Tomas is involved in way too much stuff on this show to still be played by a robot.

Mona... a typical bitter child free woman.  She needs to go away and not appear for a few more weeks until she can come back and act like an actual human than a stereotypical one note character.

Tomas is no match for Silk Press Sheila... but really who could Mr Roboto match wits with? LOL

What? Her feelings are valid and she gave Eva far more grace than she deserved. Why would she ever be friends with Leslie knowing what we know of her and more importantly what Mona knows? She has integrity unlike Jan who smells a come up.

-- It's almost funny that Eve thinks Mona and Jan can get through to her mother.

-- Mona told Eve exactly who Leslie is. Anyone with sense would refuse to be friends with Leslie after what she did.

-- Jan acted tough with Leslie in the beginning, but it was all a facade for "Yes, I'll be your friend again and you can do anything you want." Jan got NOTHING from Leslie except a promise not to involve her in any more schemes.

-- I am LOST as to why this show gives so much airtime to Tomas. I mean, he can't even say "Hello" like a normal human being. What is this show seeing that we're not?

-- I did cringe when Leslie called Tomas "senor" and then said "Hasta luego" when he left. Why portray Leslie as a bigot?

-- Please let Hayley go batsh!t. What's going on with her so far has either been dropped, breadcrumbed, or hasn't worked.

-- Gotta hand it to Cady McCain. She uses a different accent in every appearance and still hasn't run out of them.

-- I can appreciate camp, but Pamela behaves like she's auditioning for a role in The Naked Gun.

I never have liked Jan.

Mona is great and they need to build out her family.

excuse me? ! ? ! ? ! ?

Plenty of child-free women are happy.  There is nothing typically bitter about them.

It would be better if the writing had Leslie being angry with Tomas for playing games with Eva as opposed to trying to run interference for a relationship.

Hayley definitely needs to crash out or start scheming.

I'm more a Mona fan than Jan fan, too.

Mona played that walk away moment perfectly -- she doesn't suffer fools -- but why does the white character get to be "the voice of reason"? In the end, Jan offered to talk to Leslie again while clearly not expecting ANY changes in her. Jan got to be motherly while Mona walked away.

I'm white, and I understand the importance of white characters as support on this show. Still, even though the majority of the cast is POC, we still get white people as best friends. Dani, Nicole, Naomi -- their besties are all white.

Maybe this is minor and I'm just quibbling again, because I do understand the need to tie these white characters into the main cast.

Yeah...I would rather have watched Dark Derek this week than him. Can't believe he and Ashley weren't on this week.

Oops. Well, how you get them is how you lose them so...*shrugs*

While I understand Mona's stance on SPS, it makes sense that Jan would be more open to establishing boundaries/start anew with SPS.

Even during their 'Have not' brunches, the show always seemed to portray Jan/SPS as having a more natural connection then either had with Mona.   I think that boils down to both being single moms, having made bad choices about men in the past, and both always kind of wondering what the other side (The Haves) is like.... and Mona has this weird belief that she's part of the Dupree family (even though Nicole wouldn't hesitate to cut her loose without any notice.. but some people need to learn the hard way).

Well do more scheming with her Kristen Dimera self. This just reminds me that they need to get back to her baby lie. I'm hoping that the Next Week promo is her talking to Randy and they give the audience a clue.

Same. I love the Have-Nots so I was happy to see them again on Friday...hehe. But I love Mona more than Jan though I like Jan.

When this show started, I mentioned that I felt how the writers were using Derek/Ashley was quite meta. It seem like they were doing nothing important, stuck in their own bubble with silly storylines vs the rest of the cast who had so much story going...like black/poc characters on the other soaps. Rarely allowed to have a good story. The talk-tos to the main characters. So I can see how meta it is to have Dani, Nicole, and Naomi with besties who are white. Outside of Vanessa who should be Dani's bestie, I don't think they have any interesting story on...though I do like the growing story of Dark Derek which will give Ashley something to do once she finds out. And so much better than the Derek and Ashley live together storyline they started with.

Agree.

So I guess it will be interesting to see their reunion next week (are we going to get a Have-Not brunch for the third week in a row? I hope so!) cuz you know SilkPress is going to next gossip brunch and I'm sure Mona will have a look.

Judging by social media the audience is still riding for Mona above all, so I don't think it was about positioning her as unreasonable. In my experience over the last 7+ months the show seems to consider Mona a moral voice of home truths. I still think they need to really build a family out for her. Like Shanice, she broke out.
