Well, Martin's bubble is going to bubble. lol.

Well, this week continues to prove what I said a while ago.

I didn't like the June reveal week because as a B plot, I didn't feel the June storyline was strong enough at that point to be the center of attention. And no A storyline in sight? No, ma'am. On the other hand, the B plot of Doug/Vanessa/Joey has been built gradually enough that I felt it could be the center of attention without an A storyline in sight if given the chance. And so far this week, it's doing that with a nice slow (but building) burn. You can practically feel the tension and Vanessa/Joey haven't even left town yet. And today's Vanessa vs Doug scenes as well as the Marcel/Joey scene today...my anticipation is piqued. Is it truly going to end with Doug dead?

And because they have a solid main plot, it's allowing some of the other plots to develop intriguingly. You have on one side...the growing tale of Dark Derek...and BG is playing him slightly darker...and I liked today's near-miss with Jacob. On the other side...and a great counterbalance...the funny tale of Andre and Dani. And I find it to be comedy done right. Or perhaps it's just how good their chemistry is. Andre was giving 90 sitcom today for me. And both stories are part of the continuing Dani/Andre/Ashley/Derek storyline which is really just a side-story to Dani/Bill/Hayley (and Bill is off in his own story so far this week with being in the Doug/Vanessa/Joey storyline to show his dark side while with his kids showing his good side) I do like. How it feeds into every other story.

And hehe. Marcel's appearance and his brief talk with Smitty was just a nice reminder that the Crooked Cop/Martin's Secret storyline is still in play. Things that make you go hmm. Or if that will truly feed into the Doug/Vanessa/Joey storyline as well given Joey's comment to Marcel.

But let me take a moment to talk about giving Smitty shades of gray. I was so shocked and like I did earlier gasped at how nasty he got with June. Which surprised me since I was enjoying his scenes with Martin and how they still have so much milage to go before they are on the same page. And of course, the June issue is just another block to keep them apart for now. I liked we got to see Samantha's POV since it has been discussed about the fact she's surrounded by women so...why June? That need to know her mama. And it's already been set up for Smitty to be so anti-June during the June reveal. So I relish the next leg of the story because it's a side-effect of the Martin's Secret storyline. Honorable mention to how well Martin has been coming across the last few weeks with brief flashes to arrogant/angry Martin here and there. He's come a looooong way that even he has shades of gray that make him compelling.

A solid B plot (while the A stories all simmer on the backburner with slight connections) with some interesting side stories going on. YES, PLEASE. Nice pivot from last week.

Now that's Hayley. If anything, Derek is Krista Allen's Billie Reed. 😜

I forgot about that!

Hayley's 'pregnancy and miscarriage' mirrors Kristen's pregnancy tale on Days.

Derek's accident (after his head injury in earlier episodes) is mirroring K. Allen's Billie's drug addiction story (great scenes and story)... both instances have bought out a naughty side.

Oh, yeah. I've been calling Hayley Kristen Dimera since the baby lie started. She's been acting like Kristen acted back then, too...all innocent and shading Dani any chance she gets with the audience already being in the know about the lie...doing the typical soap fan hiss at their screen. At least for me. lol. It has given her more agency when I see her on-screen because before the lie she really didn't give me nothing. It just seems like Dani/Bill are going to be the main couple at the start...and just like with Marlena/John/Kristen...Hayley has already been set up to be just a spoiler by her actions.

Ooooo I didn't even think of that, but yes. The Derek from Episode 1 would NEVER be toying with Shanice like he did last week when he knows she can't tell on him due to her oath. Not acting coy or selective amnesia...clear toying. Naughty indeed.

-- I don't mind over-the=top -- I loved Dani pulling the gun at the wedding -- but this Vegas stuff is ridiculous. They were that drunk and out of it that they had no idea where they were? That they were married? GMAB.

-- And no talk at all about getting the marriage annulled? Come on.

-- Smitty is getting a lot of criticism, but I understand his anger with Martin. After all that's happened, going behind his back to set up the June/Samantha meeting was completely wrong.

-- Was Smitty too hard on June? Probably. But let's not forget what a terrible mother June was, so neglectful she put those kids in danger.

