date: Monday, December 15, 2025 | Teresa Zimmerman, Cheryl L. Davis | Anthony Pascarelli

Thoughts:

  • As present as Anita is with Nicole, I can tell that whatever information she received from Dr Ahn is likely on her mind.

  • JFC Dani, you are jumping for joy like someone just told you you won one million dollars. But it is very nice seeing her so positive in comparison to how she was at the top of the year.

  • Oh, Lynette and the con artist child bride absolutely know each other; that mutual hand nodding of acknowledgement. I see you both.

  • Lesion on her breast? So potential breast cancer. C'mon Anita, do not put this off... go immediately and book that appointment. Do not play around with your health.

  • Joey is becoming unhinged right now; his plan is truly coming undone. I sense it greatly.

  • I love how much Andre is being integrated into the Dupree family, but Vernon is right about Andre still having his own condo. No bueno.

  • Randy is right in this moment: she has caught feelings for this mark. And oop... Lynette ran the schemes with the con artist child bride? How interesting.

  • Joey is going to use Bill in the ways that Martin will not allow himself to be used. This could play out in such an interesting way.

  • I appreciate Nicole's compassion towards Eva and her having Dana as a mother. It goes to show she can separate things.

  • Aw, Anita, things are going to be fine. I get that life flashes before one's eyes, but wow... that was an emotional little segment of clips/memories.

  • Sorry... Val? 🤣

Notes:

  • Outstanding collaboration between Zimmerman and Davis today. Zimmerman is quickly becoming one of my favourite breakdown writers.

  • We have got some archival footage of Clifton Davis (Vernon) and Tamara Tunie (Anita). Damn. The creatives behind the scenes at Assembly are doing some outstanding work.

  • Anita hiding what's going on from her family is absolutely real; having been in a similar situation, it mirrors real life.

  • Kudos to Beyond the Gates for showing Anita's procedure and discussing what was to happen... this is the kind of topical storytelling that American soaps have been missing for such a long time. And the direction, by Pascarelli, was exceptionally well done.

Chile not Roberta Hayley Val Lawson Hamilton.

BIIIIIIIIITCH IM SEATED.

I thought the scenes with Anita were fantastic and filmed well. I love that fact that Vernon is keeping a frivolous secret all the while Anita will be keeping a far more serious one.

Please tell me they're not gonna give Anita, Breast Cancer ☹️

Why not? Tamara Tunie would play the hell out of that story AND maybe land BTG their first major Emmy nomination in the process.

I agree it'll just be sad to watch

Hayley/Roberta/Val got really agitated when Bill mentioned Joey asking him to run for Congress. Guess that would be a little too much publicity for a scammer to be adjacent to.

I guess the lack of a coffee house set was why Anita/Nicole were meeting for coffee at Uptown... which wouldn't be a place I would think would be a place to meet just for coffee.

Bill possibly running for office would throw a wrench into Hayley's praying mantis moves, but we all know how subtle she is when scheming (sarcasm as I type this LOL)

Dani/Andre seem happy right now so I wonder when the other shoe will drop.

I think having Anita possibly having cancer can be a good story if it's done realistically and also be a motivator for women to get their exams and advocate for their health. I remember reading about how Bert Bauer on GL back in the 60s and her health issue back in the day inspired women to focus on their health and perhaps this story with Anita will do the same thing.

-- I hope Bill turns down Joey's suggestion that he run against Martin for Congress. Bill has a huge ego, but I just don't think he'd go against the entire family he's still tied to.

-- Hayley meeting at Uptown with Randy and then with Lynette makes no sense. I know this show has a sets problem, but come on. This is ridiculous.

Anita's scenes today were really good, and TT will no doubt be amazing in this story. I don't love that they dropped that cliffhanger and didn't show her first reaction to the possibility of breast cancer was off camera. I hope the focus is on her from here on out.

I'm torn because I would love to see Bill involved in politics and I want to see more of his dynamic with Martin, but on the other hand they clearly aren't going to be able to address what's actually happening. Martin's speechifying is some of the most painful dialogue this show gives us: partly because his political strategy usually sounds 10-35 years behind the times, and partly because it something my elected officials might say (except I don't think in private they act like they just realized last month there's a midterm election next year). And today didn't show signs of that changing. I find it hard to believe anything like the legislation discussed is going anywhere right now, or that Martin would be the deciding vote. Actually, I thought that Martin's congressional seat is supposed to be the Eleanor Holmes Norton DC (non-voting) district, or was that just something mentioned in reporting on the show before it went to air, like how Siobhan Ryan was off studying to be a nun when Ryan's Hope premiered? In any case, I do feel like it's been established on-screen that

Joey should be buying a candidate in a swing district who has a sports betting problem. And Bill actually has a good reason to primary Martin (is that still what we're talking about?), of his own volition - if he claims the lane of the non-insider challenging the Dupree heir, as opposed to an actual outsider who wants to overturn tables, it would be mutually assured destruction as far as the Kenneth secret, which neither of them want to come out. And then Bill could end up winning while trying not to. Just my two cents.

I'd be into a good political storyline with Bill and Martin (which could tie in the Kenneth secret). I just think it needs to go beyond the vague platitudes Martin currently totes around. As Vernon has told him, he's not battle-tested.

Martin was wearing a DC Flag pin last week. But the writers are likely being deliberately ambiguous about the district to not reference real politics. "Scandal" would have the political landscape extremely different than real life.

Shock of shocks! I actually got behind on BTG! But that's my December schedule for ya!

That said...just some thoughts as I play a game of rewatch and catch up.

WINTERFEST

I said it then and I'll say it again after a rewatch...I liked it. I know I'm minority. The clothes. The (especially) music. The extras mingling around with the cast. It was nice. HOWEVER, it could have been so much better if some plot climax had gone done. The closest we got to that...and that was not even a climax was Dani and Ashley coming to a coda over her even thinking she was woman enough to take Dani's man. lol. jk. But you know what I mean.

It was good for the potential that it has. Bill/Dani/Andre which should be THE story right now. Marcel/SPS scream scheme team. The unraveling of Vanessa, too, though, I admit that I really don't like seeing this turn in Vanessa. I also didn't like all the telling of things rather than showing of them. And speaking of potential...

KIER.

GV's entrance has been all that and a bag of chips for me. And his one-on-one scene with Nicole....mmmmm. He can put his hands on me, too. Just WOOF!!! I'm already sold on his character, his chemistry with Nicole (and Nicole getting a focus/story), and one-upping Ted. Speaking of...

TED/SHANICE.

Okay, I see some of a spark. And I'm happy to see more of Shanice. But I wanted Ted/June.

MARCEL/SPS.

Chemistry, chemistry everywhere they go. I do wonder where it's going.

BILL/DANI/ANDRE. Honestly, I'm getting annoyed at it. When you have a great A story, they could really run with it. Instead it feels like part of being a series of scenes rather than being THE scenes. The story has been on hold just a liiiiiitle too long for me. Speaking of...

...THAT DARN KRISTEN DIMERA...I MEAN HAYLEY. I'm not sure if it is being played for comedy though it has had its comedic moments because Hayley slapping Bill was hilarious. But now...could Bill be getting clue in? Uh oh now.

Giving this much love. I agree ALMOST everything. 😊😊😊
