Sharon just ran into him at Siennas club, she stared at him for a moment before saying "oh my god, Matt Clark!!"

Thanks!

I was kind of hoping they'd give him plastic surgery again just for the absurdity...

Ikr?

I guess he still looks like Rick Hearst in universe. 😅

Bringing in Hearst would have at least allowed for flashbacks.

Every time Josh has used 'history' as the basis for a story it's been trash.

But it's fertile ground.

For 2026

Rick Daros returns to terrorise Nikki

Shawn Garrett kidnaps Lauren

Mari Jo Mason plots revenge on Jack

And the dude with the treehouse who kidnapped Victoria-they could refashion the maze set.

I do think Y&R missed the ship with bringing Mari Jo back twice. First and most obvious time would've been when Stacey Haiduk was on the show. Instead of making her Patty, they should've made her Mari Jo. The other obvious time would've been when Cynthia Watros and later Cady McClain played Kelly.

Very much so. It has me seeing so much red...and I'm a Shick fan...that if it wasn't for the wedding in a few weeks, I would just stop watching again...which I stopped when they gave all of Damian's storylines over to BF's Cane AND kill Chance. I guess this is what it is like to hatewatch?

I used to like Shick but at this point, I feel like that pairing (along with many others) are dead. Like the ships have sailed. Like I don't care to ever see Phick. Or Chadam. Or Shadam. Or Ally. Or Villy. Or Phack. Or Lane. I feel like b/c this show totally scrapped the business/work aspect all all these characters do is bed hop every damn episode, I can't invest in any couples. If the show was to end tomorrow, I'd want many people's happy endings to gain a form of content from being alone. But this goes back to why I say Y&R has done a horrible job of transitioning the show over to the younger generation. It is going to be so hard to keep the audience in the next 5 years when (being realistic) Eric, Melody, and Peter leave the show. Victoria and Nick are stale and can't carry the show. Phyllis is annoying and most want her to go away much like Chelsea. People love Sharon but they're sick of her torture stories. And the Noahs, Summers, and Claries are so underdeveloped along with others that they are not going to be able to maintain an audience. Dare I say it, but CBS might need to start developing another new soap. But let me get back on topic. An opinion for another thread...

100% I always had the same thoughts until I started watching early 2000s Days over the past month (full episodes) and it made me realize that you could introduce a BOAT load of new younger characters if the writing is solid. Imagine Days 80’s fans tuning in one day to see Philip, Shawn, Belle, Claire, Jan, Mimi, etc (Even Sami, Austin, Brandon, Lucas) were not on Days THAT long by the early 2000’s and the show must have looked unrecognizable to some long time Days viewers.. and yet, somehow it worked. It proved to me that you can transform a show and still captivate an audience if you can write it properly. The reason a lot of these attempts to “rejuvenate” or “modernize” Y&R hasn’t worked ever is because they just aren’t doing it properly. The vets are the only thing they have to rely on because the stories absolutely suck.

They had it structured so well too in the early 2000s so the stories all felt like they fit and it was a well oiled machine. Y&R had that same thing going with their younger characters in the early 2000s too. Not sure why it can’t be done again. I’m not buying it’s a budget issue either because they’re able to spend money on stupid sh*t. It just doesn’t work.

I mean, I hated a lot of those characters in 2000s DAYS and thought the writing for them was wretched but to each their own. They certainly had their fans in that era who are still fond of it.

The leads on the show should literally be Noah, Fen, Theo, Summer, Kyle, Claire, Mariah, Tessa, Holden, Abby, Chance (if not killed off), Lily, Nate, and Devon.

They should also be starting to build up the umpteen hundred Newman tweens, too.

This issue with Y&R is that there TOO many veterans. A lot of them can go. Seriously. I mean the show was built premise of youth, and there is no youth really driving story on this show at all.

It is just a mess. Again, I don't see how this show is going to survive once Eric Braden, Melody Thomas Scott, and Peter Bergman are gone. It's already running low on fumes since Jeanne Cooper passed and Jess Walton retired.

Wait a minute..... wasn't Matt Clark originally played by the lush 90s babes that were Eddie Cibrian and Rick Hearst? 👀

I'm sorry, but didn't Roger Howarth also play a rapist (Franco) on GH?  Regardless, he must be the most typecast actor in daytime history, lol.

I’d be ok with Nick, Sharon, Victoria, Adam, Chelsea, etc taking a back seat into a more supporting role for their kids. Even Conner and Christian can be aged up at this point, so much time has passed. The oldest vets like Victor, Nikki, Jack, Jill, and Ashley making occasional appearances.

I'd be okay with about 90 percent of Y&R's cast being gone completely, lol.

Eddie Cibrian stays in my mind when it comes to Matt Clark and what he looks like, not so much Rick Hearst.
