I loved Chris Engen, he had the vintage Y&R look (just like the first Heather).

I liked Chris too. Whatever his reasons for going were I thought he embodied what Adam should have been.

They've had four liked or well-liked actors in the role of Adam, which is more than you can say for many Y&R recasts. The writing has well and truly been the failing of this character, that and the show's worship of certain Newmans.

The Guiding Light thread moves faster 🤣

You ain't kiddin'! Between all the talk about Douglas Marland vs. the Dobsons and all the re-watches of episodes from the Rauch/Esensten & Brown era, you'd think GL was still on the air, lol!

Part is probably because we can discuss decades and decades (sometimes even the radio days), which we can't with Y&R in this thread, but there's also just something so ossified, so numbing about Y&R's last few decades. The exact opposite of anything Bill Bell wanted his show to be.

I had some classic GL thread pages bookmarked to read maybe 3 weeks ago and man that thing moves like wildfire. I wouldn't know where to begin. I think it's hilarious that the GL thread is outrunning this one.

I don't think Jason Thompson really wants to leave per se, but his comments recently re: wanting to play opposite Braedyn Bruner on GH (who plays his former character's daughter) does make me wonder if he's a bit wistful. I wouldn't hate JT's Patrick appearing for a short stint as a Steve Hardy-esque figure to mentor some new doctors. He's still a very handsome man but he's aged quickly in the last decade and he was always an odd fit for Billy at best. I think JFP (and subsequent producers) were much more enamored of him and his talent vs. his ever being right for the role.

No one will ever be Billy Miller (even poor David Tom who got a raw deal a little over a decade ago), so if this show ever gets its shít together again they might as well recast yet again. Fans won't blink at this point.

It does seem like we are getting more sets, so that’s one good thing I guess. We are actually seeing the characters in their homes again instead of just sitting and chatting at Crimson Lights or the GCAC. Hopefully it keeps up..

We know things are bad when an open door gets praise.

We started off at the CCAC where the director decided to do a sweeping shot to emphasize that one of GC's premier meeting spots is EMPTY. Nice choice.

Oh and Jill is not well. Why not just kill her off so she can join her grandson in the afterlife.? God forbid one of the most dynamic characters be allowed to thrive.

Like a scene from an Irwin Allen disaster flick Phyllis swoops into Victor's office -fire/flood/ swarm of killer bees-ranting that Victor needs to vacate because SHE is now queen of Genoa City. Oh yes Cane was there also with Billy Flynn doing his best Marcel Marceau.

So somehow NE is now under their control. Just like that. Mmm I might take over a company myself. I'll go to a local cafe and formulate my plan, it seems easy enough.

And they can just barge into Victor's office-no security in the lobby, tags to access the elevator etc .

Phyllis called out Victor and his family for all their crimes and misdemeanors, which would have been sweet music to my ears had it not been coming from an equally repulsive character.

And Victor was propped at his desk, managing to finally splutter some threat and order them out.

Meanwhile Mariah is able to creep around the Chancellor Estate-again, no gates/security system.

Gotta love this show. Never misses an opportunity to make the wrong choices.

You beat me to saying this exact thing.

Your entire post is on point. What a mess from top to bottom.

-- Phyllis and Billy have control of Newman, so their first order of business is to visit Victor? Not that it matters -- we won't see any business done regardless. Phyllis wants to celebrate her victory, which means doing nothing.

-- Billy and Sally are in turmoil, so they decide to head to the GCAC? OK. I guess Billy's home set had to be put in storage so we could see the Chancellor mansion hallway.

-- Mark Grossman has been given nothing to do as Adam for about 5 years.

-- Dominic was recast and they chose this kid??? Why does this show struggle so much with child actors? Yesterday, watching Harrison play that game with Kyle and Claire was painful. I hate to bash kids, but NuDominic is really bad.

-- The Mariah storyline is a DEBACLE.