-- Good Smitty and Martin scenes. Same for Martin and Tyrell.

-- I'll repeat: Having Samantha ask June for advice about boys is ludicrous. I can think of a ton of other things they could talk about to get closer and know each other better. Boys? No.

-- June's advice for Samantha was right out of Saved By the Bell...one cliche after another.

-- And think about it. Just a month ago, June was paying her diner bill with Monopoly money.

-- The Derek and Ashley storyline continues to be lame. We've seen this before, with better writing. Derek is traumatized by bathroom renovations? (In his words, "Ashley's sanctum.")

-- How is Derek going to get on that bed? I hope Jacob and Naomi work on a wheelchair accessible ramp to get up on that platform.

This spur of the moment "marriage" opens up a ton of possibilities for Dani Dupree & Andre.  They can easily annul it, sweep it under the rug, and never even tell the Duprees it happened. Or they can treat it as something real.  I predict one will wanna annul it, and the other will want to try it out first.  It's obviously gonna become an "issue" once they're home.

I couldn't get mad at Smitty OR at Martin.

Smitty's right.  Under June's "care", Tyrell and that older lady (Samantha) could've wound up dead.  And Samantha has no business seeking sexual advice from someone as irresponsible as June.

Martin is crazy to keep SECRETS from Smitty, when Martin's secrets (and lies) are the entire reason they're halfway separated right now.  But gotta give it up for Martin -- he's a nice guy with good intentions, even if he never bothers to think things through.

Agree. I love the possibilities of Dani/Andre.

And while Smitty made me gasp, I do see both sides.

I had the same thoughts and agree with every single point here :)

Samantha wanting advice from mentally unstable addict June instead of the 20 women in her family is just so ridiculously stupid.

I like Andre and Dani getting married. Very curious where this goes.

I think the drunken wedding was the best thing that could've happened to Dani & Andre storyline-wise.  Opens up a world of opportunities for both characters, who currently don't seem to take their "marriage" very seriously and are simply having fun with it calling each other "Husband" & "Wife".  But things can change in a heartbeat when they get back to Fairmont Crest.

Martin NEVER thinks about the consequences of what he's doing.  Doesn't use his head at all, just relies on his Infamous "Bubble" to get the job done for him, lol.

Samantha:  "When I was a little girl, June disappeared and left me alone without food.  She was addicted to drugs.  She has mental health issues.  She lived under a bridge and paid for food with toy money.  I'm not even sure who my biological father is.  I think I'll go ask her for advice about my love life.  She seems so level-headed and smart."

Martin:  "Great idea, Samantha!  I'll drop you off and pick you up when June has finished imparting her wisdom!"

Unstable past or not, June is still Samantha's mother and a lot of young women do need motherly advice even if that mother is estranged. And sometimes it is better to hear from someone who has made mistakes rather than people who profess to be perfect. The Dupree women are mostly privileged and not exactly willing to admit fault.

If they knew where they were headed with June, they should not have made her so messy at the outset eg the imaginary money etc.

Sure she could be struggling but maybe more on an upward trajectory when we met her.

The story would still have worked and in fact if she was more together, she would have more agency in wanting to reconnect with her kids.

The jury is out for me on the insta wedding. Interesting to see where they take it.

Based on some past plots it might be wrapped up in 2 weeks.

I can't wait for Bill and Ashley's reactions. That will be the make or break even more than all the Dupree's reactions.

Hehe. Bubble.

I cannot stand Smitty. Let Marcel pop a cap in him and bring on somebody new and less judgmental for Martin. The way he speaks to Martin is so condescending and he was horrible to June. He's down there below Ashley on my list of characters.

I loved him, but he really changed. After using Martin for a booty call, I started calling him Sh*tty. And, the way he spoke to June was downright vicious. Is this how MM came across as a rapist character on Days? He was seriously scary today. I think he's actually jealous of the kids having a relationship with June and hides behind his concern to look legit. Maybe he had a tough upbringing himself and that's why he's overprotective? I hope the writers have a motive for his attitude besides providing drama between him and Martin.
