Could all these kidnapping plots be due to the low budget? A way to generate some kind of fan reaction without having to involve any other sets or characters to tell a cohesive story? All you need is a room that a character can be locked in for a couple weeks. Theres really not much else required right?

Budget is a definite factor and desperately needs to be addressed. Day after day of characters roaming around the same restaurants is depressing.

I absolutely hate the way this Matt Clark story is developing into as of late. Are they really gonna try to redeem Matt Clark? That’s insulting.. Now he’s living on the ranch? Just a few feet from Sha

In my strong opinion, the Jazz Lounge needs to be kept because it's the NEIL WINTERS Jazz Lounge with his picture on the wall. If they want to move it to another building (out of the GCAC) that's fin

I think I'll watch on the days when Patty isn't on.
It's to crinch worthy. And enough viewers
complain maybe they will end it sooner than later.

Is it just me or do the characters spend a lot of time at restaurants?

Not just you. LOL we've been commenting on that for a couple of years or more. There are few home sets and few office sets. So most conversations and meetings are at restaurants.

Edit to add: I could be wrong, but I thought I read that some shows have to pay crew extra to assemble and disassemble sets overnight, so that minimizes the amount of sets used? Not sure.

Yes previous common practice was to have a crew dismantle sets on a day to day basis. To keep budget down certain sets were permanent and writers had to use a certain number on consecutive days but there were day to day changes.

It seems Y&R stopped all that to save money and all the restaurant sets are permanent, as well as Newman Ranch and maybe Abbott house. Other sets like Billy's house, Cane train etc will be put up but then are used at least for that week.

Saves money but badly affects the show.

Did MTS forget how to play someone with an illness? Because what she's doing is LAUGHABLE. It's awful.

-- Michelle Stafford was more amped than usual today. I guess she's pretending they're giving her something to play.

-- The redemption of Matt Clark is as bad as we all thought it would be.

-- Do Adam and Chelsea eat out every night? I guess poor Connor has to eat dinner alone 7 nights a week.

-- Sitting Kyle in the GCAC dining room for the entire show (while Harrison was in the room) was hilarious and pathetic.

-- Cane spent the entire show at Crimson Lights, and so did Phyllis.

-- I think they have a teleprompter propped on the floor for Eric Braeden so he can see his lines. I think his lines are also fed to him on his ever-ubiquitous phone.

-- This show cannot get any worse.

Budget mode. Half the cast looks checked out. Yeah, what is this mess?
