Roger Thorpe from Guiding Light was an antihero when he returned in the late 80s. his  actions were explained by both the show and the actor. I wish   they would explain the why with Leslie. That is why the character is not working for me as well as she could.

Roger Thorpe was a double rapist and I hated him for it. It took GL many years to redeem that character and make him an "antihero".  And it only worked because Michael Zaslow was beyond awesome.

BTG, has only been on for 7 months there is no comparing Roger Thorpe, James Stenbeck, Mitch Lawrence.... etc to Leslie.

Yeah, it's ridiculous. Leslie is minor league.

I have really been enjoying the Peaches/Leslie scenes. I love their dynamic and chemistry, plus I think every troublemaker on a soap needs that one character that's their conscience and humanizes them regardless of if they listen or not.

I really hope she sticks around and hopefully we see some scenes with Anita, Tracy, and Sharon. Im sure they will be handfuls.

That was exactly my point. Like, if you can't handle Leslie, you could have never handled Roger, et al.

Why is the only kinetic energy on this show entirely courtesy of the actors? The directing and blocking are so static and stale. Where’s the MUSIC? My god it’s like every scene takes place in a tomb.

And you cannot expect me to believe this young woman in Marla Gibbs cosplay is old enough to be Leslie’s mother.

Laura was a fine and sympathetic character, and I do like her - but, I don't KNOW her. Right now, my real hatred for Leslie comes from the despicable way that she treats Eva (who remains ever-loyal to her). I'm an Eva stan, so, for that, I can't get behind Leslie for any reason.

I totally agree. When did I miss the scene where Eva moved out of the hotel to go back to living with SilkPress? It's such a step backwards for her. And I don't like it.

As for Laura, it's because she's fine and sympathetic that people want justice for her. Even if it's only a little bit.

I like how this reveal is coming out and they are handling all the questions people asked. Barbara you ARE the mother

I figured that they would and letting the scene breathe as they are walking people through the step-by-step.

I even like how SilkPress is handling it. Yes, she does not believe at first, but she is NOT coming across as a cartoon, but an actually hurt flawed woman.

As I said above I never watched the shows that had Thorpe and Stenbeck.
But I did watch OLTL. I could NOT handle Mitch Lawrence at all.  I had to stop watching OLTL whenever he was around.  That character was repulsive to me and not entertaining.

I agree that Leslie isn't at that level yet.   I don't mind short arcs.  What I cannot handle is an ongoing villain that's always present.

Edit to add:
I guess what I'm saying is that I could handle Leslie's presence as long as they don't try to humanize/reform her when I know she's a sociopath.
I could handle her presence for the next several months if I had faith that she'd be punished and gone in a few months.
I don't want a villain as ongoing cast.

And that's understandable. And also something we discussed a while back with Stefano Dimera. What made him scary and awesome was that he could slide in and out of story (and town) at will and the stories were better for it. And some of that menace was lost when he stayed in town long term versus him coming in for a months-long arc.

Though to be fair...the villains being named are great examples (especially Roger) of exceptions to that ideal.

And we already discussed Original Recipe Sheila.

And like I said yesterday, whether this next story turn will be liked in hindsight does depend on whether SilkPress gets punished at the end.

I personally love that the audience appears to be 50/50 over it. And there's no sign of indifference about it or her at all. So well-done MVJ. You got people talking, venting, fighting, and everything in-between.

And Leslie immediately barks at Peaches, "Did Miss High & Mighty Nikki Nicole put you up to telling me this?"  It never occurs to her that Miss Nikki Nicole ain't studying her stupid ass.

Not at all. The jealousy just pours right off SilkPress when it comes to Nicole. It reminds me of Veronica the Maid vs Nikki on Y&R.

Meanwhile, Nicole was getting her life at her divorce party. lol.

-- The casting for Peaches is way off. The actress is fine, but I have no idea why they can't cast age-appropriate actors. Are they handing out favors to friends?

-- I'm just going to handwave the entire backstory as to how this money was in a trust fund for Leslie, including why none of it was spent.

-- Terminally ill Peaches leaves Leslie and goes right to Uptown for a martini? Uh....OK.

-- Having Madison discuss life and relationships with Nicole is fine, but I do not like the way Madison is written. She comes off as immature and naive and even childish.

-- And I'll say AGAIN that the writing for Ted does not work. Why did they recast if all they planned to make nuTed CLUELESS AF as to how to talk to Nicole and win her back?

-- Jen Jacob was bad today. Did I believe her as someone worried like crazy about the health of a former boyfriend? No.

-- Of course, I didn't believe Derek either. Writing him as the Dumbest Jock in Dumbjockville doesn't work.

-- I agree with others that building momentum in major stories and then dropping those stories for days is a bad idea. I don't get the pacing.
