Neither can I.  Susan Seaforth Hayes isn't just some "old fogey."  For years, she and her husband WERE the show.  They were and are daytime royalty.

I agree, especially now that we're calling a spade a spade and saying yes, in fact, E.J. did rape Sami.

WHILE, we are welcoming of all new ideas and opinions, it is important to recognize that sometimes those new ideas and opinions are incorrect, and engagement can be found more organically.

That being said, to me, one of the highlights of the show for the past year has been Julie's friendship with Chad.

I agree!!  SSH is the Lillian Gish of daytime.  She can do more with one close-up than other actors can do with entire monologues.

Yeah… I still don’t know about that BTG ripoff establishing shot for the Kiriakis mansion

But a lot of people did look hot today. And I see that Doug III was looking a little more natural too

I think that there should’ve been more follow up with EJ’s shooting but I’m glad that it wasn’t completely ignored. The things that Kate said did make a lot of sense, even though I don’t think she’s the shooter. And it seemed like we got another dynamic/red herring with Sophia and Tate as well.

Speaking of Sophia and Tate, I’m glad that Tate has somebody to confide in again about how he’s feeling. I’m interested in seeing where everything goes from here. NuSophia did ok too. And so did Doug III. And I’m really looking forward to the showdown between him and Tate tomorrow. It’s about time that the feud between the two of them really got off the ground. Plus, in terms of acting, it could be a real test to see what Leo Howard and Peyton Meyer could do.

And hopefully, the dream that Stephanie had was more foreshadowing of what I suspect may happen. The fact that it may happen under the new writers (and hopefully not be biased in favor of Alex) makes me even more interested in it. Plus, all the Alex praise and Philip bashing made me a little

And like I said in the spoiler thread, I like that the Kiriakises are going to take advantage of EJ’s shooting to make their move on Dimera. This is how an umbrella storyline should be. The fallout could be really good.

DiMera Enterprises should not exist.  Stefano wasn't into corporation stuff.  The whole corporation is an artificial construct that some writers (I don't remember who) added quite a few years ago, and then the idea grew with each of successive writing regimes.   It's possible that Stefano created the name DE as a front for his personal nefarious deeds, but if he did, there was no actual enterprise.  He wasn't into business, not even illegal business.  He was into his personal plots. The bottom line is that Stefano didn't care about any of that business stuff.  It wasn't a thing.
Before EJ was "killed" in 2014, he and Clyde were arguing about running drugs.  But that wasn't a Stefano thing.

I think it may have been Dena Higley who  added on the Kiriakis/DiMera rivalry, but it wasn't based on history.  Just something she wanted developed.

None of it interests me.  Just like all the endless corporate takeovers on Y&R are uninteresting to me.

I too always found it weird as hell they tried to make 'DiMera' a legitimate business lol. The DiMeras who have had 50 different mad scientist capers on this show?

Yes.  I always thought it was a vague front to make Stefano seem legitimate, but the business just owned properties and laundered money or something.  They didn't actually care about business.  That wasn't anything Stefano was interested in.

    • I would put Felicia in the 'small dose' auntie category because she means well, but comes on too strongly at times.  In small doses, she would be a blast to hang out with.. but in anything larger than a small... she would be exhausting. I tend to prefer lower key people than people that are always 'on' all the time.  Those people can veer off into energy vampire status pretty quickly.
    • I didn't like the Harry story, but Nazar did have a great introduction. He was probably the highlight of last year.  Now that you mention it, I guess the truly dire stories (Nicole, Harper/Drew/Phil, Nicole) didn't start until summer.
    • thank you all for contributing to the Vault. I am slowly getting towards watching the 1998 episodes

    • I pray⏤and I know it's a big prayer⏤that Noel Maxam is somehow able to figure things out budget-wise so we can stop re-dressing existing sets as "new" sets. I know in apartment buildings apartments can generally look the same, but I'm over it on this soap. The last time he was executive producer was in 2011 when the original Horton Town Square was introduced, and we had some other sets get introduced around this time (likely pre-commissioned prior to his election), but I'm trying to have some hope he can pull this off. Let's [finally] see it.
    • Definitely not the best of RC's breakdowns. I don't know what it says that I could pick up his trademarks yesterday 30 minutes in without even knowing that he did one. There was something more...quirky/boardstroked...about Dani. Though I love the Dani/Nicole scenes, she was just a little too hip?...which made me think back to the episode when she broke into Bill/Hayley's house. Then watching the episode later on, I saw Hayley was being used as a punchline to the more interesting and relevant Bill/Ted scenes (see you all were just talking about how you hoped they got scenes...one thing this show is great at...what people want on this board...they already have the foresight for it. The reason I feel the DNA test will get mentioned @Cheap21 in more detail). And then poor Anita reduced for the most part propping up an album.    Needless to say, not my favorite RC episode. And since we are in aftermath week, I just smh. And barely worth a rewatch. BUT...was there good for me?    Yes. Thankfully, we still got good aftermath beats regardless of the breakdown.   Like I said, I really like the Dani/Nicole scenes. But I love their dynamic. And I was looking forward to the shoe being on the other foot once the SilkPress storyline hit climax. Quirks aside, it did not disappoint. Dani came in, and she came in fierce for her sister. I loved her attacking Eva. And then her being surprisingly introspective about Nicole due to her own experience. No wonder Nicole reacted to her being self-aware. So did I.    Meanwhile Bill and Ted finally met up. I'm kinda sad that we did not get that sooner given the scenes that played out sidepiece in the background aside. It might have been interesting to see more of their status as non-Duprees coming into the family explored.    And of course I can't leave without mentioning Eva vs SilkPress Sheila which was the highlight. Both of them were giving. And SilkPress was just so cold with it. I did love that Eva finally stopped letting her gaslight her. Sad to see the duo break up. But I did love that she went to Ted. So...the next turn begins.   And speaking of turns...uh oh at Kat and Tomas. I'm sure he won't be staying away from her. So most definitely, Kat vs Eva ain't over. It will be interesting to see how it goes now that most people know that Kat was right all along.
    • Nah I enjoyed it much more last year because of the Harry plot that ended during that time. Nazar being introduced and them. But this time it is so lame and nothing I like forward to anymore and I’m one of them long time fans. Of course I would be upset if they would cancel it but maybe take a year off or two and return refreshed
    • came across this quote that provides some context: “It’s hard to escape the cultural reach of the Catholic Church when you live in the Western world. It is, for better or worse, one of the load-bearing walls of our civilization. Its influence wafts from the church into the streets of civic life, the courts, the schools, the arts.”
    • Yesterday's show:   Can they give Ambyr Michelle the Emmy for supporting actress already?   Truly enjoyed the episode from Leslie and Eva, Eva and Ted, Nicole and Dani to Anita and Nicole.
