You could have ignored my jeans comment in the first place. Plenty of people ignore my comments all the time. Instead you had to comment, and then you had to back up someone else who called me out. The least you could do is admit your intentions.

In the end, this is all really small stuff and not even worth this post I'm writing. I will say that I have enjoyed your posts, especially in the past few months when we had some semblance of respect for each others opinions. We do have a history of banging heads, and I was glad to move away from that.

That probably explains, at least in part, why I was unhappy with your posts on the photo.

I'm getting caught up on this week's episodes, and one thing that really struck me about Tuesday's episode was how Kai/Trina and Gio/Emma both got couple scenes with somewhat similar dialogue. But Braedyn Bruner and Giovanni Mazza have much stronger chemistry and were able to elevate their scene into something special where we could really believe this was a young couple in love. Whereas Tabyana Ali and Jens Austin Astrup just couldn't project that same sense of intimacy, so the dialogue rang hollow and Kai still seems like a placeholder. Honestly, I'm expecting him to get killed off any day now as part of the Drew/Willow storyline.

That's much more on Kai and the writing to me. They don't care about that story, the writing is poor and so is the actor in the role. And everything TA has been given since NAC exited has been either pretty meager or pretty bad, because they don't care about her either. Trina could still be leading, but they don't want her to and they've made that abundantly clear.

Kai can't go soon enough for me.

Yeah, there's no need for that.

I don't see much upside in recasting Spencer now. It seems like it's destined to fail. It's not long enough since NAC has left so there will be backlash, the show will not write well for Sprina, and it will inevitably ruin the good memories we have of the couple and Spencer. I would wait for awhile.

That's not say that Trina doesn't deserve a story of her own. That should be the priority. Do we know when TA's contract is up?

I think it should have already been up by now; she debuted in March 2022, and we can assume it's a three-year contract cycle, so her first would have likely been done in early 2025. If she signed another three-year deal, she's signed in until 2028.

Here’s the thing though. The show proved it could and successfully recasted Michael and Lulu with literally perfect people for the roles. Maybe I’m giving them too much credit but I don’t see anyone clamoring for the previous actors in either role. And adult Emma and Gio are also great finds. I might just be too optimistic but outside of this Collum actor and nuNonAustalian Brennan I’ve really enjoyed their casting decisions in the last few years. Hell I don’t even mind campy ass Sidwell.

That's not really the issue, at least not IMO. Spencer's return would dominate a lot of story and character focus, both Trina and Emma would be inevitably impacted. And I just don't see a need to upset the current youth canvas in that way with the exception of removing Kai and adding some other characters, including a new Black male for Trina who could actually lead and be a viable rival for Spencer in future. They have to think in terms of how they thought of Jax vs. Sonny BITD if they want to move forward there. Of course that's if Frank's GH prioritized Black leads at all, which they do not.

I would absolutely bring Spencer back someday, but I would wait. He's just too big a character and I would prefer to keep the focus on Gio/Emma and Trina and a new man for awhile as well as some other potential new people, returnees or recasts, possibly Cameron. Jake would be around but that'd be a different sphere as he's a bit younger. And then you have the actual teens (Danny, Rocco, Georgie, and another girl or boy).

The only Cassadines this regime have been focused on are Valentin and Charlotte. That's the extent of it (and Alexis if we want to count her).

I don’t know what changed exactly but I agree. In the middle part of Valentini’s run we had one guy after another that was attractive and mostly bland. Same with the women (look at years of complaints about Sasha and Willow). And of course Roger Howarth and Michael Easton both having two different roles each.

I think being forced to cut those guys was part of a casting renaissance, at least for the men. Teschner has been pretty great finding “teen” actors, only Oscar was a real dud for me out of Cam, Spencer, two Trina’s, Esme, Emma, Gio, Rocco, Danny, and the new Charlotte.

I am basically only echoing the other replies, but I am not against a Spencer recast. I do believe the show could find a good one. NAC was a hard act to follow but certainly not un-recastable by any means. I would wait for a few years probably.

I can't believe this was actually a scene. Writers, what are we doing? Michael/Jacinda/Kristina could be a juicy story, but not the Q's having a freak out over Michael's sex life. Olivia was the worst. I don't get why she's still on the canvas. Emily and Georgie get killed off, but she's still around all these years later with no purpose. Olivia can take Britt with her and GO.

As for a Spencer recast, I don't think it will happen until Trina is off the canvas. The writers clearly don't care about developing her character and Kai was only introduced to check a box. The end goal for Spencer is to pair him with one-note Joss, IMO.

Also agree that the show is only focused on Charlotte and her fixation on Valentine. Baby Helena's love for her dad comes off weird while she continues to treat Lulu like crap. The show will never invest in the Cassadines the way they did when Stefan and Nikolas arrived in town in 96. Those were two glorious years of writing and acting before it went downhill.
