The story itself was trash - the kind of hogwash that stinks up SVU every week - but Duncan was amazing in the kind of role I'd never expect to see her in. (And I've seen her as the OG 'Missy Anne,' lol.)I haven't watched SVU since S5, but I believe you! 😄 (Even the scarce promos I see for the show now seem...overwrought, to put things kindly.)

But, if you really think about it, a lot of the casting of the family doesn't make sense. I could see Valerie Harper as mom to Danny Ponce and Jeremy Licht, but not Jason Bateman (proof that Rhoda once married a gentile, lol). And while it was a stretch to see JT playing dad to Bateman, it was an even bigger stretch to see him as Valerie's husband or dad to those twins.Again, Sandy Duncan's really the saving grace here. Her easy, natural rapport with all the Hogan men helps to sell them as a family unit, IMO.
March 2Mar 2 Member The opening credits remind me so much of Family Matters. Was Josh Taylor doing double duty on Days and the NBC run of The Hogan Family?

Michael Hogan's career as an airline pilot meant he wasn't around often, thus allowing JT to pull double-duty. IIRC, however, JT's role on the show expanded once Miller/Boyett fired Valerie Harper, with the explanation (or justification) that Michael would be home more for his sons in the wake of his wife's passing. That meant JT needed to leave DAYS (as Chris Kositchek) and work exclusively on "The Hogan Family."Personally, I think JT left DAYS at about the right time, as Chris was one of those '70's characters that was becoming more and more irrelevant to the show as the '80's wore on. But I guess that's for another thread, lol. Edited March 2Mar 2 by Khan
