In regards to MVJ, we all have to remember she spent years under Bell at B & B so she's sadly picked up his bad habits.  The Dani/Bill/Hayley triangle could have been good... but she seems to think Dani walks on water and that she's the best thing to ever happen to Bill when they're a toxic coupling.... and Hayley has potential.. but only if a proven head-writer were bought in and MVJ is removed as show runner.

Actually you got that backwards, she thinks Ashley walks on water, Dani is the one constantly humiliated, degraded, written as the "villain" for characters like Hayley while Ashley is written to fart rainbows and unicorns and can do no wrong

I think partly due to the Duprees feeling entitled and just assuming they do things according to their own rules.   It is ironic though, because Nicole accused Anita and Vernon of acting like mobsters in their handling of the Kenny situation.  But now I guess Nicole feels she has to carry on the secrecy?
That being said, it's only my *speculation* that this is "off the books".  Nicole referred to it as an informal conversation.

It's also possible that during Martin's conversation with Smitty today, Martin referred to it in a way that *implied* it was formal therapy -- possibly because Martin knows that Smitty had been begging him to get therapy for months.

With respect, you are rationalizing.  And rationalizing would never work in a court of law, or the state board of mental health in any state (or DC).

I cannot believe Smitty is continuing to let this funky btch sit on his furniture and disturb his children this way. The only only ONLY thing that made sense in this sht today was Tyrell going in on her useless ass.

Naomi is going straight to hell.

Why did this meeting even happen at their house? So what if the kids decide (rightfully) that they don’t care about June and don’t ever want to see her or smell her ever again. Now she knows exactly where they live, and so if/when she goes off the deep end again, who’s to say she won’t try to break in? It’s not like these people are afraid to use Orphey Gene’s for everything else, they could have met there.

It feels like that's a common theme for all the soaps now, unfortunately.

Agreed. That is probably the issue.

So Kat ISN'T asexual. Bummer.

So...a good start between June and her kids.

Ugh. at Tomas and Eva.

Awww so not Mama. But a Mother figure to SilkPress. And now she's dying. Hmmm. A way to redeem Silk Press Sheila?

Awww a nice little beat between Martin and Smitty.

Oh, lord!!! Who is SilkPress's Mama?

Hehe at Anita and Vernon running interference for Nicole.

Decent episode.

Theories and speculations that I've read by posters here and elsewhere:

  • Barbara is Leslie's biological mother.
  • Barbara is related to Leslie's late husband Alan, and his share of the inheritance now goes to Leslie.
  • Barbara is related to Peaches.  Barbara's inheritance goes to Peaches, so when Peaches dies, Peaches wants it to go to Leslie.

This just makes me more intrigued.

Who is the man that Leslie stole from Peaches?  Was that Alan or someone else?

It came across as someone else, not Alan.

I feel like we all assume Barbara is the mother (which definitely seems like where they're going) but I don't know how comforting it will be for Leslie to find out her mother figure is dying and her actual mother is long gone. Personally I wish one of the living Articulettes were her mother so they could provide guidance and be the person to try and talk Leslie out of her evil ways.

I guess they could still accomplish that by making Barbara her mother. Anita's guilt could cause them to build a relationship but that is going to cause tension with Anita and Nicole.

What if Kat's issues with men stem from having her heart broken by her father? After having that trust shattered I'd imagine it be very hard to then entrust said heart (or body) with another man. What if seeing Dani & Nicole lose it all back to back soured her on men and sexuality? That's a natural reaction that pulls upon established history. Why not delve deeper into the pressure that millennial & Gen Z men and women feel to lose their virginity "before it's too late".

Why is Chelsea her only "talk to"? Speaking of that why doesn't Kat have any friends? Wouldn't relationship talk be a more natural use of Naomi? Why not Aunt Dani, or Grandma Anita? She's obviously comfortable enough with Dani to live on her property and defile her furniture lol. Heck her mother who she rarely crosses paths with. Hell even Cousin Andre could give her man advice!

They're burning through story at breakneck speed and willingly ignoring obvious story beats. There's gotta be a balance between this current rapidfire and the weeklong days and repetitious conversations ala B&B.

Except with B&B there would talks on ends with nothing going on. At least with BTG, usually (emphasis on USUALLY), their talks on ends...lead somewhere and/or have movement. If not in the same episode, then in a few episodes time vs B&B where it can, will, and usually (emphasis again) be MONTHS.

Both yesterday and today I have to say, between the terrible acting/line delivery and the terrible dialogue ("There are positions we could try...") Thomas, despite his conventionally hot looks, comes off as the complete opposite of sexy.

I enjoyed hearing Kat raise the possibility that maybe he just ain't very good in the bed (or on the SOFA, I should say, since her two "encounters" with him have been on someone's couch).

I really WISH Eva would take him to bed, too, and discover the same result Kat found.  And then Eva and Kat would continue the charade of "trying to be his woman" to irritate each other, with neither of them admitting he's a complete dud in the sack.

-- This breakneck pacing has to stop. It's practically ruined this week.

-- The June storyline is a disaster. She's all clean and sober now? Has a manicure right out of a $150 salon? Perfect makeup? Grammar like a college graduate? Happy to be off the streets? Done playing with her Monopoly money? It's all so, so bad.

-- I'm still waiting for an explanation as to why Smitty and Martin changed the names of kids who were around 10 years old.

-- I'd also like to know why that photo June carries around looks like a sepia-tone pic from the 1960s.

-- Vernon told Ted that Nicole was too good for him to begin with. These Duprees are too much. They should deal with the mess in their own lives and stop bragging that they're better than everyone else.

-- Vernon and Anita told Ted to fight for Nicole. Five minutes later, they tell Ted to get out when he's talking to Nicole. Make it make sense.

-- How is Ted supposed to "fight for Nicole"? Help me out here. He sends flowers and cards. He's attempted conversations with her many, many times and she always shuts him down. He said he'd do anything to make the marriage work.

I don't deny Ted has made big mistakes and has a lot to make up for. But he can't fight for someone who outright refuses every outreach. And Nicole getting hooked up with Carlton? LOL Yeah, that'll go well.

-- I do not want to see Ted get with Leslie because Nicole doesn't want him. I do not want characters to be that stupid.

-- Nicole should not be Martin's therapist, and making excuses that she's behaving more like his mother doesn't excuse this ethical lapse.

-- Am I supposed to feel something about this Peaches character dying? Because I don't. You can't throw a new character on the screen, have Leslie weep when she hears that character is dying, and expect me to care.

-- I am happy they're dispensing the asexual path for Kat. That is a losing sexual lane on a soap, and no, I don't care that it's something new and that it "could be" interesting. I'm not here to learn about aces and aromantics when it revolves around a vibrant character like Kat.

-- Glad to see Uptown reopened after closing so ONE COUPLE could have a salsa lesson. Jesus.

-- A few posters here have claimed that or are wondering if the writers care. I can't disagree. The pacing and story choices this week have me wondering what the hell is going on.

Yep. Pretty to look at at times, but sexy...same.
