The Wednesday, May 21 episode of “The Young and the Restless” will feel a lot like a Valentine’s Day celebration when the daytime drama series devotes an hour to love, centered on three of the show’s most prevailing couples.

According to Swooon, a sister publication of TV Insider (TV Guide Magazine), the episode will focus on the pairings of Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), Michael Baldwin (Christian J. LeBlanc) and Lauren Fenmore (Tracey E. Bregman), Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters).

A description of the episode sees Victor and Nikki noting their historic love story as they provide input to their family on how to make their love lives as successful and long-lasting. Meanwhile, Michael makes it clear that their relationship is the most important thing in their lives, and Jack presents Diane with a special gift to thank her for her recent renovation work on the Abbott mansion.

Note: An earlier version of this article indicated the airdate as Thursday, May 21. The correct date is Wednesday, May 21.

It's daytime. There should be love (and romance) every day of the week. The fact that they are hyping up one day of "love" is hilarious!!

I just want to shake my head. Clearly this show doesn't remember what it is supposed to be. Maybe someone should be forced to watch early era Bill Bell episodes to be reminded.

These standalone episodes have become a continuing joke, and this one sounds worse than usual. We're getting an entire episode of 3 couples doing what they've done over and over and over.

Victor & Nikki and Jack & Diane will be in their "new homes" so we can AGAIN be reminded of the new sets. Michael & Lauren will be in a restaurant, of course, because they don't even have a home any longer.

This show is an embarrassment, and could not suck more.

    • Fine by me, as long as our hero goes out in a blaze of glory

    • Smitty vs Martin now. Lord...   Well given the various discussions about Anita...this part of her vs Tracy looks like it's touching on Anita as a person now!   Not Silk Press Sheila in a Nicole wig!!!!!!  Living up to her nickname sake with the light Lauren hatred.    And now Vanessa laying into NuTed while Nosy Nurse is around...lol.
    • I'm going to rationalize it with this bit of irony: in a world filled with facial transplants, computer brain chips, and prisms, drugs are the only crime an international spy hero cannot solve. (too ABC afterschool special?)
    • May would have been very good as Lloyd. I'm still not sure why they didn't do a better job casting that part, aside from Joe Lambie. Who thought hiring Robert Reed made any sense?
    • That would make sense. I should try to look for one of the interviews Toni had around then (I think there was one somewhere).
    • I spent the afternoon coming up with an alternative story idea for John's death. Suppose, Orpheus wasn't caught after Marlena, Steve, Paul and Andrew foiled the nuclear bomb plot, but took John as his prisoner and went on the lam. Eventually, it gets revealed that he was the one who had the sepsis drug stolen, not some random junkie. And he uses that, and John as bait to lure Marlena, Steve, Shawn, etc. to where he's holding John. While they're all searching for Orpheus, John and the drug, Shawn manages to find the drug and rushes off to save Bo, but immediately after that, Orpheus captures Steve and Marlena and ties them up in a room with John, who's also tied up and weak but has a bomb strapped to his chest. As the bomb ticks down, Orpheus explains that he's finally going to kill them all, once and for all. But just as he's about to leave the room, and the timer on the bomb reaches zero, John breaks free of his restraints and attacks Orpheus. They struggle, fall out a window and the bomb explodes, killing both John and Orpheus.  Idk if that's the best idea in the world, but it seems to work for me. Not only would it have John die as a hero, but it would also rid us of Orpheus, who I hope is completely forgotten about now. Even though Marlena, Steve, Roman, etc. are still on canvas, he has no purpose anymore now that John is dead. And it just doesn't feel right to me that John is gonna be dead, while Orpheus is still alive. In some ways, it almost feels like, after all these years, he beat John. Which is total crap. If Stefano couldn't beat John, there's no way this pain in the ass could do it

    • Also, good to see that Hope has kept up Bo's fade for the past year. It must be tough to maintain a high and tight fade, when your client is in a coma.
    • Ooooh. Sounds like the lame stories that came right before Diane came back from the dead.
    • Bad enough I barely remember LOL. I recall the month was tied between the surrogacy, Phyllis sleuthing on her laptop at the bar in the Grand Phoenix about Tara and Ashland, and Sally getting Summer her dream job to get her out of town.
    • 'Oh...that's Ms. B!tch.' OMG!!! Not Silk Press Sheila giving an old school threatening villainess scene. and the building background music was EVERYTHING in that moment.   Oooooo YES! Loving Anita vs Tracy. If this is how it's going down with Tracy, I can't wait for Sharon to show up.
