Contrary to popular belief, responding to every single thread and post will not cancel the show for you sooner and free up more airtime for barely legal twinks.

You know the show is bad when the discussion is about when is the right time to put up your Christmas tree.

That was what I was thinking. I don't watch the show, but I always follow the threads. When I read the tree posts, I was like.. ok the show is not very good right now.

I believe the show has gotten better over the past few months. There is still work to be done on the clunky dialogue and the caricature villains, but it's better. I also feel that the tree discussion was provoked by what we saw on screen and the upcoming Christmas, which put us in a cheerful Christmassy mood. At least that's why I personally participated in that discussion. The last 2-3 episodes have been good, and I suggest you check it out when you have the time. I've always appreciated your commentary and it's nice seeing you online.

Thank you so much! The truth is that I am intrigued by Hayley's story (who would have thought). I really don't want to watch Anita's story though. I am watching clips from time to time. What I don't understand is how Vanessa and the white nurse girl fit into the show as main characters.
I don't like that the show is a lot like B&B and the 90s primetime soaps in some ways.
Too many big stories within a year.
I hate the opening.
I like the fresh vibe and the new faces, some characters feel that they have been around forever and that's a good thing.
But as I have said before, I wanted this show to be more soapy and old-school in some ways. It is mostly a directing thing.

Ok, Nicki Minaj Jr., we get that you hate the show because it's not the blonde haired, blue eyes, WeHO gay boy show. With that said, if you have enough energy to crap on the show then that is still more engagement than some of the other soaps are getting.

I actually share many of these criticisms and thoughts. I too believe the Hayley storyline has great potential, especially if they stop portraying her as a careless and messy fool. Marquita is truly a diamond in the rough.

I also find it hard to watch the Anita storyline right now, but I'm trying to get through it. Vanessa is a lazy stereotype of a one dimensional unrootable whore. That's just my opinion. However, I suppose there is an audience for this, and I don't judge these people. To judge what others like when it clearly brings them joy is so absurd, especially on an internet board. However I think the whole mafia aspect of BTG is a failure. Others again may disagree.

Regarding the so called nurse - I think almost everyone on the board would agree with you that she doesn't fit in. Personally, I think the issue lies more in the writing than with the actress herself, but at this point... I just want to fast forward her scenes, which is not a good sign.

The best part of the show is Vernon and Anita! They are great!

The worst part is the mob crap. I don't understand why they chose to make it so dark. Joey could have been this small time operator injecting a little humor. Instead he's this big man who's ordered two murders with no consequences or comeuppance.

Vernon and Anita work because they seem like a moral center. The mob stuff doesn't because it's too lazy and amoral. It's just a dark hole that goes no where.

What a treat the last two episodes have been. Reminds me of AMC/P&G soaps with the family oriented episodes.

Bill giving us some more hints about his turbulent relationship with his father, I think we’re in for a very tragic backstory for him and I’m all for it.

Might I add, Joey and Hayley have this funny rapport, the way that Hayley seemed annoyed at Joeys presence and Joey seemingly acting as if he has Hayley’s number and can appeal to her need for approval at Farimont Crest. 😆 Only time I found Joey entertaining

Vanessa was better written before the newest co headwriter took over, but in regards to Ashley.. I think the show is trying to reset her character. As @Maxim stated, the actress is doing as much as she can with an under-written part.. and the show keeps introducing potential story threads for her at work only to drop it. Hopefully season 2 will bring a more focused arc for her character away from Derek and Andre.

Vernon/Anita do have that moral center vibe to them for sure... but I'll see her as Jessica Griffin with a much more vibrant wardrobe :)
