I have a really hard time seeing Joey Armstrong the way the show wants me to see him.

I am not even sure if JL is the right actor for the character MVJ is writing.

Ashley Jones was fine so far. In a world where Daphne Duplaix plays grandmother to grown ups, I might pretend to believe that Heather is Joey's sister.

I think for a character like Joey to work, you need to cast the right actor. JL has a self depreciating way of delivering the lines that he adds a bit of humor and cynicism to the character of Joey.

I did read an interview with Ashley where she stated that she had to audition for the role since this role was a departure for her. I think the fact that she has such an innocent face and demeanor is what will make Heather different. It's a shame she slipped on social media because having her be the Impaler would have been a surprise since she was known for playing an ingenure (Megan on Y & R) and heroine (Bridget in B & B) so you wouldn't think she would be the Impaler. And I think having Heather appear innocent and sweet will fool everyone while behind the scenes letting the mask slip. We did see a bit of edge in her line delivery with Joey.

As much as the role seems written for a Sarah Brown type, the fact is that Sarah Brown can't play innocent...and people would suspect her from the get go.

In regards to the age difference... my aunt was born when my mom was 15, my other aunt was 21, and my uncle was 23 so I could see them playing siblings. And my aunt being the baby could wrap people, especially men, around her little finger. So I don't question the age difference (back in the day people married and had kids at a young age circa 18/19 so a baby at 39/40 would be plausible).

My mom was born 18 years after my grandmother's oldest son so these age gap do happen in reality enough where soaps can use them without seeming too unrealistic. Usually with soaps it's used as device with half-siblings and there's no indication that Joey and Heather are half-siblings.

It works for me bc I have a perception of her being young but she looks older

She turns 50 this year but definitely looks like she could be mid to late 50s

Absolutely. There is a family friend who had a baby 20 years after their youngest. It does happen. Plus, age in soaps is a nonconstruct in my eyes, due to recasting, SORAS, et al.

Considering Samantha is playing the adopted niece of actresses younger than her, it isn't a stretch to have Joey and Heather siblings.

I'm intrigued to see how Ashley plays Heather. Why does she have to be paired with anyone that's onscreen right now? Another new character from Heather's background could be added at any time, but what if she flirts with Kial to annoy Nicole? I'd be here for that.

Can't wait for the rest of this week! I hope it is as good as the promos look.

Age gap siblings happen but thats not the impression that this is what Heather and Joey were meant to be. When he talked to Vanessa, the implication is that they grew up together. They had a shared childhood experience which doesnt make sense if they were actually closer to 20 years apart. My youngest sister is 17 years younger than me. I was leaving for college a few months after she was born and we werent really raised together bc I was becoming an adult while she was growing up. Thats not the dynamic that Joey described to Vanessa. This is just a case of the actors ages not matching the characters as Joey and Heather are meant to be closer in age

randomly curious if we will see both Kial and Kyle (BTG Dr. Kial Rollins and Y&R Kyle Abbott) during the crossover, or if characters ask "where is Kial?" or "where is Kyle" or awkwardly specify full names or say Dr. Kial?

Naomi looks amazing today. I love the hair change.

I thought "Undercover Jacob" was bad. I'm not feeling "Angry Jacob" either. I understand why he would be upset, but it's a bit much.

So Joey is going to the fundraiser? I hope Heather shows up too.

original release date: Tuesday, June 9, 2026 | writers: Michael Montgomery, Jazmen Darnell Brown | director: Michael V. Pomarico

Thoughts:

  • Tyrell flat-out pulling an Andy Sachs with "they look the same" was hilarious. But it was very sweet of him to tie Martin's tie.

  • I love that despite being dressed up and ready to go for the fundraiser, Dani still wants to eat some potato chips. An absolute mood.

  • Vanessa wanting to explore her kinks before the event. I love that for her.

  • So now Mona is doing some fundraising for the church? At Orphey Gene's. And not Dana showing up like she's Lamadonna.

  • Jacob is coming undone. Absolutely undone. He needs to lighten up a bit. Driving himself into work, fueling his anger, is not going to help him one iota. And Ren is the last one he should be going to, especially if his leads continue to lead nowhere.

  • Poor Martin is all wound up. Hopefully his nerves will ease, and he will be fine once the event is fully underway!

  • I love how much Anita and Vernon are there for their family and, in this case, Martin.

