Javi is cute as hell and has a rockin' body, but it's all wasted with Leo. There's no chemistry there. None.

Hearing Javi mention Leo's "extravagant" accommodations at the Salem Inn was laughable. That place is a frickin dump and looks like cockroaches have set up a camp.

I know that we're supposed to feel like Philip is a villain, and he is ruining Xander's relationship.

BUT

If Victor knew that Philip was capable of such a remarkable recovery from mental illness. To where he is today, in terms of level of functioning (although I still don't understand the meaning of his untucked shirt, unless it's because he declared the work day is over). He probably would have wanted Xander and Philip to work together as half-brothers.  As evidenced by Maggie's statement after seeing them, that this is what Victor would have wanted.

OK

She also told Sarah that secrets always come out...

Somehow, they really have me rooting for Philip that somehow it will all work out.  I doubt it.  But, I liked that scene with the three dumb dudes thinking that they could somehow take over Dimera.  Despite that fact, that their father was never able to achieve that goal, and he was a lot more connected and experienced.

I'm curious, how much older was Victor supposed to be when he moved to Salem compared to Philip’s current age in the show's canon? For context, John Aniston was 53 when he joined the show, while PT is now 46 and JPL just turned 45 today (happy birthday!). Back in 1985, Victor was old enough to be Bo's father. Fast-forward to today, and Philip's former schoolmate, Shawn-D, already has an adult granddaughter. In 1983, Bo was just slightly older than an 18-year-old Hope, making their relationship not seem too creepy at the time. Now, Philip could realistically date Joy, who was originally conceived to save the life of his ex-girlfriend (assuming we understand that JPL and Philip can be different ages).

So, maybe Xander and Philip have more experience than I credited them?

And I'm blindly calling it now, Leo and Javi are going to wind up raising Joy's baby.

This is really disappointing, although why should we surprised DAYS would take the easy and cheap way out? Ron's stories are the problem. He wasn't writing the dialogue, so how does that get better?

I thought we were done with Carlivati in April. Now we have more MONTHS of his garbage?

The aging of the kids is never going to make sense.  Belle and Phillip were born years after Stephanie and Alex.  Brady was born a few months before Abby.  Shawn D is approximately the right age and does not have an adult granddaughter.  Just Claire the adult daughter and Belle/Shawn were pretty young when she was born.

Phillip was the golden child and should be the heir IMO.  He just kept doing stupid things.  Both Phillip and Xander have some previous experience running Titan.  More Phillip than Xander, but Phillip also was a marine and has a fake leg so that was a career disruption on the business end.

Plus, Philip has the support of most of Victor's ex-wives, Kate, Vivian, and Maggie.

So, let bygones be bygones. What's a little plagiarism worth between half-brothers?

Remember Nixon, it's never the crime, it's the cover-up.

I’m finally in March and I’m so sad that we’re approaching John’s onscreen death. DH is playing Marlena’s worry perfectly. It’s like Marlena can sense it might be different this time than all the other times they’ve disappeared or “died.”

When they brought in a new producer, not much fundamentally changed. I don't think much is going to fundamentally change with new writers. They've found their formula, however cheap and crappy, and this is the show they're going to do. With their budget and Peacock, probably not much else they can do.

Considering how many times Shawn has been written out, I'm not sure it would do much for her, but maybe.

I wish they had taken the opportunity to recast Shawn again at some point. I don't think Beemer has ever had the spark that the character should have had. The best I can say is he isn't afraid to look his age.

Bingo! They chose an insider (Spellman-Drucker) who was there the entire time Alarr was wrecking havoc and she did nothing. She has been a disaster as Co-EP. Nothing will change with the new headwriting duo. Same ole same ole.

That's worrying, because it indicates that they didn't get rid of Ron because they were unhappy with the material he was delivering but potentially needed cheaper options. Unfortunately, sometimes I fear the rot is far too set in on this show at this point to ever turn it around properly.

Today was a really good one.

Maybe Paula/Jean did edit or rewrite some of Ron’s work in his final months because today felt different. But in a very good way. It felt a lot more sophisticated and mature than what we’ve had to endure for the past few years. And not treated like a big joke at all. It was full of real human drama and emotion and not over the top, campy, plot driven drek.

