It depends. When they remastered the proctor and gamble soap episodes for the DVD box sets during that short lived program, there were episodes that had the music playing over the dialogue, not in separate tracks. IIRC it came up on the set with Mindy/Rick/Philip/Beth and at the time the commentary was do they simply just drop the entire audio out for those scenes, cut the scenes, or pony up the money. They may also have to ask for the rights again. Pink Floyd kept WKRP from using their music again after the original air dates. It was in the original episodes but was a major source of headaches during later syndication, and the two DVD releases. It’s famously missing in their most iconic episode, the thanksgiving episode.

I'm late to the party, but I stumbled across the 1998 episodes last night on YT and was amazed! The quality is great and it brought back so many good memories (Carrie! Sami! Eric!). Was that Eric and Nicole's first time meeting?

Reading through the comments here, it'll be really hard for me to get into it if there are missing episodes... ugh, I wish they'd fix that, because I would so start watching this. The quality is amazing. Seeing a young Marlena, John, Abe, Roman, Stefano... so fun. Susan Banks - LOL!

Who is the "older" lady having visions of a young lady by the pool? She seems like an important character, but I don't remember her for some reason.

If they keep uploading them in order at least you can pretend it's just like watching in the old days when you'd miss an episode here and there. I wish someone could confirm if the missing episodes contain music and that's why they're not there.

That was Ari Zucker's debut, episode 8240, airdate Friday February 27, 1998. (Nicole tells him here she started waitressing there "about a month ago" but Feb.27 was the character's and actress' first airdate.)

I noticed that each youtube video has the episode number within its description. Then knowing the episode number, you can use @JAS0N47 info to learn the original airdate.

Hmm no, this is an older white lady. When I was skimming through the episodes, she was alone in a house and had a vision of a younger woman by a pool and seemed to freak out. I'll have to go back into YT later and find the episode. I loved Celeste though
