Your poor mom. I guess I should’ve realized if someone’s watched GH long enough they’ve probably accepted Sonny and Jason as the good guys because the show repeatedly tells us that and anyone that says otherwise is somehow in the wrong.

I will say Daniel Goddard is much more suited to this unlikeable prick role of Professor Dalton instead of the trying to force Cane as a romantic hero on Y&R despite totally being an assh.ole conman.

On that same note, it's astounding to have mobster Sonny in the same office with Mayor Laura chatting it up about their mutual grandson.

Think about the reaction if John Gotti and Mayor Eric Adams had a friendship😭??

I guess the Logic behind Sonny & Jason acceptance is like when i saw a documentary where FBI agents said they'd rather deal with the mafia than terrorists or cartels---they're the "lesser of 3 evils".

Anyway I'm about 30 years late on this convo.

I honestly don't care if Laura is friends with Sonny.  She's been friends with him for decades.  The way she goes about the friendship is stupid.   She has no sense of self-preservation or awareness about the optics of parading her friendship with Sonny around town.  She practically celebrates it.  There's no reason in the world she can't just keep the friendship low key and explain they share a grandchild and frame the relationship that way.  A lot of Laura's choices, like getting into a public fight with Dalton, just make her look silly and like a fairly incompetent mayor.

Carly is another PC lady that's starting to look silly.  I know she's explained her plan a lot, but it's still stupid and moving at a glacial pace.  If Joss is 45 by the time her revenge plot unfolds, what's the point?  Just dump Brennen and move on please.

It is so dumb and is dragging on already after a couple weeks. By the time Carly wraps this up Joss will be running the local branch office.

And yes, Laura deserves better. It's like they tripled down on this Sonny apologia stuff with her and Anna after the Mulcahey saga.

Listen, I am all for Laura Wright wearing silly wigs and glasses if there was a point.  So far she's just been nice to Brennan and made out with him.  How evil lol!!  Even though I have been told Brennan loves her the writing was never there.  It's so low stakes.  Carly should maybe talk to her daughter and have an adult conversation instead.

Laura and Anna look foolish.  I really don't have an issue with either being friendly or at least having some affection for Sonny.  I don't get both of them wanting to have a parade to announce how much they love him and how valuable the friendship is.  C'mon, Laura basically tolerated Sonny because of Luke until Lulu/Dante got together.  Anna likes Sonny because Robin did?  There really isn't much more of a reason for Anna to give him the time of day besides that.  They aren't lifelong buddies.

Letting Brennan put it in yet again while smirking over his shoulder... any day now! She's got him just where she wants him! I do think ol' Jack will be dead by February at the absolute latest. They have set him up as a counter-heavy to Sidwell, forcing poor Joss to work his next scheme or threatening to have her sent down for treason. Once he croaks I still deeply fear we will be subject to Valentin and Carly, partners in crime to lovers, possibly out to find out 'who killed Jack'.

Anna was at her best keeping Sonny at arm's length and often somewhat cold, which she only really did (for better or worse) off and on during Carlivati's tenure. But Finola gradually got too emotional over Sonny, Jason, etc. and was allowed to do that onscreen too much long ago. Mulcahey brought some of that steel back, though Finola still managed to choke or quietly sob through some of that material as Anna found her way there lol. She's a brilliant actress and she did a good job with that stuff in '24, but now we're back to the same old and it humiliates the character whether she knows it or not.

I have long given up on logic and Mayor Laura Collins! It makes about as much sense as Luke being elected mayor over Lee Baldwin in the 80’s, maybe even less sense.

She committed manslaughter as a teenager, was involved with a mobster (I guess credit for them taking Smith down), had a shoot out in her home and killed another mobster in self defense, thought she bludgeoned her stepfather to death, then was catatonic for years. Her current husband had a twin that was a serial killer, had his own breakdown that threatened lives, and most recently hid his brother for treatment and that allowed Ryan to escape and kill again. And had hook killer Esme as a houseguest and is raising her child. I don’t care for Sonny anymore but their relationship is just another thing that involves suspension of belief to watch the show.

I wish someone on this show would remind these adults that they used to pull way worse stuff than this! I would love a scene where Laura is sitting with Lulu and tells her while she is not happy this is nothing compared to what she got up to when she was young, and maybe even some understanding that she would also do stupid stuff if she believed in the cause. Olivia reminding Dante that he was wild as a teen and this isn’t that. Felicia reminding Anna that they were being shot at when pretty close to Emma’s age. These characterizations are just so basic. Have some fun with the actual history of the show. That kind of wink would mean more to me than just name dropping some random fact.

I truly do not understand why this has not happened. It's so un-Carly-like not have confronted Joss already.

I’m thoroughly confused why she won’t say anything to Joss. Joss obviously has no intention of telling her.

The show doesn’t try to be this deep anymore, but even Laura Wright’s Carly would find this kind of thing a betrayal on the level only Jason could do to her from Joss. You could play it two ways- the arrogant Carly of the last decade plus wants to take it to the limit and then make Joss miserable at the end reveal for hurting her. Or the more vulnerable Carly leans into her anger and betrayal only being directed at the WSB, because what Joss did has hurt her too much to directly confront.

So what you're saying is that, in Trump's America, her record is almost too clean to be elected to public office.
