Alex Cheeks (Donnell) is a natural already! I pray they lock this kid down before he jumps ship into other avenues. And his chemistry with Lauren Buglioli (Vanessa) is palpable. I love them as a son-mother! Such good casting.

Yes, this young actor is an amazing find.  I hope he's on contract.  He's a very good actor.

The show needs a college-ages set of characters (four or five of them), leading into a couple of young love stories.  Similar to AMC at the beginning with Tara, Phil, Chuck, Erica, and Jeff.

Without the self delusion.  That's a KEY difference.

It looks like Banneker will be their next setup. You have Vernon,  the twins, Jacob's brother Izaiah and they'll probably have a few recurring characters to round it out.

Ted and Nicole (and Carlton) clashing at the club yesterday re: Dani and Andre's marriage and all the verbal jabs thrown back and forth was pretty good stuff, and leveled up from a lot of the usual B&B veteran house style material you see on this show too often. Who wrote that?

Kat and Eva everyone has covered. You don't have to do much to help those two go all out onscreen.

The pointless saga of Big Randy - hiding away from Joey in the most public venues possible, obviously his sister/cousin/whoever Hayley's accomplice re: her 'miscarriage' then returning to the fold with Joey - is silly, but I'll say again I think Jon Lindstrom has considerably upped his game from early on in the run when he seemed ill at ease in this role. He has great silky menace in a lot of this stuff, like when he shook Randy's hand and purred "I hate it when we fight."

I should add those scenes with Martin and Smitty (can we please just start calling him Bradley onscreen) were also very good. It is not lost on me that this relationship is one of the most nuanced and layered onscreen, and I do think Claybon has improved right along with it through the months. Yes, he's an acquired taste at times performance-wise but he's also a very rare example of overt Black male queerness onscreen, and I think he is working hard. He sold that wistful regret with Mike Manning very well and wanting to extricate himself from the same cycle of their behavior.

Whatever the issues BTG I feel has day to day, we're blessed that they have two very central LGBT pairings onscreen which are being substantially written for and played weekly in heavy story. I may find Chelsea's insta-U-Haul lesbian relationship with perfect Madison rushed and a bit too artificial, but it's clear they are committed to playing out Chelsea's romantic journeys onscreen and I really appreciate that - I'm sure someone else can come along for her. Over on ABC, GH has had fits and starts, made progress forward and backwards over the last year, but is still clearly uncomfortable or unsure on how to currently handle their LGBT characters for fear of what their sacred Facebook audience will say. BTG has no such hesitation. For CBS and for P&G, as well as a majority Black soap, that's a big deal.

Sorry, but who is Banneker?  And why would you put Vernon with the kids?  And of course we have Martin and Smitty's two kids approximately college age.

-- That's a lot of glam on Vanessa for a widow in deep mourning.

-- The casting for Vanessa's son is pretty good, but we should also be seeing his twin sister. It's not believable that she'd stay at school and miss her dad's funeral. And no, throwing in a line that she's seeing her therapist doesn't help.

-- Nicole, either go talk to your sister or MYOFB. Andre doesn't need your lectures and advice.

-- So Shanice can't tell Ashley that Derek has feeling in his legs. Why can't she write this on his daily chart? Wouldn't Ashley see that every day?

-- Ashley showed in her conversation with Andre just how pathetic she is. I get annoyed as hell with Derek's lies to her, then I realize she's a bigger and worse liar than he is. In addition, her games and vibe with Andre are hard to watch.

-- Dani, seriously? You're still this much in love with a guy who never stopped cheating on you during your entire marriage?

-- In typical Dani fashion, one mistake leads to another. Gotta love how much Anita influences her daughter 😂

Banneker is the university that Vernon teaches at, the twins are students, and Izaiah will be teaching there as well.

Banneker is the college Vernon teaches at which has been referenced often.

I don't have a problem with it. The show has enough characters as is and it's not unusual for a soap to slowly introduce a new family or assortment of kids. Deanna(?) can wait in the wings for awhile.
