I didn't even think of that! Reeeeeally old school.

I definitely would be impressed if true. Bill did say in that first week when he talked to Vernon that he had always done favors for various members of the family. So it would track.

I was really liking Tyrell and Samantha today. Yeah, a bullying storyline is a little cliche but, just like I said with Days, it's so hard to write realistic teens in general, from any generation, that I don't mind it.

Idk about Smitty and Martin though; the way they talk about their kids, you'd think they were 5 years old or something lol I hope this isn't the end of the conflict. So much can be written based on Smitty going back to work, or Martin trying to control his life.

And yes, Kat vs. Eva was the best part of today. They really need to build up every part of their storyline; their rivalry with each other, over Tomas. Everything. So that when the reveal finally happens, the fallout would be explosive.

Kat/Eva/Tomas is the sisters fighting over a guy story that's so gonna happen.

I pointed out before that the prized virgin heroine is not a new thing.

Totally. The writers are making sure they have something to fight over at ALL TIMES.  And the Hairdresser might be ahead of the Bougie Bitca for now, but she gotta score at some point too. Too much time to go. hehe.

Yeah, that didn't work for me. I don't enjoy pretending the obvious wouldn't be said.

Likewise, it made no sense that Smitty and Martin took so long to mention the bullying possibility. You mean that black eye wouldn't have been asked about?

If  they don't mention the system or the cloud having that footage, that's a problem. I'm not a fan of that kind of writing.

That gambling set is so low rent. There'd better be a really good reason for bigtime mob boss Joey spending to much effort on Dr. Doug.

Hayley isn't dumb, but she is clueless and sooooo damn immature. When she see things are off, she complains like crazy, denies Bill his kisses, and then forgives him two minutes later.

She has no idea how to navigate any of this.

So now that it's been over a month, anyone change who your favorite was coming into the show...or has it changed?

For me, my favorites are still Nicole and Anita. Though this show is making me realize how much I love the character trope of the good guy cop. I shouldn't be surprised given how much I love Chance on Y&R and Dante on GH. Perhaps it's the onion...I mean how attractive Jacob is. And enjoying how (fingers crossed) his family is sloooooowwwwly being touched on.

I mean, I know people compare her to Brooke Logan, but I don't even think Brooke acts as dumb as Hayley is acting. If she is feeling red flags from Bill, she should trust herself. Or worse, if she is this insecure, she needs to be careful to not make it a self-fulfilling prophecy.

What surprises me is how many of my favorites came out of nowhere. Characters like Kat, Eva, Leslie and Ted didn't really make an impression on be going into the show and all have become favorites of mine. I think since they focused the promo so much around the Duprees I was expecting Dani's story and the core four to be my main favorites. Now don't get me wrong, I love all of them, but that Ted/Leslie story has stolen my heart.

I will say I definitely wasn’t expecting to Silk Press Sheila and Eva to become the breakout stars of the show for me or become Team Eva.

My top 5 characters for myself so far are definitely Nicole, Anita, Eva, Vernon, and well a good 3 way tie for Chelsea, Jacob, and Naomi at 5th for right now. I’d throw Ted in too but I also want to see how the recast is as well.

I will say the most disappointing thing for myself is my overall lack of interest for Martin & Smitty, mainly because I don’t see the chemistry. I don’t know, Martin sounds fine on paper but it’s becoming poorly executed on screen IMO.

(I would have prefer it if Martin was shown at a busy congressional office too busy for his family, or perhaps have a minor issue that Martin missed a key House vote thanks to family drama etc.)

I think the best thing is in the past month BTG has shown us that yes, we in 2025 can still have an engaging/engrossing, entertaining, and vibrant soap. Not to mention that yes even despite side eying a few names in the credits lol some of these long time soap writers can still produce fresh updated material while using familiar soap tropes.

Best of all feeling I get and I don’t even know why though is despite only being on for a month I feel like I’ve been watching this show for years now. The show’s has done a great job of explaining how these characters developed and moving the plot forward.

Anita serves up matriarch/grande dame diva fierceness. Andre is the hotness. Silk Press Sheila is the breakout character.

Well... My faves evolved now as I think about it. Good question.

My favorite... Initially... episode one was Dani... That changed Fast.

