I believe SM said she chose to leave.  Not sure if that was Frank giving her the option to say that or the truth.  It all seemed abrupt, IMO.

I think they canned her and gave her the option of calling it her choice (similar to what has lurked around about JJ). They had money to free up and had already saved her at least once or twice in the last year. But who knows.

I don't think it's all Steve's fault that the Quartermaines were decimated for 20 years. There were many factors. But I also don't think he did much to push against it, and he could've. Steve was the one lobbying for Kimberly McCullough's return in 2005 when the show was at a new low, and he was right to do it. Her return slowly refocused the show on the hospital and doctor characters in a way that has lasted and only grown stronger over the next two decades. He could've been a bit more open to nuance re: Jason's memories and many other things. Either way, I'm just glad he's been showing up for them in the last year.

I tend to agree with this.  The show did seem to actively make her more relevant right before she left though.

I agree.  I don't think it was at Steve's urging or that he even wanted it.  So many different things can be blamed.  Frons's directives, JFP hating veterans, Guza wanting the show to be the Sopranos AND both Steve and Mo loving being bada** mobsters. There was a point during the Monavie era that I thought a lot went to Steve's head and he had way too much pull.  He seems mellowed and more open now to play more nuance.

It was sudden given the story. I thought that damn baby and the Scorpio connection had re-cemented her, and I think that was the intention of both initially. But frankly I think Kelly Thiebaud's rehiring was sudden too lol. I think they realized Steve had nothing going and pivoted.

It was a little fuzzy when she left- was she let go or did she choose to not renew he

contract, or wanted out?

I believe she did as well. But it was a case of 'of course she leaves when she FINALLY was getting good.'

-- Steve Burton was again really good today. So were Jane Elliott and Rory Gibson.

-- The Monica dialogue and discussions have been very strong. I trust we'll get more flashbacks at the memorial.

-- So much going on today....I really think I would have held the Gio/Emma kiss for next week. It just didn't fit with anything else.

-- Outback is a cute dog, but I hope they're done with characters having conversations with that beagle. Josh Kelly did good work in his, but that pup was clearly looking at his trainer the entire time.

-- The Ryan Paevey reveal at the end? Uh...I don't know. If I hadn't read all the casting news and speculation, I'm not sure I would have had any idea who was on that gurney wearing the oxygen mask.

They really did. I was actually looking forward to the slap Sasha would give Willow for what she did. And I like the chemistry that was growing between SM and RG, shocking myself.

I definitely remember all of that and Steve's feelings about being shirtless...which made his scene with Britt that much more surprisingly the first go around. lol.

Okay GH. Got me looking forward to Monday's episode.

I'm definitely looking forward to binging on Sunday. I usually reserve it for BTG

Gio and Emma 😍😍

But yeah, you're right @ranger1rg. Their kiss didn't really fit in with the rest of the episode. Maybe it should have happened immediately after Gio found out about Monica.

Everyone absorbing the news about Monica was the best part of today. Steve Burton continued to shine and I really hope the aftermath of Monica's death leads to them taking the character in a different direction. Hopefully, the same thing happens for Michael too. And it was also really nice to see Tracy be comforted by her son and granddaughter. And agreed that we should be seeing Ned's perspective a lot more. Not only with Gio, but now with Monica's death as well.

Welcome back, Nathan, I guess lol that didn't really fit in with the rest of the episode either.

And yeah still, Laura should be ashamed of herself.

The reveal sucked. You couldn't tell who it was. I just kept thinking....

Jason saying “I’ll miss you mom” instead of Monica. Wow that got me. Steve is doing amazing work. Also him telling Michael he regrets keeping him away from the Quartermaines.

Also have to shout out Rory as Michael. He hasn’t had a single scene with LC as Monica and yet you could completely feel Michael’s heartbreak.

Loved Tracy having Ned and Brook Lynn be there for her.

Poor Danny finding out by overhearing Liz telling Jake. And then Danny going to comfort Jason.

They are handling Monica’s death perfectly so far for me.

Nathan returned as he lived: Inanimate.

He’s such a block of wood that I don’t even enjoy looking at him. I know I am not in the majority for the most part but even the most bland soap hunks have to have something going on to make me want to see them at all.

He’a worse than Bolt in The Sun Also Sets!  Cue the music and the giant wave outside!
