Haha, welcome! Thanks to @Vee I can't think of her as anything but a crime against nature.

She is.

It's funny to see Setton criticized right now when the past few months are the first time she's impressed me. She's sunk her teeth into this and it shows IMO. The way she's played her simmering rage at Lulu is the first time she's felt like Tracy's lineage.

Her wardrobe is insane and I don't understand it. A linebacker masquerading as a glittery tuxedo cat is not the look I would have chosen for the big reveal of Gio as her son but what do I know?

Lol.  Setton is probably actually doing good work and I am probably wrong.  The minute she comes on screen in some ridiculous high collared Chico's outfit I am put off.   The whole we want to protect our spouses and children thing is so obnoxious I'd rather see Alexa's Lulu act confused about why she was slapped than Brook Lynn win.

This plot has made me like Chase for the first time! I love a wife guy on a soap! That's his woman and he's on her side no matter (until they inevitably divorce at some point in the future). It's nice to see a guy be ride or die for his girl, on this show it's the women who spend their free time acting as cheerleaders for the men.

Really good point about Chase.  I didn't think about that, but it's nice to see a man ride or die for his wife on GH.  Even if his wife is gearing up to join MC Hammer's tour like @Vee said and Chase has probably never seen her naked in the daylight 😂

I think Setton's acting in this story has been on point. It's the overall longtime handling of the character vis a vis her BTS preferences I have an issue with, and the obvious focus on her as FV's old friend and therefore Handmaid Tale's-esque heroine of the show vs. Alexa Havins' Lulu. You can have both without dragging the other into the mud, but Frank evidently wants everyone to know sensibly-dressed Amanda Setton is the star of General Hospital.

I should have waited to post.  You said it much better than I did.

Also true lol. I have a hard time focusing on the performance when she rolls up in another outfit from the Biggie Smalls Memorial Collection.

I should add that given the Britt angle being introduced,

Rocco better not start going around demanding 'a relationship' with Dr. Dull Surprise because I'll vomit.

Britt and her deranged mother literally stole that baby in vitro or whatever, then whined and connived about it! Fúck Britt.

It was the same thing in the Kirsten Storms baggy sweatshirt era.  NO ONE tells these pretty women this looks ugly on camera-and also probably ugly in real life.  It's obviously a sensitive subject, but I assume a trained wardrobe person could kindly say your Michael Jackson outfit is hideous and here are other options. Or a mid to late 30's woman would never wear this outfit from the early 90's.  At this point I don't even know if GH has a wardrobe person though.

Nor should it lead to a retcon of Rocco actually being Britt's son, Ben. At all.

This plot has also made me dislike Dante. I found his reaction to Rocco's alcohol poisoning to be wildly out of character and his stance in regard to Chase isn't in step with who he is either. They clearly want him to have a certain perspective to amp up the conflict but it's not working in those instances. Only his reactions to Brook Lynn and Lulu (especially) rang true. I don't think Dominic buys it either which in resulting in some of his weaker performances.

I actually think Dante overall looks worse in this story than Lulu, for the reasons you mentioned. Yes, the show probably does prefer Setton to Havins, but I think most of her actions are in character and they do try to give some space (for instance, they could have had her tell Gio the truth out of spite - Luke would have - but instead they did the old overhear). Dante's reactions feel more contrived.

I think Setton is a horrible lead.  She's dated like a 50's housewife without even being old.  Havins is much more viable, but no one listens to me lol.  I expect so much more from Ned/Lois's daughter and I don't think I am wrong about that.

She wasn't like that at all when she was on OLTL. I guess she married an ultra conservative guy, now she dresses like a Williamsburg hausfrau.

Sans the the horrific wardrobe, I like her as BLQ.

Wardrobe is literally my only issue with Setton as BLQ. She has great chemistry with her onscreen family and in general with most of her castmates. She and Alexa feel like they’ve worked together for years.

I was vaguely aware of Britt, Brad, and Maxie being involved in some convoluted surrogacy swap issues, but I wasn't watching GH when all that aired.

I see that SOD just posted an explainer about Rocco's conception and birth storyline.
(There's a hinted spoiler in it, so don't click if you want to be spoilerfree).

For anyone willing to read it, would you verify  if this is what happened? Because, wow.

It's on Amanda.  She could have married the most conservative guy ever-I don't know anything about him to speak.  But Amanda Setton is being paid to play a part.  And, again, if it doesn't align with her morality or values-that's fine.  Someone else will do the job and probably look a lot more excited about doing it.

But the thing is everyone is saying her wardrobe is an issue.  So someone needs to correct that.

I don’t disagree with that. Just saying that I still enjoy her as a performer. As she delivers in the acting department for me.

-- So Lulu talks to Gio and lets him know he's been celebrating the wrong day as his birthday. Geez, does Lulu ever think before opening her mouth?

I like Amanda Setton very much as BLQ -- about as much as I hate her wardrobe and that she's permitted to get away with that.

It's mid-June and today she was again in long-sleeved head-to-toe black. Just awful, and it does detract from the scene. It just does.
