I will say though, it does add to all the devastation going on with John, Bo, and Philip, especially with that Steve/Kayla scene discussing it all. It's a shame Pease seems to be completely done with the show, whether by choice or necessity.

One day, we'll have to do a census of the number of times the last few characters created by a former writer survived a significant amount of time under new writers.

Last one in/First one out...

I was thinking the same thing. This pic is for the wedding.

It's a shame Peyton Meyer has already taped his final scenes. He will be missed.

Like Leo. Why the hell is he still here? And he can take Gwen with him. (Why the current team is letting her come back, despite being under Ron's directive, confounds me. If Jack needs a daughter on canvas, resurrect Abigail, the non-retcon.)

Seriously - I like Doug III as a character in theory, but dude has been entirely flat in his acting so far. I kind of hope they'll just rest the character for about two months and then have him turn up with a new face.

D3 in theory coming on right after Doug passed away as a comfort for Julie is perfect in theory. Hiring a block of wood that barely has a pulse in most scenes completely ruined any chance I had of caring about the character, the sooner Peyton is gone the better.

I tend to give new actors on soaps - especially on DAYS and its bizarre production model - a lot of slack for the first few months. Elia Cantu is a good example of someone who was very shaky in the beginning, but really grew into the role and is now someone I hope they integrate more long-term into the cast (which is why I'm hoping the baby's Shawn's lol).

But Peyton's not improved at all and yeah, he needs to be gone and the role recast if they want to make it work.

Here’s the thing, when I see a new actor that’s trying I give them much more leeway. But when you have zero expressions or emotion in your voice, there is zero leeway. Maybe it’s my acting background from college, but I feel like if you’re hired for an acting gig, simply learning the lines is not good enough.

Another screencap from the middle of that same DayofDays "season 60" trailer/promo.

Marlena's blouse has some purple in it. Belle and Carrie wearing dresses with purple shades/patterns.
That has to be for Drake's pancreatic cancer.

    • Anyway...they literally mentioned the secret room today on Days and yes, this show needs a Kristen lesbian story lol.
    • Yes, they did a 'premiere' of Maggie's death episodes at the ArcLight theatre in Los Angeles, arguably then the nicest movie theatre chain in the USA. Plus, Suzanne and Deidre were in a ton of scenes together during this time. Whatever happened between them happened after 2004.
    • There are episodes with Jenny (Mary Ellen Stuart) that she was in pre-writers strike.. and I know that she lasts until at least August 1988. It's a shame that the show didn't try pairing her with Rusty since the two had more chemistry than she had with Ross and that he had with Rose.
    • Was that when she put on the"Slut of Springfield" red dress and made a complete ass of herself at the CC, so of course Alan fell madly in love with her on the spot?
    • Oohh...now I'm not sure. Long did come back in '87, didn't she. She broke up Ross and Vanessa almost from her first minute back. Van and Ross are at the Country Club when Josh dumps Reva. And Reva dramatically drapes herself on the CC stairs.
    • Glad you enjoyed watching. Yes, Michael seems like fun. I am always interested in more of these niche talk show appearances.
    • Thanks for the tag @DRW50
    • Upon reflection, I think you're right, their chilliness toward each other was more recent. She said women on the show in 1984 were not supportive and she still stays away from them. She seems friendly with Susan Hayes so Deidre is the only woman still around from those days, though I guess Kristian Alfonso and Leann Hunley could also qualify. And it might be someone long gone but who is still present in Suzanne's social circles.
    • I don't know.  The animosity seems to be more recent than the mid 80s.  When Maggie was a victim of the Salem Stalker i remember reading an interview with Suzanne where she said they aired the episode(s) surrounding Maggie death in a theatre and made a big deal about it.  Suzanne was very upset about being fired and Dee comforted her and said that they were making such a big deal about it because it was Suzanne/Maggie.  I cannot find the article but I will keep trying. That said Suzanne's comments on Soapy about how some of the female cast members treated her during her illness was disappointing to hear to say the least.
    • Anyway... Kristen should have a prison lesbian story arc. And then come out and become obsessed with Marlena so we can move her on from the Brady nonsense. Is that secret room still in the DiMera mansion?
