Eva/Kat? Leslie/Nicole? Dani/Hayley? (or even Anita/Leslie).

The rivalries have been set up nicely. As a lover of Melrose Place, I'd love some catfights.

Why do I feel like Tomas has broken his back at the end of today's episode. lol.

Leslie pulling the fire alarm made me chuckle. Typical Leslie. Hopefully no security cameras in the hallways.

Izaiah and Eva look like they could be fun! Ambyr deserves better than bad acting from Alex. I hope he adds some spice.

I'm a Melrose lover as well so I have to say, the fact that they are somehow known for that and there were actually only technically four always bothers me.

I know many people will say that these catfights are something outdated... or not politically correct... they'll say how this brings women back and how sexist they are at their core... or how they're the cheapest way to show conflict and drama... and they will probably be right... but this is BTG after all... a show that started with a woman getting slapped like a dog in front of the entire town with absolutely nobody coming to her rescue or saying anything. This woman was later threatened with a gun by that same aggressor and again... we didn't even hear anything that critical about it... other than how humiliating it was for the Dupree family.

So when that inevitable moment comes... AND IT WILL COME... this "catfight" has to have a huge build up to it. Not just a random ratings-grab like Bold tends to do every year usually with Sheila or any other wacky character that serves no purpose. It needs to revolve around a huge issue. The only two I can envision getting into it right now are Hayley and Dani. It should reach the level of "Alexis caused Krystle's miscarriage" in terms of "you did me wrong". Therefore, I believe we need EVEN more build-up to this... It's not the right moment still. BUT... with The Hamilton Widow becoming more and more active... there is potential for it to happen in the future months. And when the time comes... I would love for Hayley to take on the role of the aggressor this time, especially since we began the show with the opposite scenario - she was the one being slapped and threatened with a gun. I would be thrilled to see Dani's shocked reaction to the true nature of Hayley as an adversary. She continues to underestimate her, even now.

I know there are growing pains, but this show still feels really basic. In some cases, better actors could give some of the stories more weight, but for the most part, it just feels simplistic.

What do you mean by simplistic?I really don't get your point here.

Many of us have pointed out the weak actors, as well as other problems that need to be worked out. I just don't understand using the word simplistic to define BTG.

Well, judging by the moments before, I do not think sexy time was going to be had. Perhaps a trip to the ER is more like it. 😬

A run and jump is a dangerous idea. I thought that whole scene was just hilarious.

I can totally see your point and it makes perfect sense!

It really is; this isn't Dirty Dancing. Haha. And naked, too? Whew.

I thought the same. But since I had the nickname Tigger at one point, I did find it hilarious, too.

Like a dog has me hollering. lol. But yeah, catfights are in the DNA of soaps and with a good build is satisfying. At all, there's a reason why everyone cheered Nicole trying to choke out SilkPress or to take it back...Doreen vs Maya on GENERATIONS which from what I remember also had a build up before it happened.

Not too much on Li now. 😜  You know I live for those two and want a Round 3. :)

But seriously, I feel it will come. And I could see it between those two. I also feel that Dani will be shocked if Hayley was the aggressor for all of a second. Then she's wiping the floor with her. But I expect (with this week's reveal) that will be a superb catfight.

This is a good way of describing the show.

Maybe it's the lack of history. I don't feel any real emotional complexity to the plots. I guess I had expected more from Michele Val Jean, whose writing I'd heard so much about.

So it seems like a matter of time. :) Because time will build up history and hopefully the writing will also bring more complexity as well.

The Izaiah actor is giving me fake ass Shemar energy.

Perhaps Jacob/Izaiah might be educated professional/troublemaking brothers with a contentious relationship in the vein of early Neil/Malcolm.

I love that deep voice myself.

I think two things that could extend her life is either blackmail bc she knows Bill and the Duprees secrets or she actually does get pregnant and uses that child as leverage.

I was thinking that (blackmail) from the moment she mentioned Martin's Secret on screen during the reveal. I thought it might be the writers again foreshadowing what will probably happen to keep on her canvas. Cuz...what else does she know? And off the reveal, so many of her scenes before now take on new meaning. Like her always being around for example.

I know I must sound schizophrenic, because I've been so critical of different elements on BTG, but now I want to defend it

I don't understand the "simplicity" accusation and I don't understand how there's a lack of complexity. Without examples, I can't get on board with either of those.

What plots on the other soaps are complex? The business stories mess on Y&R? Who's married to Ridge this week on B&B? The Sophia baby daddy story on DAYS? The "no one pays for murder" stories on GH?

I'm not trying to be difficult. Like all soaps, BTG has plenty of problems, but I don't see how complexity is one of them.

I completely agree with this... 100 percent. I'm sure you all remember me saying countless times (to the point of being annoying) that the show had WAY too much backstory at one stage. It leaned heavily on past secrets and events that occurred right before the start... resulting in an overload of history in that context. I recall mentioning that at times it felt like BTG was already in its 10th season rather than the first. Some characters... like Dani, for instance... seemed like they were going through the motions for the 180th time... to the point of feeling tired. However... over time, I've become accustomed to this and I now see why they included so much backstory initially. They began the scene mid-sentence, so to speak... to pique our interest. It wasn't a fresh, clean slate... fairytale start. It was more complicated. Yet again... I value all different perspectives... and I find it amusing that two viewers (or three... or more) can watch the same show and have such contrasting opinions about it. One person feels there's a lack of history... while I... feel there is way too much history. (With minor exceptions regarding certain characters.) The only aspect I would say is basic... is the dialogue. (When it comes to certain writers) That definitely needs MORE WORK. But it's not such a significant issue that they can't resolve it if they choose to. Keyword - choose. I hope they are aware they need to improve it.
