David Lami Friebe, Beyond the Gates

David Lami Friebe (“Tyler Perry’s Sistas,” “All American”) has been cast as Izaiah Hawthorne on CBS’ “Beyond the Gates.”

Although a first air date was not announced at press time, Izaiah is Jacob’s (Jibre Hordges) brother, who hits town and immediately establishes two complicated relationships amidst his own family drama. The timing of Izaiah’s presence couldn’t be worse for Jacob as he and his wife, Naomi (Arielle Prepetit), unexpectedly find themselves on opposite sides of a major marital dilemma.

“Beyond the Gates” marks Friebe’s first foray into the world of daytime drama. He can currently be seen as Trey in the BET original drama series “Tyler Perry’s Sistas,” having made his debut during the show’s seventh season.

Other credits for Friebe include a stint on The CW’s soon-to-conclude “All American” and the series “Bloody Famous.” He also appeared in the 2024 theatrical film “The Haunting of Hollywood.”

Oh, that is exciting. It will be nice to see Jacob's brother come into town and shake things up within the canvas. Looking forward to seeing his debut this fall.

For anyone wondering: This isn't the "hot male" the show has cast, although that's not to say that David isn't "hot." He is.

He is very good-looking, but it leaves me wondering who the actual "hot male" is. 👀

I was wondering if this was who they meant, but I assumed 'hot male' was more along the lines of a big name (rather a soap big name, or a big name outside the soap world).

He does have a very appealing look, and it is nice that the show is finally bringing on some male characters to balance out the heavily female centric characters on canvas.

Someone on Reddit mentioned they hope he keeps his hair. There are too many men on this show with similar styling, and I agree. If I have to wait for my Black Mason Capwell, I’ll make due with some braids.

Welcome to Fairmont crest, Izaiah! Are you going to be a good or a bad boy?

I hope he can act! The show is overdue for a strong male actor in this age range. Also excited to see Jacob’s family expanded.
