Watching today's episode and looky, looky!!! That dangling plot thread about Dani drinking too much finally returned into play with people calling her out on it. I felt it was dropped so I know people will be happy to see it brought up again.

I also am liking they are touching on the undercurrent of tension that we saw in Week 1 between Dani and Anita and Dani and Nicole (though it's Andre doing the calling out).

I like Donnell's first scene is with Shanice.

Oh, I forgot to say...so...it seems we shall continue to get Hayley/Caroline scenes moving forward. Very niiice.

Anita was not playing today. I could not believe she called Andre "boy".

I could. It's Anita. 😜

bringing this over from the September thread...
Nicole is a character with steadiness *and* dynamism, and one of the leads of the show.  Yet her storyline all year has been "the woman whose husband cheated on her".
She did have a few scenes this year with Martin and several sister scenes with Dani, but the majority of her scenes have been
about her connection/nonconnection to a man.
I want something about HER.

Heck, today's episode I felt every word that Andre said to Nicole. Could it be that she feels a way about Dani/Andre because she wants to keep Dani being seen as the hot mess while she's perfect? There's potential to explore that, too. They touched on it during Week 1. I wouldn't mind.

BtG could go the Lillie Belle/Olivia/Dru route with Anita/Nicole/Dani.

Caroline is growing on me more and more. The actress just posted her robe for season 2 and said she had a few fittings.

Good to hear.

Indeed. As much as I do like Nicole/Dani dynamic, I still wouldn't mind that undercurrent from Week 1 explored. Same for the Anita/Dani dynamic.

Sorry, but who is Banneker?

Good Ole Banneker U has been hovering in the background since the first day.  It's a make-believe HBCU in Washington.  Ted and Madison both got their medical degrees there.  Big Bill got his law degree there.  Vernon is an instructor there and is on the board of trustees.  Vanessa's kids go there.  And we're being led to believe Jacob might have a close relative who's on the staff.  I'm expecting we'll soon be seeing Good Ole Banneker U, because back in February, during their "get to know Beyond the Gates" specials, they kind of teased that the university would come into play later on in the series.

It's named for Benjamin Banneker, and they made a point of letting us know that, along with Orphey Gene's being based on the Florida Ave Grill in DC.

Anita acts as if Dani is a teenager who needs a lecture. Her concern is more about the Dupree image than Dani's well being.

Bill was completely dismissive of Hayley when she had a valid concern about him obtaining Dani's marriage certificate. I was glad that Hayley was able to clap back and say that Andre has his own money to shut down that stupid idea that he would stake a claim to any inheritance for Chelsea and Naomi.

Donnell is going to be next on the hit list, but unlike Doug I don't think he will be a casualty.

I still think this ends with Vanessa taking down Joey, possibly to save her son, and taking his empire. Unless MVJ and co. decide to scrap this entire end of the canvas, which I hope they don't. Maybe Vanessa will move into white collar crime after that.
