I think it's one of those weird instances where we think they dropped a story, but then it pops back up again. Sorta how we thought Malone and Elon were dropped for a sec. I'm sure it will be back.

-- I thought today's show was a good one, highlighted by Nicole's emotional scenes with both Martin and Dani. All 3 were excellent, and their scenes were moving.

-- Nicole is still very angry with Ted over the affair baby -- and rightly so -- and she makes a lot of good points about Ted not telling her what happened with Martin. Still, I think Ted had solid responses to that. It's possible that both people on opposite sides of an issue can be right.

-- Dani came off as a little naive when she was first told about Martin's horrific story, as if it was hard for her to understand how that could happen. I didn't buy that at all.

-- Anita is still coming off as imperious and a bit removed from real life. Filling us in on civil rights and marches and freedoms just seemed awkward. I was ready for her to say "DupreesStrong."

-- I like Jacob and Naomi being on opposite sides, although again, the "I'M A DUPREE!" line makes me gag.

-- I become less of a Chelsea fan every time I see her.

-- Derek and Shanice are good together, although I wish it wasn't just for game playing. I realize that may lead to something more.

-- Once again, Ashley did nothing with really bad writing. "See you later, alligator" is really what the writers are going with? They make her so lame and so uncool that it's unreal.

Nicole needs to kick Ted to the curb. Carlton is waiting for her.

Of course he is, because he's a dirty skank. Ted has messed up but Carlton seems sleazy and even more untrustworthy.

I can understand how Dani could come off as naive, but she is the type of character that would be aloof and extremely sheltered from reality. All she knows is modeling and Bill. As far as Anita, she's desperate to make the cover up right by citing the civil rights struggle.

To be fair to the writers, I think the "see you later alligator" line was intended to be awkward and bad.

Oh...Daphne is going to be giving masterclass all week I see. Alrighty then. Let me rewind just one more time...lol.

Brandon and them pants.

Daphne really is the star in my eyes, and I'm ready for them to shift more focus on Nicole and her journey. I liked her in the beginning, was extremely underwhelmed by her for a good little while as I watched on and off, and then saw the fire in her once the Ted/Dana reveal happened. She's the character who's evovled (if you want to call it that) in the most natural, classic soap way so far.

And god yes, I don't want to be a creep and mention it every. damn. time. but Mr. B. Claybon just be cheeked uppppp.

Well, Anita saying that the Duprees don't use violence is rich while her daughter, the spoiled gun-toting nutcase, is sitting right there.

Dani's line about "our men in suits and a nice car" really highlighted how privileged the Duprees are, so it makes sense to me that she would be so shocked that Vernon and Martin were attacked. Things like that happen to other black people, not them.

Definitely. I think it was further highlighted when Vernon said that Nicole and Dani never had to go through something like that and how Anita and Vernon shielded them from it. The Dupree offspring have lived in privelege and they can be detached from harsh realities that everyday people have to go through.

I can't with the internet sometimes 😅

Well I guess Hot Girl Summer for Nicole.

Nicole certainly didn't lavish much DuPraise on High Command Vernon & High Command Anita when she breezed in.

Must be nice to work at Garland Memorial Hospital where your job duties mostly include faux flirting.

Oh, I agree with you there. That's why I called the writing for her bad, though. They're writing Ashley as just too awkward.

Exactly, on top of Martin killing one guy and beating up on another.

And not just a passing line -- but extended conversations!

I've always love Daphne from her OLTL days, but as of late, she's just been ON and I can barely take my eyes off her in scenes. And Nicole was my pre-premiere favorite already. She just feels on a whole other level now that she's had tension with Dani, lunged at Silk Press Sheila, and I'm looking forward to rewatching her vs Anita because they were both giving. I know that I usually have been mostly praise, but I agree that we don't get enough of Nicole and her journey since the reveal. And that I have not liked. I'm hoping that with Martin's Secret coming out to the family that we are now going to get more of her and her POV. Because she's been slowly, but surely giving force of nature just as much as Dani if different than how Dani would do it.

I mean...I'll say this much...today looked like a good day for pants. ;)

Perhaps I took the line reading the wrong way, but I thought Dani was saying that as a way of how the racists must have saw Vernon and Martin with a hint of sarcasm because heaven forbid black men dress in fine suits and have nice cars. But I could be wrong.

Completely hollering.

Though at this point...free Nicole if Ted ain't going to put up any kind of fight.

I can't believe it's been almost five months since the premiere. IMO, BTG has had far less growing pains than some of the other soap premieres I have seen.

The stories have been compelling, the acting top-notch and with really great production values to boot.

Nicole, has always been my favorite. As for Ted, he's a terrible father to Martin and terrible husband to Nicole. Brandon Claybon has improved but he still comes off like he's reading a speech when he speaks.

I want to also express how much I'm enjoying Shanice & Derek. Ashley is completely neurotic and knowing that is making me want to know more about her character.
