I personally don't think that disliking White Savior Joey is an indication the character is working.

If it's a choice between King Joey and Duprees Strong, I choose neither.

  • There is nothing remotely scary or dangerous about the portrayal of Joey. Literally everything he says is dripping with sarcasm and zero menace. Also the writing of Joey as just the smartest person th

  • So Vanessa calls her dear friend over for advice and solace and then shuts her down the minute Dani raises perfectly valid points. Not expecting Joey to live in a place like that? It suits him perfec

Victor took a helicopter from Genoa City, WI to DC? That dont make no damn sense! Helicopters can go up to about 300 miles on the high end on a single take of fuel. The distance from WI to DC is about 700+ miles

I actually like this BTG version of Victor and all his interactions so far! EB seems like he’s really enjoying this change of scenery and getting to play Victor on another soap too….beats him sitting on the ranch just barking orders at people…

Speaking of which

Tomorrow’s U.S episode of Y&R has Nikki all frantic because she heard about the tornado in Maryland. Victor of course shows up at the last second saying he made his speech at the fundraiser and took off before the tornado but since Devon, Abby and Jack are still there (no mention of Diane and Kyle) he had his rescue team head to Maryland to help out.

Not surprisingly the shows aren’t really in sync because this would have all occurred before tomorrow’s BTG following Y&R. They should have saved this for Thursday’s US show imo.

He and his sister can leave. Neither character is menacing or scary in the least. Give me James Stenbeck.

And Joey's casino set is a hot mess.

I don't think we've ever seen the Newman helicopter on Y&R. We know about the Newman jet.

Victor has a jet and a helicopter but no staff. Maybe he flies them himself.

That green screen helicopter was not worth it.

Playing catch-up on last week and a few notes...

I am at the flashback episode. I know some people would have liked it from the beginning, but I disagree. I said before my trip that it does seem with the cotillion done that the show appears to be pivoting off to an Impaler reveal and at least building momentum back into the Hayley storyline. Since the show also seems to want an event a month (cotillion in May, the current Y&R crossover-hey, Victor, hey!!) and it still has a build with Hayley...could we get a story turn/reveal in July for Ms. Kristen Dimera???

Them showing the flashbacks now reinstates the stakes/dynamic within the Hayley storyline which has stalled. And some of the audience would need a reminder since it does seem the Dani/Andre story angle is coming back around. Not to mention the Bill/Dani/Andre triangle that is a gold mine sitting in front of the writers.

I'm finding the episode extremely good. And I very much love that they are writing Dani and Andre how they SHOULD be written. They felt like them and not the slanted writing for them that I've complained about. They communicate EVERYTHING even when they don't like it. And that has been on display and that's part of the reason I love them as a couple.

Since Victor's helicopter landed at the Country Club and the party was at the Country Club, why did Victor and Vernon get into the limousine? Where did they go?

The Impaler reveal was so bogus I’m about to seriously reconsider my viewership. The last thing this show needed was another white person running murky operations, making it Joey’s never before seen sister just put salt in an already growing wound.

I’ll be 100% honest and say that if Joey were played by a black or even Latino actor I wouldn’t be bothered by his control and story focus on canvas. Watching this tired white man wield so much power on what was sold as a black soap opera has become too blatant for me to ignore at this point, and to top it off he and Vanessa and their low budget Sonny and Carly adventures from the 00s aren’t even interesting outside of Deanna being on their asses.

I’ve been very disappointed by the trajectory of the show overall these last few months. I think the creatives in charge have mediocre taste and lack consistent quality control. Post Guza’s exit the storylines I did care about have become so stalled I’m barely invested anymore. Weeks of episodes go by and it feels like nothing truly significant is happening.

I wish they weren’t so insistent on portraying the Dupree’s as this happy black excellence family who only endlessly praise themselves and each other and would instead delve deeper into some of the inner conflict we saw brewing during the first season. It would make things so much more interesting. As it stands the show has become little more than background noise for me which is so disappointing.
