The noble act does not work for Ashley and I think the actress would excel more playing adversarial.

I see potential in that as well. Just look at how people have turned on her and like (more or less) Derek now.

Maybe that's the long term goal for Ashley... her gradual descent into the dark side.

Wouldn't that be something if Ashley became this show's version of Kristen DiMera? On the other hand, I can't really see Andre being with Ashley long term if she turns dark.

I don't care, Dani isn't wrong, Andre played in her face, now he's turning it around on her, he knows she was getting ready to tell her family about them.

He's trash

Mike and Brandon doing great work today!

date: Wednesday, July 9 | Christopher Dunn, Jazmen Darnell Brown | Michael V. Pomarico

  • Bradley and Jacob do work well together, but they both need to be careful.
  • Dani, with her Cheshire cat grin at Andre and Ashley... looks like her sip of drink has helped immediately calm her down.
  • Deadbeat needs to be honest with his family if he truly cares about them. He is buckling, and it is not a good look on him.
  • Well, it looks like Joey's true nature is beginning to come out with Randy and with his bitch Marcel by his side. Let's see what Joey is all about. Well, look who it is: Vanessa and Douglas, showing up at the final moment to provide some potential relief where Randy is concerned.
  • Facials? Ethiopian food? Interesting combo... but, again, Deadbeat... your façade is fading, and it's fading fast.
  • Andre is holding a mirror up to Dani... and I bet it cuts like a fist. Go along, worry about Billy-boy, and let Andre be with the woman he's meant to be with: Ashley!
  • I love seeing a bold Vanessa; she's not afraid to stand toe-to-toe with Joey, and I think... underneath the "mob" face, I think he likes it. And just laid the law DOWN! Either Joey lets Randy walk, or she walks from him. Ow. That must BURN!
  • Jacob is beginning to place more pieces together, and that makes me concerned about him, his safety, and his future.
  • Oh Dani, your sarcasm is... a bit much. And it's clearly turning Andre off.
  • Get it, Jacob! Get it! You're on the trail. Don't let your father deter you from it.
  • I'm going to need Deadbeat to be honest; if my husband were standing in front of me, with tears in his eyes over my secrets, I'd be heartbroken.
  • Yup! I knew Joey was going to be turned on by Vanessa standing up to him in the way she did.
  • Bradley is a far better man than I am; if my husband were pushing me off in the way Deadbeat is, I'd pack my shït, tell the kids to pack their shït, and I'd LEAVE!

Notes:

  • Once again, Lauren Buglioli (Vanessa) is playing a game, and I love it. She's all in as Vanessa.
  • I take what I said about Brandon Claybon (Martin) yesterday. Must've been a one-day fluke. #RECAST
  • The way the Martin storyline is beginning to umbrella and bring in more characters is exciting to me. That's how umbrella storylines should work.
  • Karla Mosley (Dani) continues to show up and put in the work; her nuances as Dani work effectively well in the role.
  • Good on Mike Manning (Bradley) showing up; just a shame he's carrying his co-star through these scenes.
  • The past few episodes have shown some improved lighting in [some] sets, and it's a good sight that they saw how the show was looking on television and felt the need to tweak things, either in post or on the set itself.
  • The scenes of Elon/Jacob and Bradley/Martin for this reveal are... brilliant. They did this for Ashley/Derek, and it worked so well. Good way of telling a story from two different perspectives in the same storyline.

I think had Andre not reassured Dani that he wouldn't do to her what Bill had done to her... then Dani wouldn't be flipping out so much.   He made it seem as though he was open to things becoming more exclusive then just the No strings attached arrangement they had been enjoying.

I'm hoping the Vanessa/Doug/Randy/Joey dynamics continue to play out once the episodes credited to Guza conclude.

And I'm hoping we continue to see the gradual slipping off of the mask that Ashley's been wearing.  Part of the mask wearing is due to Ashley being sheltered/isolated while her single mother worked together and the other part of it is due to perfectionism.  Maybe that perfectionism is a way for Ashley to keep her darker side in check.. and her melting down is her darker side finally wanting to come out in the open.

Anything is better then the weird magazine quizzes, and awkward co habitation drama that we witnessed between her and Derek.. and her dependence on Andre for emotional support even though Derek is a teddy bear and a symbol of what she should go for.. not what she really wants/crave.

Another great episode! Jazmen treated us to two amazing tracks in a row. Dani's last line really touched me and made me rethink her relationship with Andre; I don’t believe he’s what she needs right now.

There was some fun dialogue too!

-On my mama.

-Temu Shaft.

-Main character energy.

-"Someone so basic, she makes Vanilla look spicy"

I don’t think Jen Jacob has the charisma or skill to succeed in this medium. I’ll happily eat crow if they turn her into a villainess and she succeeds, but I just don’t see it in her.

Right now, she’s the equivalent of me staring into a white wall hoping it turns into something more interesting, but knowing she probably doesn’t have that capability.

YES. His story has been an umbrella for a while. A month and a week and counting. And giving A story the way it should have from Episode 1.

I definitely like when Jen plays attitude more than this Carrie Bradshaw-Lite (as in later season SATC alias the shrew) she's been doing with Ashley. So I could see her being better as a villainess vs a Mary Sue. Cuz right now, I side-eye her soooo hard now and I liked her in the beginning.

I totally get that.
