Need To Know

  • “Beyond the Gates” marked season highs among Women 18-49 and Women 25-54.
  • “The Bold and the Beautiful” ranked No. 1 among soaps in Women 18-49 for the 15th time in 23 weeks (including ties).
  • “NBC News Daily” returned after a two-week hiatus and set a new season high among Women 25-54.

“The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful” fell a bit from last week’s season highs among Total Viewers and the key demos, though the half-hour soap continued to rank No. 1 among soaps during the week of February 23-27, 2026, while the long-running hourlong drama averaged more than three million viewers for the fifth consecutive week.

For the week, “Beyond the Gates” celebrated its first anniversary by setting new season highs among Women 18-49 (0.19 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.30 rating), marking its best performance in the former since the week of August 18-22, 2025, and its best in the latter since the week of September 15-19, 2025. The soap opera topped time slot competitor “General Hospital” in both demographics, while also attracting its third-largest audience ever among Total Viewers (1.781 million), though down a mere 29,000 from the same week last year, when it formally took over the 2:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. PT time period on CBS. The series was up +0.01 week-to-week among both Women 18-49 (0.19 rating vs. 0.18 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.30 rating vs. 0.29 rating), and outperformed former time-slot occupant “The Talk” during the same week in 2024, 2023, and 2022 in both demographics.

While “The Bold and the Beautiful” was down 135,000 viewers week-to-week, the series was up +286,000 viewers compared to the same week last year, with 2.925 million tuning in and again ranked No. 1 among soaps in Women 18-49 (0.27 rating). This is the 15th time in 23 weeks that the half-hour soap has ranked No. 1 among Women 18-49 (including ties) this season.

With 3.358 million viewers watching the happenings in Genoa City, “The Young and the Restless” saw a week-to-week decline of 115,000 viewers but continued to outperform its season average (3.012 million), and averaged more than three million viewers overall for the fifth consecutive week.

“General Hospital” saw the smallest week-to-week drop among Total Viewers, down 25,000, but continued to average more than two million viewers for the eighth time in nine weeks, with 2.178 million tuning in. Flat week-to-week among Women 18-49 (0.18 rating), the long-running drama series was virtually on-par with its year-ago performance (0.18 rating vs. 0.19 rating). Meanwhile, the soap was up +0.03 week-to-week among Women 25-54 (0.24 rating vs. 0.21 rating).

“NBC News Daily” returned after a two-week hiatus, following NBC’s coverage of the 2026 Winter Olympics (Milano Cortina), with a season high among Women 25-54 (0.26 rating). The news program was up +348,000 viewers year-over-year, while topping rival “GMA3” across the board, including Women 18-49 (0.14 rating vs. 0.13 rating), Women 25-54 (0.26 rating vs. 0.18 rating), Households (1.0 rating vs. 0.9 rating) and Total Viewers (1.535 million vs. 1.452 million).

“TODAY 3rd Hour” saw the largest year-over-year gain among Total Viewers, up +418,000 (2.232 million vs. 1.814 million).

Wrap-Up

Yay!!! 🎉🎉🎉 CBS has to be thrilled with BTG and their entire line-up.

The key is outperforming "The Talk," which CBS canceled due to poor demos and viewership, bad retention following its lead-in and low interest in streaming. As long as Beyond the Gates doesn't crash and burn in linear, and has good numbers on streaming, it'll survive, though it's now competing against itself when looking at year-over-year comparisons.

Exactly. Then again, just about anything would have outperformed "The Talk," lol.

Good to hear.

BTG still has major issues (as with any new soap), but good bones and I want to see it thrive. It's really engaged (in part) an all-new audience, which many said wasn't possible for soaps 10-15 years ago.

If nothing else, BET's decision to run BTG marathons should help expand their audience even further.

I'd love for this to be the first season in many that Y&R and B&B has an increase in average viewership over the previous season. It would look favorably toward BTG and show that soaps can pull in an audience again.

GH is doing well also. Please soap Gods, let the networks reconsider having a full slate of soaps again.