The relationships between parents and children were on full display today. And none of it seemed biased against anyone, especially in the Tate/Theresa scene. I’m actually really liking their bond as mother and son. And it’s a vast improvement over last summer when Theresa was going to prison and Tate was pretty much not giving a crap lol and as much as I can’t stand Amy, she had a lot of good points today. And I liked the foreshadowing between her and Paulina.

I enjoyed the Marlena and Belle scenes too. Their conversation about Belle finding a true love, and everything that happened with EJ was really good. And so much better than when Marlena first caught them in bed together. The only thing that their scenes needed was some more discussion about all the things EJ did to Belle’s family and how Belle could even give him a second look. Hopefully, we’ll get that in the Belle/EJ scenes tomorrow.

And I loved seeing Johnny go head to head with EJ and not have any time for his crap. He had balls today and I’m here for it. This is the way the character of Johnny should have always been written. So many times since Carson Boatman started playing the role, Johnny’s been isolated to the Dimera’s and almost seemed like he had blinders on when it came to EJ. Today, he actually felt like a Brady too. EJ admitting to Johnny that he regrets what happened between Fake Rafe and Sami was a good surprise as well, and actually seemed genuine. It definitely was the biggest reason why I think that there was some editing/rewriting.

And, I also enjoyed the way that Roman was used today, even though (I hate to say this) every time he spoke today, I almost needed the subtitles. But I’m glad we got his perspective about EJ and Sami and everything that happened with Fake Rafe. That was one thing that was missing from this storyline.  And I like how it all set up the final scene with Johnny. I’m really looking forward to tomorrow’s episode

Perfect for Leo!

He’d be among his own kind

Today was a perfect example of that.

And completely agree about Ron; regardless of the budget and whatever other BTS issues there were, it’s pretty obvious that a lot of these bad decisions were choices.

Ruining Craig and Nancy for no reason immediately comes to mind.

    • The bit with the scarf reminds me of the fabled stuffed animal scene with Rick and Phillip. (That wasn't debunked, was it?)
    • Ohh, interesting. I instantly gravitated towards her in that episode. Of course I'm already hooked and want to know why she was trying to poison that older lady, but then how did the older lady know to switch the mugs so Susan drank her own poison...  but I have too many timelines I'm watching right now haha.  Oh, Bolger is definitely hot. I didn't realize he was on GL haha. I knew him from OLTL and other primetime stuff.
    • This is a effin shame. Eff Trump and eff the bastards that enable him.
    • I 100% agree but I think this is due to how the show is structured. It's a one family show which means there are no people in her age range that could be used as friends or contemporaries of her. The show definitely needs a second main family. I am glad someone finally said this. Especially now that the cast is gelling in their roles, he stands out like a sore thumb. No energy, no chemistry with anybody. He is just there.  I thought that was odd as well! The previous scene would've worked better as a tag for the credits.
    • That's the one and only Carrie Nye (Mrs. Dick Cavett) as Susan Piper, a deadly realtor. I don't want to spoil a lot if you ever want to see those episodes. She returns as another character in 2003. I think Grant has aged well and he always did a good job at being ripped without going too far, but he was never entirely my cup of tea either. I did think John Bolger was hot.
    • Totally agree. KKL looks great! It makes the Widge groveling so bizarre. Brooke needs to leave FC and with $B's/Liam's funding launch a rival fashion house with Hope, Rick, Katie and a secret designer. The best scenario is that Rick has been absent because he's been with very much alive C2, who is revealed on the runway as the secret designer. It'll never happen because B&B is comfortable just focusing on FC and the Forresters Marones v. Logans. But it'd been so much more interesting if the Spencers/Logans united.

    • Haha that scarf thing did go on a bit too long, very odd. And what a young Rick!  I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I just never got the physical appeal of Grant Aleksander, but he's definitely a great actor. Who is the older lady around the 8:30 mark, and also ends the episode, alone and in pain? She seems like a really interesting character. I love the smoky voice and sultry, snaky vibe she seems to have.
    • I can't remember exactly but I think she lives in or is part of the cottage story with Carrie. Carrie poisons her in this episode.  I forgot Teresa was on the show. (I see that AI is insisting she wasn't - well they're wrong) Poor Maeve. I can how even she had her limits.
    • It pisses me off that the other Duprees are making this incident all about them as well. They are playing a family of victims, acting as if Ted cheated on all of them. They should be supportive, but not like this. I have a family that makes anything that happens to me personally all about them, and seeing the same thing on TV is rage-inducing.
