We'll probably get a relative unknown for Dante like we've gotten for other characters.

After Peaches I just hope it isn't Tajh Bellow with grey streaks.

Omfg 😂😂. There’s a lot of people that should be fired for the Peaches debacle.

There are a million weird things about this storyline, including how Peaches showed up, dropped the bomb, and left like nothing happened. And why was Peaches marketed as Leslie’s worst nightmare…?! (See attachment)

This is honestly my biggest issue with this... I don't get why they didn't go with Leslie always having known about this. It would actually explain A LOT, including why she seemingly have been so insistent on infiltrating this family and get revenge. It would certainly put a question in if Leslie actively went after Ted all those years ago and is pulling a huge long con.

TMG definitely added some layers and nuance in her scenes with Eva. I don’t mind Leslie being funny, as TMG is quite funny and good at humor, but it needs to be balanced out and that seems to be happening a bit lately which I’ve enjoyed.

She really has been. And sometimes I feel against what's written at that. From last Friday to this Friday. I believe it is balancing out. Not unlike the characteristics for Dani tbh.

It could be me just imagining things but it feels like we've had longer scenes recently, particularly in the opening segment prior to the credits. They've also fixed the editing and removed the abrupt transitions at commercial. These were small improvements that have helped the show IMO.

Totally agree. I'm hard pressed to find silent moments without some form of music, too.

I loved how Leslie being Barbara's daughter got so much of the cast involved. The Dupree's, Bill and Ted, even Vanessa. It showed the potential this has to move the show forward. I also can't wait to see how her new house set looks! I know people keep pushing that Vernon rumor but I hope they make Dante Green her family and finally give us the second family we wanted.

Speak on it! Now that we are at the 6-month dot, I was expecting some form of pivot for all the A stories. Go figure it's the one that was best paced. Add on that Silk Press Sheila needed a pivot, and it works. I never realized before you typed the above out that it really does involve so many people. Hard to believe it just started with SilkPress, Ted, and Nicole with Eva on the side with Laura to have so many major characters. OOooo I didn't think of that...her house might be one of the sets that I don't think we have seen yet. Hmmm. And we know I am for Dante...hoping for a son as well.

I can’t get past the 3-day June reveal and now the 3-day Leslie/Barbara reveal. I don’t ever wanna see anybody claim that “it’s nice to finally have a soap play out all the beats of a story again!” Bullsht!

Same. I'm like: they have 200+ episodes to fill. Are they this confident to come up with interesting material to fill them?
The only explanation here is that they wanted a ratings bump and that's why they rushed to overhaul the status quo.

Ted should be a big deal on this show. He needs some serious characterization, delve more into his life before Nicole, learn a bit more about his family and upbringing, and give him a storyline around his career. A Black male plastic surgeon on TV is very rare.

That's exactly the point. He's a non-character. There's nothing substantial about him. He's just a plot device. Even his profession is an excuse to develop that ridiculous Kenny plot.

And agree about  the CC thing. Would be more interesting to see Leslie have to make an application and an interview, feeling inadequate up against a snooty committee. And maybe she resorts to some scheming to get accepted. eg seduces a 'respectable' board member.

Well said. That's what I expect and desire from a soap. I also loved @BoldRestless's suggestion on how to tighten the story and extract as much value and drama as possible. Alas, missed opportunities all over.

This show is barely six months old, and all this stuff was filmed long ago. I suspect the Barbara/Leslie twist in the tale was planned from the beginning of the show. The quality of the execution is a whole other issue.

My guess is the speed of stories is one to keep viewers invested in the show and two an effort to move things to the second phase now that we know all the players and have gotten past the initial setup stories.

I can't imagine it'll always remain at this pace but right now it definitely feels like they want to establish their next set of stories and getting out of that new soap mode.

It's something Ducksworth talked about recently re: having to juggle the older viewership's familiarity with daytime pacing and the 18-29s' desire for something faster. I get the issue and I think it's a real one, but this isn't the way to thread that needle. Still, growing pains.

Yeah and that's why it bothers me. I tend to give the show some leeway over the usual growing pains soaps have (ie green actors, production choices not always working out, getting used to the pacing and grind, some stories potentially changing as breakout stars happen). However, it feels like they're consciously starting to fall into traps that usually happens on other soaps because new headwriters and the consequence of running for decades - ie age issues between characters (usually caused by SORAS), timeline issues and random reveals to change the status quo.

Again, maybe it's just my preference, but Leslie should've known Barbara was her mom since it would give her further reasons why she has it out so badly for the Duprees. The reveal for her should've been that there's a trust fund.

No, I think there's real issues with execution and pacing. Some of it is growing pains, and some may be larger or systemic. The family setup is certainly off AFAIC. Starting with Martin and his kids. But the Leslie reveal I don't have an issue with so much as the speed.

I get the idea of fast paced stories for the young ones, some of whom have zilch attention span.

But jumping to a reveal is not the way to do it. If you have suspenseful beats along the way, people will watch and the payoff is even better.

My issue is the follow through- Hayley has been in absentia since the 'miscarriage'. We still are not clear on the point of that story. The Randy connection was a twist-but zero follow through.

After weeks of teasing us about June, in a matter of days, the truth comes out and then we don't see her. And what's left? Either the kids accept June or they don't.

Is there going to be anything more to the Martin story?

They need to keep stories bubbling, rather than ignoring them in favor of another plot.

I agree. Most folks on this board are old school soap fans, but when I read comments about the show on other sites they think the stories are taking too long. A lot obviously new to daytime TV.

The show needs to find a good medium.
