If we need to bring in names, I'd vote for Patrick Mulcahey with Sheri Anderson as co-head writer, or an out-from-retirement Kay Alden. Otherwise, I'm voting for new blood who can bring new ideas to the table.

Griffith is AWFUL, and he's brought Y&R to its worst storytelling period in its existence. It is so bad that I have no words. NO ONE can be worse than this

That's pretty much how I feel about it. Worst I've ever seen. It was so bad that I didn't see how it was sustainable.

Y&R needs a massive overhaul - this is a show that actually needs good new characters and a proper focus on youth, and to stop the over reliance on Victor, Nikki, and Jack and their horrible stories. I don’t care that Eric Braeden is the face of the show to many, he’s pushing 90 and needs to start taking a backseat so the show can better prepare for a future without him.

He'd put her in as a back-from-the-dead Katherine Chancellor/Marge two for one.

Lol I wasn’t gonna go there but that would totally be his way of thinking. He did bring back Victor Lord, Irene Manning, and I think Frank Smith who all older characters who everyone saw die onscreen years before they were brought back to life…

And Katherine would be back with a f**king drink in her hand.

And SONY & the Bells need to stop taking so much $$ from it. Obviously, the show's budget is the same as (or more than) other daytime shows, but it APPEARS far cheaper, which can only mean that excessive distributions are made to the owners, at the expense of the show itself. That needs to stop. And if it means cutting out a few of the higher paid veteran performers, then do it. They can't continue operating the show on a $2.10 per episode budget with unimaginative writing.

Bill Bell's grandchildren are all grown AFAIK. I wonder if any of them inherited his talent.

I'd can Adam and Chelsea -they add nothing to the show.

Daniel can go. Bye Siena.

Most of the other vets are not going anywhere.

But bringing in Reed/Faith and a recast Allie would give the core families a new focus,

Given what a hack Brad Bell is and what a hack his daughter in law was, I question any involvement from that family.

I'd like to think Griffith was forced out and allowed to announce he was "leaving."

We just got interviews earlier this weeks about how "delicious" he found it to pair Howarth and Stafford, among other story topics. I find it hard to believe he gave those interviews knowing he'd be "leaving" in a couple days.

BREAKING NEWS: Ron Carlivati Named New Head Writer At Y&R!!

I was just thinking about him.

RC will have some of the Days cast here and GH Franco.

I'm thrilled, and I don't care who takes over at this point. We need to go a least a decade without another damn kidnapping. This has been absolutely absurd watching all these kidnappings.

Y&R actually has a decent chance in a long time - both Steve Kent and Griffith are gone, and CBS doesn’t have a domineering network exect ala Barbara Bloom or Anjelica McDaniel determined to put their stamp on the show right now.

But again, who is left to take this show and actually wants it?

So many of the garden variety of hacks are either long retired or dead - so the succession question is real. Who the hell is left to that can fit into the grind and budget constraint of daytime?

More than likely, they'll just "promote" Amanda L. Beall.
