physicians do have their own offices. hospital and restaurants provide public spaces where it makes sense for various characters to cross paths.

I get the "cross paths" aspect. But I also have a photographer, a firefighter, and two daughters traipsing there. Meanwhile, there's like ONE nurse (regular, one dayplayer nosy Nellie type) a cardiologist (who I don't think's bothered to be there yet) and a plastic surgeon.

Granted, it's only week two, but so far, it seems like there's more concern about been seen kissing the SO other than any kind of work.

Thev've been telling us that Pamela (Cady) is Dani's best friend, but that hasn't made any impact. Vanessa has, and most viewers, I think, see her as Dani's BFF. Her personality aligns with Dani's. Honestly, Cady made no impression on me at all. None.

I get what you're saying, but I'm OK with it so far, and I understand it.

It's miles better than watching Y&R characters move from Society to Crimson Light to the GCAC and then back to Society.

I know she wasn't on for very long but yeah I agree, she just felt like she was there, and I felt no friendship chemistry with her and Karla either not like she has with the actress who plays Vanessa

Ted the plastic surgeon was seen at the hospital with the patient Laura (the one that Leslie ran off the road).  It was said that he has a private clinic.
They said they were filming the Nicole/Ted video on the grounds of the clinic last week, but the clinic itself hasn't been shown yet.

there’s not always a logical way for the writers to get characters in the same place at the same time, so this is one soap opera trope i’ve always been willing to handwave.

First day nurse, Ashley, had a supervisor introduce herself & indicate that new nurse knows nothing about this hospital's procedures. On her third day Ashley delivered a baby in an elevator with the photographer (and hot dude) Andre as her only help. The baby mama, Alix with an I, named baby girl Ashley Andrea. They took pictures all around.

Laura, who Leslie/Dana ran off the road, was treated there.

I think that's it for 2 weeks at I forgot the name of this hospital.

Cady's character seems like a re-write. We first met Dani with Vanessa and the later comments establishing her as Nicole's best friend seem bizarre. Not only can I not see them as friends but I don't think they've shared on scene together. When it came time to bring on Cady's character, she should've been brought in as Nicole's friend or even Smitty's mom. We're only two weeks in so I'll give her time, but so far I'm with you, she has made no impression on me. It literally seems like they inserted her scenes into the episodes.

With all of the grand houses and out sets, why do they all go to a seedy looking bar?

I'm going to give it another week to see if I can remember who is who on this soap.  I want to like it, but so far I'm just lost when it comes to the characters.

I decided to hold back on commenting until I caught 2 weeks worth of episodes, so I could take a view that I didn’t consider hasty for me

Plus, I knew the first week would be designed to be as exciting as possible to keep viewers, so waited till week 2 as the show settled into its rhythm.

I love this show! It’s my American soap. The only one I watch now and will keep on watching. No show is perfect, but I can’t go back to any of the other soaps having watched Beyond The Gates for 2 weeks.

Given the current television climate and the ongoing apprehension when it comes to fully embracing all things black, I don’t expect this to be a decades-long soap, so will enjoy this as long as it remains on air.

I feel like that is very typical of what type of bars are popular in the US now, especially in Black circles. The only thing missing is a hookah at each table and the bottle girls.
