I am tired of posting photos of pretty people in annoying, and now depressing, storylines.  I'm done.

Wow, that's dumb, he was a very good actor and a find. What was the point of all that history revision just to kill him off? Geez.

I guess that explains why he was in a bad mood on social media lately.

The actor said he's known since May. That explains his public rant. I knew he was doomed once he had posted that.

Thinking about it more, it is so vintage JG.

Retcon storyline drawing on "history" by creating a totally new character from a classic one, but also not having her interact with anyone she knew in the past (just the offscreen lunch with Traci!).

Create what seems like an intriguing drama (a man who is estranged and won't even speak to his own mother when he learns she's dying!) but then have it turn out to be nothing (he was upset she was working all the time while his father was dying and she explained she was doing it because they needed insurance, all is forgiven easily).

Include a convoluted, pointless subplot where he randomly gets another guy to pose as him, with some random "business" stuff thrown in. Something about random job offers from random companies with no offices.

The main actor turns out to be good and has potential storylines with his new brother and chemistry with Lily, setting up a love triangle with the new pet character/flavor of the month.

Decide to kill him off instead, leaving us with the elderly retcon mother character who was only brought on to introduce the son.

I didn’t know Damien that well (only started watching the show again recently) so i won’t pretend I’m sad he’s gone. His character didn’t interest me much. He seemed quite boring actually..

ALL that being said, his death seems completely unnecessary. We’re supposed to believe anyone other than Cane or his dorky assistant could have done this? Who else has any kind of motive? They could have told this same story without having half of Genoa City involved. Nikki, Victor, Nick, Sharon, Phyllis, Billy, Sally, Michael, Lauren and more REALLY don’t need to be involved. If they wanted a story for Cane & Lily just do that? Why is everyone else there?……

Two reasons why I thought Damian was a goner:

1) they really did finish his arc fast - reconciling with Amy and a way-to-fast bond with Nate;

2) Holden - NO has mad chemistry with pretty much everyone - female/male. Plus *Sneaky* Holden really is a protagonist with a blank slate - something the show really needs. Holden can be paired with Claire, Lily, Audra, Phyllis, Chelsea, Sally, etc.

I always thought Damian was being brought on as a potential replacement for either Devon/Nate.

That said, I would've simply had Damian move back to Chicago with Amy instead of killing him off.

HARD pass on pairing Holden with Phyllis. She looks like she could be his granny.

I could totally see him with Amanda though.

Agreed on Phyllis as romantic partner, I was thinking co-conspirator. She needs a new one - Billy is way past his expiration.

And, yes, to Amanda, but my assumption is that MM isn't staying as a regular. I'd love for her to stay long term.

See? I thought they actually took their time with reconciling Amy and using it to keep tension between Damian and Nate. It was the scenes as Damian was leaving town to head to Nice that was my clue he was probably a goner. And how so many of his plot threads were either being wrapped up...or with the Dumas 'twist' of him not being the head of the company being given to someone else.

That said...I couldn't help, but think the same. Holden, Damian, Devon, and Nate. That's a lot of...men on canvas. So someone had to leave. I was worried it was Devon. Or even Nate himself...given he is totally into Audra.

I figured he was a goner merely because of his last name (Kane).  Once it became clear Billy Flynn would be playing CANE Ashby, it seemed pretty obvious the "other Kane" (Damian) was out the door, lol.  You never they never intended to have two Canes/Kanes.

ITA. It seems they named JR Damien Kane, then when Billy Flynn signed on they needed to pick a character for him to play, so they gave themselves the great idea to have BF be Cane freaking Ashby.

I still remember BF asking fans to be kind when it they found out who he would be playing. I can't believe they thought Ashby was a good idea.