  • Mona, instead of being snobbish, perhaps be grateful that your one-time friend showed up to support your Holy cause.

  • Not Dana eavesdropping on Samantha's and Tyrell's conversation. And not Samantha grilling about Tyrell's first time and his relationship with Jessica.

  • Naomi's shock at it being Dani's idea to go check in on Ashley was mine, too. And it shows some growth in Dani.

  • So, Jacob is just going to skip the fundraiser? Damn. I feel like that is going to be another mistake in his rolodex of mistakes.

  • I really love seeing how supportive Bradley is of Martin in his bit of doubt. So happy to see that they overcame the hurdles they faced last year.

  • Okay, Victor Newman is arriving in the Newman Enterprises helicopter! Very Victor of him. I love it.

  • Oh my! A colonnade room mention! I miss the colonnade room, but the country club ballroom is the next best thing!

  • Dani's idea of inviting Ashley to the fundraiser with Naomi is such a good idea. And I hope it does uplift her spirits.

  • I get the sense that Joey did have a lot of love and admiration for his sister. I hope it is genuine. Not Jacob showing up after talking to Ren. This is not going to be good.

  • Davit Azarian? An interesting cover name, but not going to lie, kind of wish Davit did exist. Not Jacob making an offer to Joey. Lord. The hold he has over Fairmont Crest is insane.

  • I do hope that Nikki makes the visit to Fairmont Crest next time! I would love to see her and Anita discuss music with each other and compare notes.

  • Dana, how did you get so many damn zeros on that cheque? There is no way you have that much money.

  • Mona's look of disgust at her God giving Dana the go-ahead with construction on her 'shouse' to continue.

  • Good girl, Vanessa, catching on about Heather and the Impaler all in one. She is catching on. But Joey cloaking Heather's desire to go into business for a male-perceived Impaler.

  • Victor giving Martin the seal of approval by telling him to call him Victor is a big step. Major. And the glaze over of meeting Bradley, too. 😍

  • Not the bad omen. Things are about to get interesting and yes Vernon, it will be one for the history books!

Notes:

  • Montgomery and Brown were the best choices to kick off this four-day event. A breakdown writer who was, at some point, the continuity producer and paired with their strongest scriptwriter. A match made in Heaven.

  • Jeresa Featherstone and her team did an outstanding job with the fashions in today's episode. Just like with the cotillion, these kinds of group events are where they really shine.

  • Shout-out to the makeup team for the scar on Tamara Tunie's (Anita) chest. Very realistic, and good on Anita for showing it off.

  • I appreciate the effort made for Eric Braeden's arrival as Victor. A helicopter on the lawn of the country club's entrance, with lightning in the sky. Very impressive.

-- I understand using Victor Newman for this crossover, but he's SUCH a compromised hero. If we were in a period where Victor's behaving, this wouldn't bother me as much. But the man is a CRIMINAL who just moved his family's wannabe murderer on to his property. The crimes within his own company are endless. THIS is who Martin brings in to seal the primary?

-- And I don't know why the voters in Martin's district would care about Victor Newman.

-- Had to laugh when Smitty got a text from a journalist friend who already said she's write favorably about Martin. That's real journalistic integrity right there.

-- Smitty's latest work on the Red Market is to ask the public for help 😂

-- I wish Jacob had another layer that wasn't anger 24/7. I also wish those scenes with Ren were onscreen. I don't think the offscreen stuff works.

-- Why is Jacob going to Joey for a talk about the Impaler??? UGH. Why is Joey the answer to everyone's problem on this show?

-- Lauren Buglioli looks a good bit thinner. She wasn't overweight and this weight loss makes her look older.

-- Mona has the right to still be annoyed with Leslie, but shouldn't she have been A LOT more ecstatic about a $100k check???

-- Leslie's endless checkbook will never not be hilarious 🤣

-- Wardrobe again was top-notch, elevated and classy.

-- I miss June.

-- Instead, we got multiple scenes with Shonda. I'm not sure Shonda makes it out of this tornado 😂

I chuckled when Leslie told Mona she knew she had the "sugar".

I haven't heard that term in a long time.

That check was huge. She must have received a lot more money from that fund than stated.

You would think she would have run through it all by now.

That was a nice gesture from Leslie, but she still needs to pay for what she did to Laura.

I wonder if SPS took some advice from Eva and invested some of the money investments and stocks. That's the only thing I can accept for why she has gobs of money that she's giving away like there's no care in the world.
