I think the show made a miscalculation by actually showing her as the one to run Laura off the run instead of keeping that all off screen.

and then following up by injecting potassium laura’s. iv. (and where is laura?). all compounded by months of episodes already pre-taped.

Once again, I have mixed feelings about a lot of this. I don't like the idea of Vernon being this woman's father simply because why would they use this plot point AGAIN, and so soon after using it twice previously. No creativity here. But at the same time, it would be the kind of drama resulting in real crap hitting the fan for many obvious reasons, so I don't know. I also feel like Dante Green should've been introduced while Anita, Tracy, and Sharon were squabbling for weeks. Now the three women have made peace and Tracy and Sharon are about to embark on a fabulous new journey. Dante Green should've already been present through all of it. So he shows up later to discover he's fathered a horrid daughter with a dead woman. Sounds like a "who cares" type of an outcome. Father and daughter deserve each other. Just give Silkpress her due and they can both go their merry way. But will it all turn out this simple? Stay tuned!

I dont think its a last minute retconned as people called this back in June when we learned about Barbera. There was speculation that Leslie was Barbara's daughter and targeted the Duprees for revenge but her not knowing actually makes more sense. The link to Chicago was also always there.

I actually like the Barbara reveal (although it was so rushed). It’s the Vernon angle that drives me insane. Hopefully it’s a red herring but this show has never fed us any red herrings so far (on the contrary, they’ve hit us on the nose with B&B-esque foreshadowing dialogue) so I find it unlikely.

I dont see a Vernon angle. Thats just fans running wild with theories. Based on what the show has put out there, it cant be Vernon bc he did not come into the pictures until years later, after she had been kicked out the group and got pregnant. It makes more sense for the father to be Dante and we set up a new rival family to oppose the Duprees with Dante, Leslie and Eva as the first members. The Duprees do not need more relatives at this point bc htings already feel incestious with everyone being connected to them

I would never be too quick to dismiss fan theories. Many of them have been as much right as they've been wrong. These things can always go either way, and this show is quite predictable too, so there's that.

Sure but that one would directly contradict what’s already been established. Barbara being her mother isn’t a retcon but Vernon as her father most definitely would be

The Duprees lie and keep things hidden whenever it suits them. It’s not out of the realm of possibility that Vernon was being phony all along about not knowing Barbara. I’m not saying it’s likely, but it’s not impossible.

I feel like if Dante was the father, he would have already made his appearance. There’s less shock/juice/“soapy goodness” in revealing that her father is a character we’ve only heard about but haven’t actually met yet. Peaches could have known that and dropped it along with the Barbara reveal, and not a single beat would have been skipped.

We've known almost nothing about Hayley's background.  And now the new twist that Hayley knows Randy.

So now I'm just throwing this out there, based on nothing at all, just random guessing -- what if Hayley or Randy are connected to Dante?

I think they're holding Dante Green back for a reason. By the time he hits town (assuming he does) he will have assumed that importance.

But you're talking about a show that skips beats all over the place.

Look at the beats skipped in the June reveal, as everything has been rushed like crazy To give us plot, plot, plot. Even the Chelsea/Allison story has a ton of skipped beats. We saw them meet and on a date, and then it was on to Stalkerville.

On reflectIon, I'm giving the show credit and saying Vernon is NOT the father. I know the anvil dropping has been incredible, but I cannot they'd be that dumb to write a major plot development that doesn't hold up after even minor inspection. The timeline is all off.

I agree. I don't like the speculation about Vernon as Leslie's dad for many reasons, the most important is that we already have enough Duprees. Giving Leslie money and potentially a father who can help lead another family would be helpful to the show long run.

I also don't think it matters that he hasn't been introduced yet. You can't introduce everyone right away but he could be useful in the future.

It's been pointed out that when Anita read aloud Barbara's suicide note to herself and then told Vernon about it, Vernon didn't react as if he'd known Barbara at all.

Yeah they're basically rewarding Leslie with a long lost mother, money etc and she'll never pay for all the crap she's pulled. That's Brad Bell 101, he's currently doing the same crap with Luna on BOLD

I dunno know I dont think Vernon is the father. Dante could have easily kicked out Barbara cause maybe she threatened to reveal they were involved, to the other ladies, then maybe he kept coming around and then got her pregnant

I hate that all the men on this show are basically cheaters other than Jacob and Vernon. I do not want every single Dupree woman cheated on its already overkill

Perhaps if it hadn't been made crystal clear that Dante Green played a very integral role in the lives of The Articulettes, then his lack of presence wouldn't have mattered so much. We watched these three women squabbling in disagreement for weeks with Mr. Green being mentioned several times. I reasonably kept expecting him to show up as a result, but nothing.

TBH i'm not one for anvils, cause I think people often read stuff into things that aren't there or that they want to be there. I see this all the time with BOLD and people are NEVER right, NEVER. Then they'll say "but there were anvils" and there wasn't. BOLD is a show that beats us over the head with stuff, this show is basically heading that way too
