Now tbf why yes it was asked of me, I was simply also speculating off of what was already said several pages before.

And NO I was not saying it as if it was fact and was clear that I was speculating. Which I (and apparently several people) am allowed to do. Even now speculation is slipping to the 13 week cycle. So...*shrugs*

Someone really put that he and DD didn't get along? Wow. The devil be busy.

I don't think they have to make any statement, I think they just have to keep it moving. The reason this is happening is largely just the novelty of a new soap, and a semi-new audience reacting to things that happen in daytime that are typically business as usual. The other issue here is that an American soap has never launched in the social media age, when this kind of nonsense is spread around from randos who can't handle facing accountability for making up rumors and clickbait.

Generally soaps never make statements for actors they fire or replace to use, there's no reason to do so here. The new audience will just have to get used to it.

This tweet is a little messy imo not gonna lie. What does posting the call sheet have to do with anything ?

I also didn't care for him retweeting some of the messy tweets from people

That’s even more reason to have a better prepared statement ready just so things wouldn’t get this messy but whatever. I still think the onus is on Maurice for fanning the flames with the reposts. Its cool when people are ragging on the show for getting rid of you but not so much when they start writing narratives about you, your former costars and work ethic and the lies make their way to prominent gossip blogs.

When I saw this, a couple of things went through my mind. First, Daphnee Duplaix's first name is misspelled. That's a choice for whoever wrote the call sheet up.

Second, Mike Manning's position at the bottom of the list despite having more name recognition than most on the entire list, particularly in terms of the show's genre, makes me wonder if the order of names is more based on when each person got hired than on their importance to the show, which is generally what a call sheet is.

It's messy because it wasn't called for. While one can and should defend themselves from attacks, most of what's being discussed is purely speculative from fans and not based on publicly disclosed information from the show or any other actor. Silence sometimes speaks volumes, even though that could also be subject to interpretation - a good thing or just as well a bad thing.

Sharing this document online wasn't necessary, especially not in the context in which is was shared, IMO.

I don't think it's messy, because from my perspective, it's him thanking the 19 other contract players in the acting company he likely grew close to during his time on that set.

It's couples linked together (Nicole/Ted, then Dani/Bill) as the children of Anita Dupree, with the children of Nicole/Ted and Dani/Bill listed underneath; from Marquita Goings (Hayley Lawson) on down who knows?

I think Maurice J just wanted to flex “hey I was number 4 on the call sheet” which is an accomplishment and one I’m surprised he was given considering the resumes of those listed right below him.

I hope Keith Robinson can bring more leading man presence to the role. For me Timon KD and Clifton Davis are the only actors bringing it on the show, the women are running laps on the other guys.

I wonder if it was a mistake to begin with to allow the announcement of MJ's departure to come out so soon. We still have another full month of seeing him on screen. This will make fans feel even more some type of way knowing he will no longer be around after that. It's possible the fans will warm up to the new guy with time, but at this rate, I certainly don't see it happening right away. Obviously, new guy is going to have to bring it, whether that's fair or not.

That, and also why Alex Alegria and Mike Manning had just their characters' first names listed, and why certain character names are incorrect such as Dani Dupree (not Dani Hamilton), Naomi Hamilton Hawthorne (not Naomi Hamilton), as well as the aforementioned misspelling of Daphnee Duplaix's name.

My gathering is that Deadline reported it either because the show wanted to get ahead of rumbling about a casting change, or the outlet caught wind of said change and reported it based on their own sources. Remember, the show has not (and likely will not) addressed the situation.

Correction: in the case of Manning, his character's first name is Bradley. Smitty is the nickname.

I am very aware of the 13-week cycle! It still doesn't change the way I feel about this topic. I have felt this way for YEARS. But I appreciate the acknowledgment.

@Taoboi no worries, buddy. I knew you were speculating. I asked you a question, and you answered it. The End!

And if people do throw tomatoes at Robinson simply for taking a job, then it'll only prove the point that "fans" on social media are morons and should not be catered to at all.

