Does anyone have ideas how this Martin/Alan/Traci plot is going to play out?  Do we already have the answer?  Or is there going to be a twist at the end?  It has been so predictable since day-one, I sort of hope there will be a surprise ending and the audience has been wrong all along.

So, there are two Jack Abbot(t)s on TV now, apparently. I was watching The Pitt, and actor Shawn Hatosy is playing Dr. Jack Abbot! (Although some write ups spell it as Abbott.)

I just find the coincidence amusing. Trying to think of any other daytime/prime time characters with the same name but am failing. By the way, if you're into realistic medical dramas [per doctors and nurses that have watched], The Pitt may be the new show for you.

This head-writer has no idea how to write a romance.  And seems to have absolutely no interest in writing any type of long-term romantic plot.  Characters change romantic partners, and characters change jobs at billion-dollar companies -- ad nauseam.  It's all willy-nilly with no purpose, and with no long-term effect on anything.   Big YAWN...

-- I said this before: Audra is an absolute moron for again going into business with Victor. We're told repeatedly how great a business guru she is, yet she goes into business with a guy who destroyed her. I have whiplash from all the times Audra's character has changed.

-- Victor himself is stupid for hiring Audra to break up Insipid Kyle and Amish Claire. He'd be better off hiring someone no one knows.

Somehow we forced to accept this drivel because for whatever reason Griffith didn’t want Audra and Summer on a collision course.

Pretty much…not to mention unlike ZS or AL who at least have passion, HE has the chemistry of a cold wet sock the way Claire is written too.

Third or maybe fourth Amen.

Maitland is the heart of the show for me. I wish Tracy could get a decent romance.

Claire/Kyle are a snooze. She needs some spark of a personality.

The Claire character from inception has been a misfire,

Did Victoria need another child when she has nothing to do with those she already had?

Cole has disappeared.

Reed could have returned or  if we wanted a new character to mix it up with the Newmans have Matt return to announce he has discovered a daughter. Matt brings her to GC and then is tragically killed. 'Claire' joins her newfound family.

Beth stated in an interview that they are still taping 5 eps in 4 days, which has been the practice for a few years now. But good to have that clarification as I was worried they might have gone further.

So that averages out at an extra 9-10 minutes each day which should be manageable considering that episodes are shorter these days than previously.

I would love to know the daily routine as it seems there is one rehearsal and then taping.

BITD I think there was  a read through, camera blocking, dress rehearsal and taping.

    • I was wondering what week it was, and it explains the low rating for Knots Landing. I was also wondering what preempted Dallas and Falcon Crest.
    • Interesting take on Dallas. Frankly I think the plot of JR Returns should have been the way Dallas ended but for whatever reason they thought they had the chance to get renewed for another season lol. A week later Knots’ 2 hour season finale ranked at #10 against Cheers #3 and LA Law at #5. There’s only a handful of other shows running that long and still doing well enough the ratings/rankings i.e. Gunsmoke, Law & Order, NCIS, Grey’s Anatomy and more recently Blue Bloods.    Another point of interest is the unraveling of the 80’s sitcoms had already begun in the spring of ‘91. The first part of a Who’s The Boss? two part season finale we see here ranked at  #40 and second part ranked at #43 the following week. Growing Pains finale the previous week barely made it into the Top 30. The Wonder Years fared no better. Cosby losing ground, Night Court and Dear John just being there etc.

I haven't posted in a few weeks and have some catching up to do. But I did manage to look at the last two episodes after hearing about how good they were. I really enjoyed them. My thoughts on them: The affair/secret child reveal was very good. TMG was really good as Leslie, her whole confrontation with Ted/revealing all to the Duprees was very entertaining. I continue to love AM/Eva. She my top two favorites on the show (along with Nicole). I have a lot of sympathy for Eva and how she was conflicted/ultimately felt guilty about publicly revealing the truth to everyone. I wonder what will happen to her next, especially if she does go and live with the Doctor that is friends with Ted and Nicole. I lol'ed at how Martin/Smitty jumped up and grabbed Leslie when Eva was calling her crazy. The way they did that was funny to me. I haven't liked many of Martin's actions/his attitude especially regarding Smitty/his children, but I think it was interesting how he wanted to check Ted for his actions. And also wanted Bill to be questioned/confronted about his as well. I haven't been the biggest fan of the character of Andre, but I appreciated his calm and measured approach after the reveal and how he talked with Eva. I thought it was interesting that he knew about the affair and convinced Ted not to tell Nicole. Speaking of Nicole, I continue to love her character and view her as the heart of this show/Dupree family. I am interested in seeing where her journey goes as a character after this reveal. I'm looking forward to her leaning on Dani and (also Anita/Vernon, etc...) for a change.

    • Lol.  I love that this board still allows misinformation from a bad source.
    • Thanks @kalbir what a time to have enjoyed the peak of the primetime soaps. Haha you’re good. The only complaint I have with Lorraine’s death as I mentioned recently in the FC thread was it was overkill, and all we got Apollonia. If a pregnant woman had to be killed off, I would’ve chosen just killing off Robin instead in some freak accident or in the explosion at Richard’s to save us from us that disaster lol.    Did Hotel have a cliffhanger that year? I imagine if Hotel had been soapier we would’ve had cliffhangers like the hotel catching on fire or bombed by an ex-lover of Christine. Peter pisses everyone off and is shot in his office. Or a major Golden age star like a Olivia de Havilland shows and tells how she originally owned the Hotel and how Victoria Cabot & Laura Trent stole it from her but now she owns it etc.
    • The whole AMC 2.0 pulled it together in mere weeks to get a show up and running, with scripts and a cast.

Ginger Smith seemed really passionate about being in the executive producer position, and I think she really did a fantastic job in six weeks. It was just well done.
    • I totally didn’t pick up on that. Just perfect! I don’t get the Maurice Johnson hate around here at all. He didn’t take me out of the scenes at all. I understood everything he was portraying. It was great. I do wonder if there will be a personality shift with the new actor, whom I’m still not excited about. Exactly. Right? I’m in the exact same boat as you. Agree with most of this except I never found anything off with Ted, didn’t suspect a thing. I just watched yesterday’s episode and it was one of the best soap episodes I’ve seen in a very long time. I was enthralled the entire time. Just fantastic.