Now my favorite is Silkpress. Hayley is my second favorite. I like Nicole too. Kat.

Queen Anita is out of rankings. She is above everyone.

I dislike Martin and Dani now. Both toxic.

Really annoying is Ashley.

Not sure about Eva.

    • I definitely think it's time to write off Nina for good. I think her killing Drew might actually be a good idea. She could completely lose it after losing both Sasha and Willow and she ends up murdering Drew and eventually she gets caught and sent away to prison for a long time.
    • I hope it's okay to post this here(as in from DC)
    • Quick question - did Christie and Leann share any scenes together in the '80s before Leann left the show?
    • This is the perfect way to encapsulate the situation. So many morally-reprehensible stories were foisted on the show and its characters in ATWT's dwindling years. Rape should never be used as a cheap plot device or in a way that degrades the victim. Jack's sexual assault was another heinous example of how nasty the the show's tone had become. The fact that people like Hogan Sheffer, Ron Carlivati, Jean Passanante, Charles Pratt, Dena Higley, etc., somehow end up winning awards for their material, decimates the credibility and integrity of the awards, IMHO. Soaps used to have a solid moral core and did not originally wallow in the gutter, rolling around in filth and depravity just to be cool, hip, campy, or whatever else modern-day PTB aim for. Thank you. Cruelty, degradation and misogyny are not components which lend themselves to successful soaps, which have always been predicated on warmth, family bonds, and providing a comforting haven for their audience. The genre has been crippled because the cynical and ignorant executives in charge understand neither the shows nor what the audience wants to see.
    • Beverlee was on a whole other level from Kim. It's not like they were in competition with each other. I get the feeling that Kim had a slight problem with the super-professional, serious cast members who just wanted everyone to be prepared and do the work, as she seems to like having fun on set. (She's made a few cracks about Chris Bernau being like that). Bev was definitely one of those. But they didn't work together that much. Yeah, they made her manic and also much weaker. She always had a vulnerability, but wanting to kill herself over that guy? No way. Not only that, he didn't leave her! She insisted he marry Maeve. When they did the tribute to Bert/Charita, the compilation of scenes with her showed how much the cast had been almost totally turned over in a relatively short period of time. Nearly every shot was of her by herself because most people she had worked with had been fired, left or been replaced. I assume they couldn't show her with people who hadn't been replaced, like Don Stewart, Elvera Roussel, or Robert Newman because they would have had to pay them for using their clips. It's dreadful to watch. Like she had no connection to the current show.

    • A little too much focus on Chad and Cat today but I enjoyed the episode. I have a feeling that Jennifer’s gonna get dumped on though, even though I think that her anger is completely understandable and justified. And honestly, Ron is finally gone; Abigail can come back now.  But, welcome back, Anna! It was nice seeing Carrie have scenes with her mother. Christie Clark and Leann Hunley have never really had that many scenes together and to see them have them now is really nice. I’m glad that both of them were there to comfort Marlena too. Their words were definitely the thing that Marlena needed to hear. Btw, with all this talk of Noah, does it mean that he’s gonna be introduced soon? Amy, revealing that John changed her flat tire many years ago seemed a little random though. I would rather she have said something about how everybody in Salem knows of John Black because of how he was always such a hero. But at the same time, her story also showed what a great guy John was.  I liked Kate’s scenes with Philip too, and her promise to get back at Xander for what he did. And since we didn’t see JPL in the bed, did he need some time off or something? And yeah, everything involving ‘One Stormy Night’ still seems very Ron-like to me.
    • The second photo featuring the late John Spencer is from the Law & Order episode, "Prescription For Death", which was the (second) pilot/first episode all the way back in 1990! He played the father of a daughter that had gone to the ER for a mere sore throat but ended up dead because the doctor on call was drunk and had given her medication that she had an adverse reaction to, after receiving some other medication. So, he will always have that great distinction in addition to The West Wing. (The first pilot, "Everybody's Favorite Bagman", was filmed in 1988! The show was offered to CBS, but they passed. In syndication, it is oddly placed as the sixth episode of Season 1. And Roy Thinnes played DA Alfred Wentworth there. When NBC picked up the show two years later, Thinnes declined to return, and that's how we got Steven Hill's DA Adam Schiff.)