    • ITA. While I'm all for vets being featured, the show has boxed itself in by not adequately developing a younger set. It's like Kyle's realistic options are Claire and Audra with Summer gone. Chance is barely used. Noah and Faith are off-canvas now.  Abby's story has been run to the ground in all the wrong ways. There's a Newman/Abbott war going on and Abby is on the sidelines? Give me a break. Abby shouldn't be a hostess, but at either Jabot or NE and right in the middle of all this stuff. Abby and Adam should've formed an alliance as the not Nick/Victoria kids.
    • Absolutely. On any other show, Frank Ryan would have been a shining romantic hero. I think they made Delia so impossible so you would feel as though he had a right to cheat on her. But he was a deadbeat dad, neglectful of the women in his life, even neglectful of his family, ridiculously ambitious. Once in a while he'd show some integrity, and then he'd go back to being a self-centered jerk. But he was definitely an interesting character.  When Pat was married to Delia, it was two incredibly neurotic people caught together in a very toxic relationship. Again, fascinating to watch. Yeah, when those first contracts ran out, the people leaving caused a big issue. Almost like they did too good a job with the initial casting.  I actually liked the first recast for Mary. (I think her name was Mary Carney?) Part of the problem was after being so front-burner for 3 years, Mary and Jack's story was basically resolved and they had to fall back on the tired "marriage vs career" trope. Then they brought in the second and third recasts that were total misses. Plus, they were ramping up Siobhan's character. It seemed they were more interested in focusing on her once Mulgrew left.
    • Thank you, all - so helpful! I didn’t realize Ross was Phillip’s bio uncle - how cool!  What happened to his real parents, and I’m assuming Ross didn’t like Alan for swapping the babies? It does sound like the writers might be making some things up then with A-M and Phillip feuding, but we’ll see how it plays out. Phillip currently is in a home with a woman’s voice in the distance (not sure who this is yet), and he keeps looking at a newspaper with the Spaulding family picture. They finally revealed his face in a Friday cliffhanger, but it was so obvious his voice was Grant A’s haha. He has such a distinct voice to me. Very interesting, so are Fletcher and Rick at odds then since he was the brother? Honestly in the year since Rick has been back in SF, they’ve rarely, if ever, been in a scene together that I recall. The storyline with Blake right now getting pregnant off a one-night stand with Rick from a bar night after Blake was upset with Ross, and not knowing who the father is…. sounds similar to that Meredith storyline in a way haha.  I remember someone posted an episode from the 80s of Rick smelling this scarf and Phillip lifting weights (so funny/strange), which made me think they were close friends in the beginning.  I’m guessing this storyline put them at odds - did they ever recover before they both left SF or will this be a fractured friendship when Phillip returns? Sounds like I need to know more about this Beth character, as she’s pretty important to Phillip’s backstory. So I wonder if the lady he’s talking to in these current scenes is Beth, if they’re still together?   That must be when Rick went to Chicago then and met Annie during the years he left SF. Thanks, again - this was all helpful background/context as I get to meet Phillip for the first time. I just have to get it out of my head he isn’t the bad Alec McIntyre (AMC) haha.

    • Hmmm... I don't know if I agree the show has been doing this with Sonny since the mid-90's.  He was more anti-hero than hero back then and had a whole lot of baggage.  He also had some very decent qualities. This was long before his bipolar diagnosis.   I have said this so many times on this board, but the true ending for the Sonny character was leaving Brenda at the altar.  Not because I wanted that or anything.  I was upset for days and might still be 25 years later.  It was just Sonny finally doing something very unselfish and leaving Brenda for her own good and well-being.  The family and life he craved he realized he couldn't achieve because of the business.  That to me was the end of Sonny's arc. It's unfortunate MB didn't make it primetime and came back a year later lol.
    • I shouldn't write like an authority, which I do too often. It's how I feel but I respect that others did appreciate the writing last year with Sonny.
    • What are the additional surprises that Leslie has up her sleeve?
    • And that's the power of William J. Bell and his co-executive producers. Truth be told, I know people have heralded the return of Edward J. Scott last year (and yes, his return helped tighten up the visual look of production under the present regime as senior producer); however, I always felt like David Shaughnessy's vision (especially as a director) was stronger for Y&R. His Y&R had a darker, richer look that I feel like Scott never had, especially in the high-definition era.
    • That would be key; I know they have a "Tribeca" set that's active at the moment, so they could easily use the exterior of that set and then create "indoor" sets on the next set budget. I think that'd be a key idea. I love the community lots we presently have, although there is always room for more.

Like, you cannot tell me that cannot be some kind of shopfront. Or even a salon front Serenity Beauty & Hair?
    • They really did; I know the transition wasn't as beautiful as many thought it should have been, but at least with Mulcahey at the helm, I felt like there was going to be resolve at some point... even if we didn't know what it was at the time. Seeing everyone turn against Sonny, except for Ava (with her mysteriously nefarious reasons), was beautiful to see. Plus, Mulcahey swiftly fixed Alexis' law license issue that had dragged on far too long. Again, was it perfect? No. But did I get a sense that Mulcahey, if given a true chance, could have done some effective changes? Yes. Very glad to know I am not alone in this, and yes, Harper's chemistry with Sawandi Wilson's Isaiah has been lovely. But it seems like every time there is a viable match, TPTB nix it before it can truly begin.
    • Reading all the theories here and on twitter.  Someone wondered if June is connected to Leslie? So now we have June possibly connected to Hayley, to Samantha&Tyrell, or to Leslie. I love that we don't know! To be honest, the first time she aired, I didn't think June was connected to any major character.  I thought she was simply a client who might prove to have an interesting backstory as part of the "have-nots".   But then June dropped the photograph, so that has to be an anvil or mean something.
