I loved today's episode!

The flashback really humanized Dana for me, and I wish we had seen more of this a bit earlier. Dana thanking Martin and Vernon for keeping Bigfoot and Atlantis secret was hilarious.

Jan instantly elevated the Ashley and Derek scenes with her presence and I like that we are finally seeing some real conflict between the two of them.

I was hoping that there would be some Supreme-sized drama surrounding the Articulettes's breakup and it was confirmed today. Telma Hopkins and Valarie Pettiford for Sharon and Tracy? I know they have been on Y&R recently but I don't watch. Are they still there?

Anybody remember what year Anita was supposed to have retired? With her being so successful (EGOT), I expected them to have it she missed pivotal moments in her children's lives, and at least one of them has resentment over it.

Did they ever really say. It had to be late 70s or early 80s, then again she sang that NJS sounding song.

I'm curious if it'll change with the recast but I don't find Ted and Bill to be similar at all. Bill reminds me more of a JR Ewing type of sleeps around and views his wife more as a prop (at least with Dani) whereas Ted just had an affair that led to a child. I believe that Ted genuinely messed up and loves Nicole which I don't see with Bill and Dani.

Valarie is still there but not Telma. If they end up bringing her band mates on, maybe this could be an opportunity to finally get Victoria Rowell on board. I do think her joining would give them another big jolt of publicity which could be nice for the second half of the year.

Chelsea is headed for trouble trying to see this woman outside of the arrangement. Her husband is not going to take this well.

The diner scene with Leslie faking being a fan of the Dupree Family was crazy funny. Leslie is definitely getting more insane.

It's TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And look at them starting off the episode with the Have-Nots!! I admit that I was wondering with the Silk Press Sheila/Nicole storyline coming to a head, what will become of them. Seems like SilkPress thought the same.

Not Ashley giving sass!! lol.

God, I love Chelesa's hair like that. And haha at Martin reconfirming that just because a gay man is in a couple does not immediately mean it is an open one.

Aha! Sharon and Tracy! And Anita did not have a good break up from her group. Hmmmmmm

Anita was seen shading Bill in her very first scenes of the Pilot! But how cool would it have been if Anita actually was more conflicted over her feelings about Bill?

What if she was one of his big supporters, or saw something great in him? Maybe she related to him in some way?

I find it interesting that Anita does not have a strong relationship with either of her Son in-law's considering she does not have a Son of her own. I think MVJ should have played with that element more.

Another component is Anita the superstar Diva, who owns whatever room she walks in. Why not have one of the Son in-laws be secretly in love with her?

Seeing Mona sit next to Ted made me wish she was playing his sister.

I figured they hadn't mentioned it. Thanks.

Yeah that worries me.

    • Thanks for starting this thread!  I was hoping others were listening and would want to chat about it. I'm really enjoying Montecito!  The production and audio values are top notch. The storylines are interesting and keep me wanting more.  There is corporation succession, cheating, alcoholism, bisexual relationships, divorced parents, brother/sister drama, scorned mother, father/son relationship issues, etc. At first I couldn't stand Mena's (sp?) voice, but I've grown to enjoy her and I love to hate her as a villain. I keep hearing Smitty (BTG) in Mike Manning's voice, so it keeps throwing me haha. The only thing going against it is one episode per week, at only 18 minutes long, so we need more content. Anyone else listening and enjoying it?
    • This, plus they nixed their overnight set crew during the COVID era and never brought them back.

    • I did some research because I had a similar question. (also, I don't want to poop on your joke which was amusing, but it sent me down a rabbit hole) A Reddit user who works at TeleVision City (where Y&R is filmed) estimated it takes 45 minutes to set up or reconstruct an already built set.  However, according to union rules, it takes at least seven crew members (not counting lighting and sound installation).  As always, the real cost is the labor, not the task.   Y&R uses robotic cameras, so there is only a skeleton crew on set.  Most of their crew budget goes to production assistants, who cannot move sets.  So, they would need to hire a crew every time they wanted to put up or take down a set (for two days) as well as a lighting and sound design installation.  Which is obviously very different from how production worked when money was more freely spent (and good for the unions for keeping the workplace safe). So, filming a single day in Lauren and Michael's living room could cost as much as they spend on two actors salaries for an entire year.
    • I knew Giovanni Mazza was talented but damn that kid is a star in the making.
    • The Nurses' Ball has always been cringey, fast forward material for me, but especially during the Frank era. The musical numbers and audience reactions are unwatchable.  So many of the conflicts on this show feel phony and manufactured. Probably no better instance is the Gio - Dante crap. Gio's whole story is inorganic, plot driven, no stakes, fake conflict; giving people lame drama just to give them drama, a prime example of GH under Frank.
    • What is the reason why soaps can’t use whatever sets they want? How exactly does it cost money..? I’m sure they still have Michael and Lauren’s house, why can’t they just put it up and shoot it when needed lol
    • I'm binging last week and I still find it so odd how different the show feels. Before I felt like each episode felt so long but the show is gliding by now. I'm on Thursday and it's crazy how real the characters feel. It doesn't feel like Days of Our Lives because I'm so used to everything being slapstick. It's definitely nice seeing layers to the characters now. I'm beginning to feel really confident about the coming months when the new headwriters can introduce their own stories.
    • And, Dani's focus, whoa, when she deigns to really pay attention, her focus is laser sharp. And, Chelsea is a natural attention seeking target for Dani. She is so much more mother than I realized before.
