, CA 91401 on Wednesday, August 16th.

DaysFanJean, thanks for the news! :D

I'm pleased to read Matt won't be out of work after he finishes on DAYS. B)

Awesome! There was a show of this at MIT in Cambridge (my neck of the woods). I didn't see it, but it's intrigued me. I know Charles Shaughnessy (ex-Shane Donovan) has been in it in past runs. Good luck, Matt!

I saw this when it was on Broadway. It's BRILLIANT. Pure musical theater fun. I wonder which of the fabulous roles Matt will be playing.

And the awful title is actually made fun of directly in the opening scene, so no worries :-D

But how would "Days" fans know? I think it could attract the factions of J&J fans from Internet sites who are close-knit and read every news blurb about him. Even if it doesn't attract the larger "Days" audience it's still a nice move for him.
