The Newman and Abbott household being dressed up for Christmas felt like classic Y&R. Strangely, the set the caught my eye - the Society entrance  - it used to look like a dark alley, but the lighting, the snow, etc. make it interesting.

Anyone else feels like there's too much love for Cole? Victor accepts him with Victoria, he takes Claire out for her first ride, Victor offers him a job(!). IDK - my soap instincts are kicking in.

Who would've thought that SW return was actually the missing piece to unifying the Abbott family in terms of storylines. Jack as a patriarch trying to fill the John role just didn't work until Diane returned. There's enough history and tension with Ashley, Traci and Kyle to make the Abbott house interesting again. Almost like when John/Jill were in that role.

I suspect they are building up Cole because he will eventually die as result of something Jordan does.

Like I was just saying on the GH thread, it's been a different kinda of Christmas. So I enjoyed this episode. Well, the Christmas parts of it. Not so much the Giggly Heffa.

The ranch looked great. And awww at Victor and Cole coming to a nice place. Him? Cole? I was surprised Victor pulled him aside and was NICE???

I also loved Nick and Sharon with Faith, Mariah, and Tessa. And that ornament of Cassie. Of course, I went awww. It all just felt so right. So of course, Giggly Heffa had to show up and NOT get slapped. Which is what Sharon should have done.

Poor Lauren and Michael. At least that Giggly Heffa know that there is now reason to doubt Sharon kill Heather. Not that she didn't already know due to her own memory coming back. Yep. I'm going to need her slapped by the time this storyline is over.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. We know Jordan is trying to 'reclaim' Claire. Cole will make the ultimate sacrifice to save her. I hope I'm wrong because JEP and AH are a good match. It's the first time since JT that I've enjoyed a Victoria pairing.

That's the reason I think they should keep Cole too, but the signs are ll there for Cole to be knocked off. Just another thing to b unhappy about with this show.

There's nothing like digging a character out of the show's history just to get the easy emotional hit of killing them off without doing any of the work to establish them... Hope, Keemo, Heather...

Now to be fair, Heather was developed for a good minute once she came back...until she wasn't.

I don't mind it when it works. I thought it worked with Heather and as much as I like Cole I think it will be a good way to drive story for Victoria and Claire.

What else is there for Victoria to do at this point? Getting involved with Ashland was such a breath of fresh air unfortunately the show went in some strange opposite direction (of course!). The Nate pairing was interesting but quashed too soon. Cole is the best thing for Victoria right now and for the long term, no reason to kill him off.

Otherwise we’ll probably get Victoria involved with newcomer Ivan Abbott Jr. and JG touting as his new new new new “Romeo & Juliet” pairing.

Don't even put that out there into the Universe. :P

Cole was married to Ashley at one point in the Shari Shattuck years.

When Eileen returned, I think they quickly dumped that.

Currently Ashley/Cole had one scene I think.

The original was a bit of a dud story, but it did happen and could be used to provide some story, if Cole and Ashley hooked up again in some capacity. Maybe the old 'the divorce was never finalized' trope . It could lead to a revival of the Victoria/Ashley rivalry.

And there would be Ashley/Cole flashbacks that could be used.

Pretty good ending to today's show!

Beth Maitland Reveals Why Her Y&R Role Speaks to ‘Normal Women Across the World.' In my latest, The Young & the Restless vet gets candid about Traci's weighty drama, becoming the Abbott matriarch, her mature love story, & rumors that Alan is his evil twin womansworld.com/entertainmen... #YR

@dragonflies Thank you for the link.

Beth Maitland is a treasure and Traci really is the heart of the Abbott family. I'm so glad that Traci finally has long-deserved happiness in her life.

Today’s ending was quite good. I’ve enjoyed most of the holiday episodes in general.
