1987?! I clocked her as way older than that! What the hell?! I thought she was at least in her mid to late 40s, maybe early 50s at max. I thought she was supposed to be in the same age group as Dani and Nicole.

I guessed somewhere between 35 and 40, so I was pretty close.

Maybe on the show Vanessa, Dani, Nicole are contemporaries but IRL Lauren Buglioli is 6 years younger than Karla Mosley and 11 years younger than Daphnee Duplaix.

If Nicole was there, she would have swiped Hayley's shirt, smelled it and went :

Between the ages of the characters and the actor's ages, things get very messy.

I’m actually quite liking the show.

The lighting, the blocking, the directing have improved tremendously.

Even OJ's and Uptown don’t feel so overused lately.

I love the way characters are mingling and gossiping all the time.

Some things still don’t work:

- Andre does not come across like a world traveled player. His intentions are unclear and he seems underwritten. He’s getting the Tomas treatment.

- BTW the whole ‘Dani/Andre affair reveal’ was a nothing burger. We all could tell that the characters would have just gone ‘oh well’ with it and moved on.

- Hayley’s motivations, whatever they are, are not going to sound plausible.

- Naomi is my least favorite character. I want Jacob to investigate her and have her disbarred.

- To me the show does not play all the beats at all. It’s actually missing a lot of beats. Carlton being Ted’s partner has not been discussed in ages and should have been mentioned more in the last few episodes.

- The show doesn’t know what to do after a big reveal. Martin’s story has fizzled, much like Leslie and everyone else. It feels like in 6 months the show has burned through so much story (sometimes even repeating tropes like the 'mysterious phone call' ad nauseam) that I worry for the next 6 months.

Uptown does not look upscale. The hideous green walls should go and some more upmarket decor is needed.

I know the focus turned to The Articulettes but it feels like the aftermath of Martin's reveal has been overshadowed.

Derek's acting has improved thankfully. However, I don't think anyone wants him back with Ashley. Shanice was wise enough not to get involved.

I think it's too early to pick on Martin's secret aftermath as of yet (though by 8-24 it's fair game), but I will and have agreed up thread on the SilkPress storyline and gave my thoughts on Dani/Bill/Ashley in terms of the A stories.

And for me, I disagree on the beats.

She didn't necessarily move it; she was holding it and looking at it after he left, and when Naomi knocked, she placed it down in front of her on the coffee table.

I also like that some of the interactions have been in people's residences vs at OJ's or Uptown.

Let's face it, the writers dropped the ball with Hayley by not providing her point of view in the same manner as Bill and Dani.  This leads me to think that the show is leaning toward Bill/Dani as end game and Hayley is just a plot point/obstacle vs an actual character

I'm on the fence with Naomi because the writers haven't really given her any development or POV other then she's the lawyer and was close to Bill/Hayley.   Her marriage to Jacob works because the actors sell it, but the writing doesn't really go there in terms of natural conflict (Jacob's boy scout level need for ethics vs Naomi's somewhat grey shadings).

I've also have said that about the show doing strong Milestones (i.e. Point A, Point B, etc).. but we miss the beats between Point A and Point B in some cases.

I had chalked up the Silk Press Sheila/Ted bombshell being stalled due to the recasting of Ted and allowing the new actor time to put his spin on Ted (which I've noticed in recent episodes that he's playing Ted with a bit more edge).. but the other stories I can't understand why they stall and/or not focused on for many episodes (i.e. Vanessa finding out Doug owes money and that Joey played her with no follow up for many episodes, Martin's secret coming out with little to no mention, etc).

Yes I've noticed that!

As we have all observed, just as there are posts saying there's no followup to xyz storyline -- then, boom, there it is, like magic.

Today, followup on Kenny's death in the park.  Elon and Joey talking about mutual silence about the incident two years ago and Kenny's death in the park.   Jacob walks into the casino as Joey and Elon are shaking hands.
